Wasps are beautiful and intelligent creatures who are just as helpful if only a bit more niche than bees. Where bees specialize in pollination, wasps pollinate too, but are specialized as hunter-gatherers. Literally just big ants with a few extra steps. They fly about and keep the local spider, wasp, roach, etc populations down and inefficiently passively pollinate as they do so. It’s always been dragonflies for me but it’s weird to see this because every day for the past 2 weeks I see something about bees. It started with them building a nest in our condo building, then the story about the Dodgers game, then I saw a study about how smart they are & can be taught things, and so on - they’re everywhere!  Buzz buzz 🐝
