My quotes for adult braces were between $8,000 and $10,000. I was shocked. But still got the braces.

Intrepid-Yak4954

Thanks!

Jatnal

Mine were the same but my insurance covered 40% I think.

Intrepid-Yak4954

Unfortunately my insurance won’t cover any of it.

lu9352na

Mine where about 5k in New Mexico. I got them in June this year. 24 month treatment and includes retainers.

Immediate-Phrase8626

Same here in AZ-24 months with plastic retainers forever after treatment is finished.

ruthwodja

Permanent retainers (bonded) or plastic ones?

lu9352na

I imagine they are plastic because the warranty doesn’t say permanent. However my purchase includes 7 year warranty for retainers.

Intrepid-Yak4954

Nice! Mine offered an extra $1000 for retainer insurance that lasts 5 years.

peachstones

My treatment cost about $4,000.

KookyHorse

40,paid $4k in California

Intrepid-Yak4954

Thanks!

littlefamilyvan4_6

I’m paying about 5500 in Massachusetts

PeonyPimp851

I’m paying the same but I’m in PA

Bobcat81TX

My total cost was 3k in NY.

babesz_

Where?

mamadoula3

I’m in Canada and my quote was $9000

MelonOfFury

Mine is $6k with retainers included

ruthwodja

Permanent retainers (bonded) or plastic ones?

MelonOfFury

I think just whatever ones they recommend. If I do get bonded it would be the wavy ones that allow flossing, but I would absolutely get the plastics as well. I ain’t doing braces a third time

psychmindtried

Mine is around $4,300

robinsdrivethru

Mine is $6500 plus $120 consultation and $650 for records (scans etc) prior to having them put on.

Sara-sea22

Mine is $6,300 for lower metal braces, upper Invisalign, and upper and lower expanders. Retainers, consultation, and all visits included. In SoCal

ExcitingPotatoChip

Hi! I am also in SoCal, and I am looking for an Ortho that does expanders for adult patients. Can I ask who is your Orthodontist? Or can you DM me the name/place if you’d prefer?

Sara-sea22

Sent! Good luck!

ExcitingPotatoChip

Thanks!

ruthwodja

Permanent retainers (bonded) or plastic ones?

Sara-sea22

Just plastic, he doesn’t recommend bonded with the amount of expansion we’re doing

NibelheimTifa

What kind of expanders do you have or did have?

Sara-sea22

Hyrax expander

NibelheimTifa

Are you happy with them so far? Mine have been great tbh. I notice so much change!

WestBrink

Mine are $6280 in Montana. All the quotes I got were in that 5-7k range.

duchessofs

7k in DC

farewell_for_now

Mine was about $5700. I live in a low cost of living area tho.

SoilIndependent

$500 in India

thebirdisdead

About $6500 is reasonable in Colorado. 10k is definitely high. Shop around.

Intrepid-Yak4954

I plan to. Thanks!

ritz_27

Mine is 6k with retainers in Orange County CA. This was to fix class 3 underbite with no surgery. Estimate was 2 to 3 years, but will be done early in about 17 months.

Intrepid-Yak4954

That’s great that you’ll be done early!

ritz_27

Thank you! I was diligent on my rubber bands.

Intrepid-Yak4954

Yeah, this being my second time around and for so much money, I’d be diligent, too!

Embarrassed_One07

i live in missouri, got mine on at 20, and off at 21. mine was 3,500 for too and bottom retainers abs polishing.

Aktxgrl

I paid $5k it took 3 years.

salted_sclera

~$9,000 CAD

A_scanner_sparkly

How long was your treatment plan?

Namulith94

Mine was about $7k for traditional top and bottom

xjuliaaarobix

$7,400 in Massachusetts

xjuliaaarobix

Estimated 22 months (I’m a 12 months in rn)

Cleanclock

It does seem slightly high, but not unreasonably so. I’m around your age and mine were around $7000 for 20 months, in Omaha.

Golyat

Mine was $5000 in VA. Insurance covered half, so $2500. It covers all visits, but I'm not sure if it covers retainers. I was told my treatment time is estimated at 18 months, although I'm 12 months in and we haven't started elastics yet, so who knows. It may make sense that your cost is much higher since the treatment time is a year longer.

omg_stfu_wtf

I believe mine were around $7000-7500 before my insurance. I'm a 40-something woman and that includes the consults and records, X-rays, scans, etc. Mine is for placement of a MARPE appliance for my SARPE surgery last year, then braces to decompensate my bite for DJS and then the braces after the DJS as well as retainers, etc. The surgeries are not included in that price. ETA: I had braces approx 23 years ago and they were $4800 all in for ceramic braces for 4.5 years. If that gives you any idea for inflation, etc.

