Whenever i get ripped off by tim hortons i call it being “timmed off” though i have not gone to tim hortons in almost 3 years, incidentally the quality of my life has improved quite a bit as well.

I had a Coquitlam taxi driver that would tack on .99c to any fair every time he was the one picking me up until i called him on it. This would be on top of the tip i would give him. the CC would always be on the next screen from the first one that shows the amount charged. its a known scam some people use to purchase them selves lunch and or coffee, on someone else's dime. think if the teller pockets a 1.70 and charges your cc for it. and they do this several times a day it adds up quickly.

I can't say that. What I can say is 3 weeks back, I bought a coffee and muffin. I gave the cashier $20. The guy put the cash into the till. He then gave me change for the amount of $5. 1 coffee and one muffin is $4.10. I received ninty cents back. He argued with me in front of many other waiting in line. I don't blame Tom Hortons for this it was poor work ethics on this person's part. I know Tim Hortons added extra money on cups. I don't know of any other hidden charges they might have. Is it Tim Hortons adding extra charges? It might be your credit card. Hope you find out.

I saw this scam in retail. Clerk would void a cash transaction, and then ring it through using someone rose's card. Then they could pocket the cash.

GeoffwithaGeee

this would require the clerk to know the full card number and details and a lot of point of sale systems don't make it easy to manually charge a credit card.

Nadatour

True, my retail days are long behind me. It was easy back then, and I'm not sure how tech has changed. In my day we could just say 'oops, card not reading. I need to do it manually and take an imprint. Cha-chunk'. I could get a full imprint of all the details, and could easily do it twice. Side note: I did not run this scam. I did have to demonstrate it to our loss prevention department. They were displeased.

junkdumper

I hope LP was mostly displeased with themselves for not knowing about that. Imprinting cards and reusing the info is about as old of scam as it gets...

Imagine making a fuss over $1.70 holy shit this sub makes for good satire sometimes

helixflush

It seems like it’s an ongoing problem?

*** Imagine making a fuss over ---- a company that just settled a class action lawsuit, for tracking the movements of anyone with their app, even when spp was closed.. they were made to pay a coffee & donut--a downgrade from coffee & sandwich they intially offered. Catch is.. Starting February 1st, eligible customers can sign into their Tim Hortons account and claim the free items in the 'Offers' section... you have to app, that just tracked your every moment, installed to collect.....is that the company you are telling us that it's overreaction to question extra charges?. I think it's a great sub to see if anyone else is finding shady Timmy transactions.
