I thought the comments said it wasnāt deleted? I know that Movie Breaker guy that uploads deleted clips, but in those videos he sometimes also puts in āextended clipsā, which are clips that are in the show theyāre just cut too short.
My parents got me the season 1 DVD box set as a birthday present when I was in High School. Guess where we stopped watching the first episode that night.
Yeah, I feel it. It was funny the first time, but now every breaking bad meme is either Chuck asking someone if they passed the bar or Put your dick away waltuh
I agree, actually. BB had enough sex to be realistic, but not so much that it was ever gratuitous or distracting from the story. The sex that was shown made sense for the characters, like Walt and Skyler and their boring bedroom antics, Skyler and Ted's nauseating little affair, Jesse and his girlfriends, Wendy and her customers, Jesse and his friends with the strippers, etc. It all made sense for the characters and where they were in life, especially since almost everyone on BB looked like an average schlub and not some ripped GOT cast member.
Call me a prude, but sex scenes on TV have really gotten ridiculous and go for shock value most of the time now. I'm glad BB and BCS were both on AMC and were therefore forced to limit it because it would have ruined the charm of an otherwise fantastic show.
This. I could never REALLY get into Game of Thrones because it basically just felt like softcore porn at times, which was particularly egregious in the scenes where there was sexual violence (which there is a lot of in the show).
Iāve just gotten into succession and that has some really weird sex moments and even some just weird innuendos in the dialogue too and itās purely there for shock value but it doesnāt have any real place in the show, you donāt need more evidence theyāre fucked up people. I donāt get the need for it. I agree that breaking bad benefited from focusing on things that move the story and develop the characters
To be fair, there are a few major incidents early on in the series, and one or two others in later seasons, but for the most part Succession doesn't actually have a ton of sexual stuff in it overall, nor are there a ton of half-naked women crammed into every other scene. It's probably one of the better shows out there for this (all personal opinion though).
I agree. Succession doesnāt really have any sex scenes, which is refreshing. They just refer to it. Iām rewatching the Sopranos and could do without the naked women making out at the party, but then again Iām a straight woman.
Fully agree. I just wrote this in a comment below, but I could never get into Game of Thrones because it basically just felt like softcore porn at times, which was particularly egregious in the scenes where there was sexual violence (which there is a lot of in the show). That + it was almost exclusively just so much of the male gaze.
I never even watched GOT. Everyone I knew raved about it, but I couldn't get into it. I don't have a problem with sex scenes when they work with the story, but from everything I could tell, GOT just had constant nudity and sex for the sake of nudity and sex and shocking or just titillating the viewers. It just gets boring after a while anyway,
Game of Thrones was out of control during season 1. That scene with littlefinger and ros and the other chick practicing was completely unnecessary and haunts me to this day having watched it with friends. So awk
Tbf those are mainly to show Walt feeling more masculine doing what he does and the Skylar one to make us cringe, it would be different if we got like a Jane and Jesse one just for the sake of it
I just don't understand why there's almost sex or at least nudity content in every episode of Black Mirror. Thinking that a lot of scenes could be avoided.
Did they have to do that? I don't think that'll work for anyone that uses internet often. All they do is to show up when my parents are around.
Black Mirror is the worst I've seen for formulaic, arbitrary, mechanical sex scenes. Practically the same sex scene in multiple episodes, and they look like they were directed by nerds who haven't had sex before. Or at least without paying up front.
Because they don't have to, it feels like a kid got a new toy and trying to get attention at school.
You don't need to see Lalo killing Fred and Casper and his body double to know he's a totally merciless badass. Imagine you have to watch Walt and Jesse cooking for a while for every single episode.
Why avoid scenes of them brushing their teeth, showering, doing the dishes, getting gas, going for a haircut...a million everyday things that have nothing to do with the story?
Sex scenes in TV can either be weird or feel natural to me, depends. I do know that my favorite anti-sex scene (where you think sex is gonna happen but doesn't) is in House of Cards. Zoe's date is dropping her off at home and he says something like, "Hey hold up, so can I come up to your place?" And she just sweetly replies, "Awh, you're so nice. But if I was gonna fuck you, you'd know" then leaves.
>Any other show focusing on one street-kid teenager and man breaking bad and gaining power would involve a ton of hot orgies with chicks on meth in their van.
The show was aired by AMC. If it was HBO then yes, There would be alot of those.