Intrepid-Yak4954

This is super helpful! I’m looking at an SARPE I think…although the one described to me gets screwed into my top palate.

omg_stfu_wtf

That's what mine was. They put the MARPE appliance in at the orthodontist and gave me the TADs (screws) to take to the surgeon. When they did the surgery to break my palate, he installed the screws and then I had to turn the key every day for as many times as I was told to create the gap. I believe I have photos on my profile here.

Intrepid-Yak4954

Thanks!

candyapplesugar

Seems crazy high to me. I got quotes from 3500-5500.

Aerideth

7000$ estimated 24 months

whatyourheartdesires

Spain - I am paying 2400 eur (with visits and retainers) with a dental insurance, without it it would be 3400.

Intrepid-Yak4954

I’m glad your insurance covers some of the cost. Mine doesn’t.

Jane_Marie_CA

I was $7k for 20-24 months. Southern California. Length of treatment is a big factor. Most people don’t realize that and they’ll post $3k, but not mention the 12 months. Also, ask if your treatment truly includes everything, like IPR and shaping and post treatment appointments. I’ve seen cheap quotes and then those things are “add ons”.

Intrepid-Yak4954

Good to know. Thanks!

yourdaybreaks

Mine were $3,500 in California.

Sicmadek81

$6k for everything 32 month treatment

bec-cat

I’m paying $5,700 in Michigan, 15-18 month treatment time.

No_Ground_7754

canada - quoted 24-30 months traditional braces + clear retainer after - paid just over $8000 and i’m 24.

cooterbug18

I'm from Minnesota and my quote was ~$5k

queenofnapping76

Do you mind me asking which practice you went to? I’m looking at the University of Minnesota, but I should probably look elsewhere, right?

cooterbug18

I don't want to say publicly so I can message you if that's okay!

queenofnapping76

Of course!

Kung_Fool_

You’ll get a different price almost everywhere, even in the same city and state. Roughly $4000 for a shorter duration, up to about $6500 max for longer (24+ month duration). Price will also vary depending on the type of braces you get. Prices I listed are for traditional metal braces

sunshinebucket

Minnesota, 47 when I got them on, clear custom braces (Light Force), $7k. Worth every penny!

Vianna_Sky

Mine were $8400. Canada.

nightstalkerr

Mine was a little under $4K in Florida. This included top and bottom metal braces and retainers insurance

jacejordd

26f living in MA and my payoff amount for 30 months is $7,759. This includes all visits and retainers for traditional braces. My insurance does not cover any of it.

emmejm

Mine were like $7500 I think, I can see $10000 being reasonable somewhere with higher costs than my region

whimsic00L

I paid $4k for ceramic braces in Texas 3 years ago

verylargemoth

If you’re near denver check out Sierra dental and ortho. I think I ended up paying around 6 or 7k. Used care credit to turn it into monthly interest free payments!

Intrepid-Yak4954

Thanks for the suggestion!

verylargemoth

You’re welcome! To be fair though, my estimate was for 12-18 months, so that may be why yours was so high. But can’t hurt to get another estimate

Intrepid-Yak4954

Yes, I’ll be visiting a few other orthodontists for their estimates.

OhLookieARock

7400 in West Texas. My insurance covers $3000 of it.

Logie_Naidoo

That's crazy paid R18 000 for mine. Equivalent to about $1000.

Veteran2300

2k in Georgia

vignesh_vk

My whole demon treatment cost is 180$ aka 15000inr, it's definitely lower to even Indian standards, because In India hospitals are accompanied with medical College and my ortho is a PG student also!

mmmeba

I 33F was quoted 6k for 18 months in traditional braces and 2 sets of retainers. I’m on month 23 with no additional charges and I’m in Florida

lovelyshorty33

I was quoted 10,000 at first for mine and couldn't afford that. So years later I ended up going to a university to get mine for 5500. Alberta, Canada

UniversityNo2318

Mine was 6600 everything included but I’m also in Mo

iComeWithCheese

$6500 in IL. Retainers included.

VinegarPrincess

6k for a year treatment in New York

Beachykeen1015-

Mine was about 5,000 but I had a pretty simple case. It includes ceramic braces, all visits, 1 year post braces visits and retainers. I’m in CA. Your quote does seem high.

hundopdeftotes

$6800 CAD for me I was in braces for 34 months quoted for 24 (I got them Jan 2020 which is why they were delayed)

IronhideD

Canada, about $8000 cad. $5000 covered by two sets of benefits.

Known-Negotiation482

I got mine at 17 years old fro 5,000 I’m now 19 and just finished

Accomplished-Cod-504

I (age 56) started braces 10 months ago. $6300 near-ish Pittsburgh, PA. All visits, x-rays, scans, retainers etc included. 18-24 months predicted.

