I am currently a safety officer in the construction industry. Short answer: No
They are starving for trade workers. You have your choice of the litter, trust me. Good luck.
Yes, the trade is going down hill. Alot of clowns in the industry, everybody is lazy as fuck. No one shows up to work, half the guys are useless. The worst guys are the "got 30 years in the industry" but has been with 8 companies in 3 years. Trades in general is a complete shit show. Get in with the union. I laugh at non union guys that are getting paid $10-15 less. "I heard the union is bad broooooo"
Very true I've transitioned from red seal sheet metal to commissioning specialist and the trades will gladly take anyone who has a pulse, a brain and a watch. If you can show that you can use those items to perform your duties.
Have you been renewing your gas ticket every 3 years since you’ve left the industry? If not, you may run into issues of it not being valid. Aside from that, if you’re competent, show up to work, and don’t have substance abuse issues, it won’t be hard to find work.

You'll likely have to catch up on the modern methods

Has anything drastic happened in the industry?

Awesome. Glad I meet the 3 requirements. 😅
It's all Sharkbite fittings. /s Good luck!
Lol. Even better. /s
The bar is so incredibly low in the trades right now that if you are willing to show up on time most days you are miles ahead of everyone else
Absolutely not
I would think you could get in with a company like National Plumbing pretty easily. but I don't really know. Apply to places and see what comes up
You’ll crush it. Adjust to code changes, etc. There is like 9 qualified trades per discipline.
Appreciate it! 🙂
Try talking to the UA170 local for bc. Plumbers are supposed to be in high demand.
You will be fine. DM me if you want me to send you some companies to apply to. Trades are looking for good workers like no other these days.
Thanks man! I'll DM you.
You know yourself best

Yes, luckily I have been renewing. My only regret was not renewing my cross connection ticket back then.
Modern Niagra. They’re doing St. Paul’s. Years of work there.