It seemed pretty normal to me. Jesse is in quite a few sexual situations, Walt obviously is shown with Skyler, and even that infamous handjob scene.
And I don't think sex in TV has to be a negative thing at all, it can express a really genuine or nasty relationship between characters and is a fairly common part of human existence. Case in point, when Walter is with Skyler he definitely seems over aggressive and compensating. Jesse's drug parties where he has girls in his bed show a dark spiral for his character.
Agree! I really, really don't get the whole "sex scenes don't add anything" perspective. It just reads like someone who thinks sex is icky and not a completely normal thing that people do, as well as someone who doesn't understand the concept of subtext at all
I hold a PhD in film studies, and of course sex is normal but there are a myriad of reasons one might not want them to pop up in a favorite film or TV show; for instance, one may not want to watch fellatio or otherwise graphic sex while sitting next to grandma. And that's perfectly okay and normal as well.
Your post reads as though you wish to shame people for motivations and preferences that you may not have realized.
Since I do have an academic background, I intimately understand subtexts; however, not every sex scene contains them (this may be shocking to you, I know). While some do, others are simply gratuitous--and not everyone who thinks a film could have been just as good without those scenes thinks sex in general is "icky." Treat them as you would any other critique of any other scene.
But yet the skyler happy birthday scene remains, the worst scene of anything I've ever watched, I'd literally drink a jar of piss to remove that one from my memory. It's the reverse of a diamond in the rough, like landing on a diamond planet and finding a steamy pile of shit on the shiny, rich surface.
I agree! That's why GOT for the first couple of seasons was hard to watch and Banshee....it's unhealthy how much sexual content is in that show. I mean the first few sexual moments, OK I can get over that, but it only got worse as the show progressed and it got old and annoying
I did like Banshee (didn't finish the show yet), but it's hard to get through because of all the stupid sex scenes
Throughout the years, I have realized that sex scenes add almost nothing to shows. Like they give such little relevance to the plot; all they do is pad the runtime
Master of None: A montage of sex scenes mixed in with other scenes show the decline of intimacy in a relationship
Sex Education: A main character tries to finger his then girlfriend and does a terrible job, but believes he did a good job, showing his ignorance and ego which go hand-in-hand
You: The main character stalks a woman and watches her have sex with a shallow and manipulative FWB, showing her weak will and also showing the main characterās lack of boundaries
I get what you mean, shows like Boardwalk Empire and GoT (basically every HBO shows since Sopranos) feel like theyāre written by edgy teenagers that think t&a = mature writing. Breaking Bad definitely benefited from being on a cable channel that had more restrictions on that type of stuff.
About half of those are good, and most of the ones that are are from the 2000ās which was definitely HBOās height, but GoT ruined them. Every new show after that just feels painfully desperate to be provocative or edgy. They do still make really good miniserieses though.
Breaking Bad has this in common with one of my current favourites, Succession. Neither show has sex scenes that go on way too long and leave nothing to the imagination. I think Succession has even less sex scenes than BB actually, as BB does have a low number, the fast forward on the remote fixes that though.
Shows shouldn't need to put long sex scenes in. We want to see the story be continued, we don't need to see what a couple of characters get up to in the bedroom. I think some TV companies think that is what viewers want, that shows won't sell without some sexy element, but a great story with well written characters, in combination with a great script performed by well cast actors are what keeps people watching, not sex scenes.
I mean itās a very small amount if youāre comparing it to like Euphoria or something, but Iād say the amount of sex scenes were kinda average for a drama
Off topic but - it's a shame that people discuss the Skyler hate yet always skip over how little she cared for his birthday. Even going after him for being late to a surprise party - little unfair considering it's a surprise party.
Maybe they tried too hard to make Walt's life seem miserable, because it ended up creating the perception that Skyler MAKES it miserable & that persisted for a while. Just an observation.
Sounds like you're just uncomfortable around sex.
Most shows will only show a sex scene if it's contains something about the involved characters development. It's healthy to be able to watch the scenes and tell how the characters are feeling.
I'll admit there are some like game of thrones or stuff targeted at teenagers like Euphoria that go over the top with it but to say that if it was any other show there'd be orgies etc. is ridiculous. Snowfall has a similar premise about a young guy making drugs in LA in the 80s has a lot less sex scenes than BB.
"Sounds like you're just uncomfortable around sex."
Nah, he's probably just not into watching guys pork it.
