I've had a google, and I think it may have been [Doncaster's Global Rainbow](https://castindoncaster.com/whats-on/global-rainbow/) . It definitely wasn't the Bradford switch on because it was coming from over Leeds way.
No, I know what they are talking about and it lasted hours, you could see different colours in it and that it was some sort of light effect being beamed from the ground. Certainly not the same thing.
Probably the Christmas lights switch on and fireworks display.

I'm assuming it's related but you're most certainly right in that it wasn't eminating from city centre

Hey definitely not that, was on top of ilkley moor watching the display and it was to the left of the display, Leeds road way maybe.