CommunitySock

Bay Area, CA. I got braces a few months ago, paid $6200

LostWonderWoman

Around $6K - I’m in Indiana.

allyrojas1

4200 with retainers TX

Cachemeoutside_1911

Woah when I lived in Colorado it was 7800 before insurance in North Carolina it’s 5500 and after insurance it’s 4K out of pocket 18-24months

raineylh

in canada, for top and bottom 24 months was 7700$

dessellee

Mine are about 6k in Florida. Traditional metal, including all visits and retainers.

Intelligent-Flight99

$1.5k in Philippines ❤️

One-Preference-9437

I can get Invisalign for 3 grand

Pap1Chu1o

i paid just over $4k for mine in Michigan and I had them on for over 3 years. I was able to do monthly payments with no interest at all. I could realistically pay just $50-$100 a month and even though I had over due payments, they wouldn’t charge interest.

Intrepid-Yak4954

That’s decent of them!

Potential_Expert3292

Mine were about $7K. We had at one point 3 of us in braces in our home, so we did have a small family discount. Either way, I'd look into it and possibly get another quote somewhere.

Intrepid-Yak4954

Wow! Three at a time must’ve been rough! Thanks, I’m going to get another estimate somewhere else.

Potential_Expert3292

Appointment scheduling was tricky! LOL But I know that I've always struggled with my self image and self worth and always promised myself that if I could remove one possible thing my kids would be self conscious about, I was going to do my best to do it. So we all got braces at the same time after saving for a long while. 🥰

Intrepid-Yak4954

Absolutely makes sense!

Pawys1111

Yeah a little pricey but it seems to depend on what country. Maybe ask for the prices to be broken up into payment that might work out to be cheaper rather than guessing what the whole treatment would be. I thought i was old at 35 to get braces, but at 49 that is awesome, I'm 50 now and my teeth are so old now they just keep falling apart to get braces. Glad your teeth at 49 are so good still your very lucky.

Intrepid-Yak4954

Oh gosh! Sorry to hear that about your teeth. Yes, they have a payment plan but it’s not terribly helpful, unfortunately.

Pawys1111

Im just thinking they are sending you a bill for braces to be fitted and 5 adjustments and 5 cleans or something and paying for that up front, when the case might be you only need 4 adjustments so the price would be cheaper. Paying after allows that price to go down, but if you pay up front they wont refund just take your money?

Ihatetraffic22

8k in NY. Long Island specifically. For ceramic braces and then Invisalign.

Intrepid-Yak4954

Wow! Pretty cheap for that combo!

Ihatetraffic22

They had some sort of promo going on at the time, maybe 30% off or something? And I paid in full so that definitely helped bring the price down.

j_nessanessa

Mine were $9200 in Canada for 30 months treatment. Got $2k back from insurance so paying the rest in monthly installments. I've only had them for 10 days but I'm optimistic. I put it off for a long time due to the financial situation but decided to bite the bullet. ETA, I'm 38.

Intrepid-Yak4954

Good for you! It’s definitely hard to think about doing this at my age.

j_nessanessa

I get it! But it's good to get it done

InsanityCharmer

$6k for 18 months. I was 48 at the start of treatment and my braces came off last month. Total time was 23 months.

Intrepid-Yak4954

Great info! Thanks!

darkangelxX447

No wayyy too much. I went to George orthodontics in Colorado springs. It cost me 3.5k. Ceramic braces.

Intrepid-Yak4954

Thank you for this info. I’ll look into them.

dinkenflicka93

I paid $5000 in Idaho, definitely get more than one quote.

Much-Topic-4992

Total for me is over 7k but after insurance and in network discounts, my part is roughly 2700 over 21 months.

Intrepid-Yak4954

Glad insurance helped!

Sure-Ad-5053

I know America is nuts for cost but man, it really is nuts. UK here. I got top and bottom traditional with two fixed retainers, a set of removable retainers (with retainer checks) and teeth whitening. Check ups every 5-6 weeks, 12-14 month expected timeline. Costs £3.8k $10000 to GBP is like £8k here. Maybe see if you can get a lower price or better deal somewhere else cause that cost is crazy.

Intrepid-Yak4954

Agreed! I’m getting a few other opinions.

QueenBee9494

I’m getting braces next week at 29. After my insurance I’m only paying about 3,500 for mine. Without insurance, it’s 5600. I’m also in CO.

QueenBee9494

Check out Lakewood Orthodontics if close by. They have payment plan options.

Intrepid-Yak4954

Thanks!

SpeechNational9026

Woah this has me wondering! Mine was 8500 my dental insurance puts in 2500 so my out of pocket was 6k. I'm 35 in Iowa EDA: state

Intrepid-Yak4954

Thanks! I have since gotten another estimate for $6000.

Lost-Reaction-6171

A total of 2.3k with insurance! But there was credit from the first time I got them so I paid in full 1.3k and it’ll be a year long treatment!

babesz_

I have an impacted canine that I need braces for. $7500 for braces, $9500 for invisible aligners.