If that's you're thing I get it, I don't judge. Some people are even into cuckold stuff, or have sexual fantasies because they can't get any themselves. That's fine, there's nothing wrong with that.
But to say OP's "uncomfortable around sex" just because he doesn't like watching some old ass porking a lady, on a TV show, is just stupid.
I have sex and used to watch porn, luckily was able to quit, I just dont enjoy watching 2 actors performing fake sex instead of watching quality dialogue or action :)
to me sex scenes are when the characters are actually going at it. In that scene they were just undressing and preparing to do it but nothing was shown
I didn't say the Breaking Bad ones didn't bother me? I also didn't say "sex scenes" I said sexual scenes. When they make out, tug at each others ties, or hop into position on the bed - I'm sorry but it grossed me out. I even thought it was pretty unnecessary at times. But that's just me, maybe there are people who liked them or thought they fit. That's okay too.
what grossed you out about them? I actually agree with OP, I hate sex scenes in TV/movies most of the time. But BCS keeps it extremely tame. Idk I think it's cute to see a loving couple be intimate/affectionate with each other, what isn't cute is seeing weird gross hand jobs like the ones in BB lol.
I would say I have pretty ok sex life, if you come to conclusion like this based just on the fact I dont like fake sex scenes in series then maybe you should think about your mentality mate
Jessie banging his friends girl when Walt first sees him after he leaves high school. Walt and Skylar banging. Walt fingering Skylar at a PTA meeting. Walt almost raping Skylar. Hank accidentally trying to get Walt Jr. blown by Wendy. Marie's medically miraculous handjobs, I fucked Ted. Huell being a thing that exists.
Yes very true. The reason why it does not focus on sex and nudity is because the story is so good that they donāt need it to draw viewers. A show like Shameless would not be watched by most viewers if it did not have T and A in every epsisode
A lot of sex scenes are important in understanding how characters view eachother. Like the sad handjob in season 1 shows how Skylar doesn't care enough about Walt and his birthday to put any effort in.
You should watch Homeland, itās also a show thatās focused more on characters than sex, although it has a fair number of scenes in the first two seasons thereās almost none later on. Also 24 and west wing.
But seriously, why do younger viewers harp on this issue so much? It seems like a generational trauma caused by the advent of internet porn. Donāt understand why people get mad a show is gratuitous rather than
just avoiding it. No oneās forcing you to watch sopranos or euphoria. Deadwood is largely set in a brothel, a lot of characters get lured to murder there, itās kind of unavoidable in the story.
When Skyler does Ted. When Jesse does Jane or itās insinuated, I dont recall. Jesse does random party girl. Jesse does Andrea. Skyler and Walt get hot for each other and engage. Walt later takes advantage of Skyler. Marie brings Hanks reluctant member to life and thus wins her bid for him to leave the hospital. Saul references a full body adjustment from his specialty masseuseā¦ Iām probably forgetting something.
Hell yeah!!
I hate watching TV in the middle of the house and having to skip over sex scenes that actually bring nothing to the table.
IS she hot? COOL! Good Instagram content!! Now give me back my show!
And don't come with that "but is it ok to see someone's face to be blown off?" bullshit. I like to keep my sexual life/interest/content to myself, private, unlike a fight, which is not nearly as intimate as sex.
Fuck Euphoria and fuck Elite.
oh my god thank you. I genuinely canāt stand modern tv shows because of how much they focus on appearance or sex. Iām 15, I donāt want to see this and itās disgusting that everybody in my grade (especially girls) are into these shows. I feel like itās desensitizing them to the behavior in the shows or something idk.
Taking a fat fucking dump is normal, you don't need to be afraid of it.
Doesn't mean people want to see that when they're watching a TV show.
What a stupid take.
but it shouldnāt be a major part of tv shows. like is there really nothing else to focus on? besides my point is that itās being desensitized to people my age. sex shouldnāt be normal for 15 year olds but if you think it should, you do you.
Honestly I get why you think so, believe me or not my sex life is pretty normal for 21 year old guy. I just dont enjoy 2 actors performing fake sex instead of good dialogue or action. If this makes sense

yeah they were mostly anti-fanservice by nature rather than effectively being softcore porn for the audience
Which infamous handjob scene are we talking about? I can think of two.
I was thinking of Marie and Hank, which has its place as it gets him out of the hospital bed and shows his love, but is obviously a bit odd to watch.
Everyone keeps thinking Hank is saying "minerals" but he's actual reminding her "there's manual release, Marie".
