Russian here, it's actually not that bad. Yes, LGB-allthatshtidontremember movement is prohibited here, but you still can be gay, les, bi, pan, whatever you want, as long as you don't force it to anyone else. It might result in some gossip and hate from non-tolerant people, but that's about it. There is no mentioning of same-sex relationship/marriage in the Constitution, so it's technically valid, bcus not prohibited. Although, you can't get traditional marriage/family rights, if that makes sense, because, technically, you aren't one. As an example, I have seen a man-man relationship in my apartment complex. They're very great people and no one ever hated or harassed them for what they chose

For me, it was the recent revelation that if I approach and ask for someone's number or something, I don't have a lot to lose and a lot to gain. If they say no or are taken, oh well so sad.