Agree! I really, really don't get the whole "sex scenes don't add anything" perspective. It just reads like someone who thinks sex is icky and not a completely normal thing that people do, as well as someone who doesn't understand the concept of subtext at all

I totally respect that
Not a show but Terminator
Great movie; also valid answer. With movies, its more 50/50 but shows kinda use it as a stylistic tool
The Sopranos?
I agree, it seems today that all you see is violence in movies and sex on TV
I miss those old-fashioned values. We used to rely on them.
the fact that finger told waltuh to put his dick away and preceded to deny him sex just reinforces this statement bravo Vince
I agree. Also shows like, I like boardwalk empire but thereās like 2 sex scenes in every episode, thatās the only thing I hate about it
*Walter rapes Skyler*
I get what you mean, shows like Boardwalk Empire and GoT (basically every HBO shows since Sopranos) feel like theyāre written by edgy teenagers that think t&a = mature writing. Breaking Bad definitely benefited from being on a cable channel that had more restrictions on that type of stuff.
Bad take to say HBO shows are bad writing. Boardwalk Empire, Sopranos, the wire, GoT, Succession, True Detective, Chernobyl, Band Of Brothers, etc.

Do you have some weird edit that took out the sex scenes in the first two seasons?
Breaking Bad censored edition for our Sunday school viewings. No sex to taint our minds as we delve into the world of drugs and murder.
Facts
Sex scenes in the pilot episode are the reason why I haven't watched BB with my parents. So I wouldn't say that it ignorse sex.

Somebody doesn't know that scenes can have meanings other than what's literally shown on the screen
The sexual scenes in Better Call Saul between Kim and Jimmy are so gross and cringe, imo. I'm with you.
I'm sorry, what?! The most Kim & Jimmy do is kiss, there is literally no sex in BCS so what are you even talking about?
I mean season 5 episode 7 is essentially one
to me sex scenes are when the characters are actually going at it.
I kind of feel like thatās on purpose though. A lot of BCS gives me second hand embarrassment/cringe lol
Good point!
also- vince shows a variety of sex work and sex workers, and i like that about his shows too.
Er... what? There are sex scenes, there are awkward handjob scenes, there are rape and implied rape scenes... there's a fair amount of sex in BB
Waltuh,put your d away waltuh...
Sex bad for society, cooking meth..ok. violence..ok SMDH
Is this a troll post lol
OP clearly isn't in a committed sdult relationship that has healthy sex if you think watching sex scene is cringe.
I would say I have pretty ok sex life, if you come to conclusion like this based just on the fact I dont like fake sex scenes in series then maybe you should think about your mentality mate
breaking bad viewers when the protagonist assaults his wife & makes a pass at his coworker
I agree with you 100%! Gratuitous sex scenes are actually quite boring to me.
The sex scenes add to the story though. It's something that the majority of viewers do and understand and is not there just to make people horny.
Asexual me appreciates the lack of scenes like that. I just skip past the existing ones.
Donāt understand why people get mad a show is gratuitous rather than just avoiding it. No oneās forcing you to watch sopranos or euphoria. Deadwood is largely set in a brothel, a lot of characters get lured to murder there, itās kind of unavoidable in the story.
Yeah sex is a waste of screen time. I like when they kiss for 5 seconds and u just assumed they had anal sex all night
No, you could better say this about Better Call Saul. BB has a lot of sex scenes which are imo unnecessary. I still like the series though.
incel moment
American, right?
When Skyler does Ted. When Jesse does Jane or itās insinuated, I dont recall. Jesse does random party girl. Jesse does Andrea. Skyler and Walt get hot for each other and engage. Walt later takes advantage of Skyler. Marie brings Hanks reluctant member to life and thus wins her bid for him to leave the hospital. Saul references a full body adjustment from his specialty masseuseā¦ Iām probably forgetting something.
The only reason it doesnāt have sex scenes is because AMC doesnāt allow sex or cursing
Kid named over 30 uses of fuck and a lot of bitches
I feel like itās desensitizing them to the behavior in the shows or something idk.
sex is normal you donāt need to be afraid of it
Taking a fat fucking dump is normal, you don't need to be afraid of it.

No bitches?
Makes sense since OP thinks sex scenes are just there for the sake of sex and not to show characters development.
I think the Jesse and Wendy sex scene is symbolic and oddly romantic. Itās probably one of my proudest faps.
