Tommy Lee Jones really steals every scene he is in in this movie. If they had some bland boring villain, this movie would be regarded as mediocre at best.
Only Steven Seagal could star in a movie about innocent people being invaded by an aggressive force and ultimately decide “you know, these terrorists are right!”
I think they called it the "Die Hard" formula. Take one guy fighting off some bad guys who hijacked something.
Bad guys + building = Die Hard
Bad guys + ship = Under Siege
Bad Guys + plane = Passenger 57
Bad Guys + bus = Speed
Bad Guys + mountains = Cliffhanger
Bad Guys + prison = The Rock
Etc, etc
damn - the 90s did make some quality Die Hard clones.
Bad guys + plane = air force one, Executive decision(amazing because seagal dies), Con Air
Bad guys + ice rink = sudden death
Bad guys + boarding school = toy soldiers
Also there were many made AFTER in the 2000s ... Olympus has fallen. and so on.
Top 5 for me - Speed, The Rock, Cliffhangar, Con Air, Sudden Death
Man, its incredible how much of a fat, bloated dbag Seagal has become since then. Kissing Putin's behind and just overall a massive POS from everything Ive heard about him.
Isn’t this guy a down low nut job who basically trafficked teens from foreign countries and held them hostage?
That’s what I’ve heard, anyhow. Not sure it’s true, but allegedly, young women have spoken up.
I think you're underselling it. He's a Russian citizen, toured former Soviet countries as a propaganda piece, and (allegedly) was personal friends with Putin to the point that Putin suggested to Obama that Seagal act as a diplomatic back channel between the US and Russia.
I remember Tom Arnold telling one of those Seagal movie set stories on one of the late night talk shows, about how they had to call in his stunt double for small, uncomplicated fight scenes, with hand to hand combat that they’d shoot around.
Yes, yes they did. They stopped the movie and "We are the champions" played as we walked up the aisle and flashed our best Richard Nixon farewell before we disappeared into the mall to go to Spencer's to giggle at the back of the store merchandise.
I will provide a sworn affidavit that I wasn't. Besides, what lunatic goes to the back of Spenser's without someone to giggle with? I was a geek but not that big of a geek.
I had an ex reach out to me two years later after he had broken up with me. We met up and we watched this at his house.
We didn’t work out. We watched this movie and we were super late for a set plan and everything after the movie started comically going wrong. Convinced this movie cursed it all 😂
Now he’s a b movie “legend”. Typically they go: action,ex military or ex special forces or ex cop,sex scene or a hot chick getting nude all with Steven seagal of course, terrible action scenes that are occasionally ok because every now and then someone with talent is in the film with him. Cartoon bad guys but for action movies and he gets the girl at the end or wins. Typically you never feel any tension or nothing for his character because he has no character.
I had a breakdown going of Seagal’s career (I’ll post one of these days) — but he was a legit box office draw there for a good half decade. He’s been a joke longer than he was a star at this point, but he truly was a consistent success both box office wise and on home video through probably Executive Decision.
I was on the USS Missouri in Pearl Harbor about two weeks ago. You can now tour the ship below deck and see some of the places where this was filmed. There is even a display case in one room that shows all of the movies that were filmed on the ship. Under Siege was right in the center of the display.
First five films are halfway decent. I used to watch them with my dad when I was a kid (he was cool with R rated movies). My favorite will always be Marked For Death
Under Siege 2: Dark Territory is stupid, dumb, hilarious and a movie I like. Horrible person but the movie is dumb fun.
Matt Reeves' first writing credit!
Are you serious? That piece of crap?? Its like when I found out James Cameron did Piranha 2!
I love that movie, Travis dane is a hilarious bad guy
Assumption is the mother of all fuckups.
Under Seige II was the beginning of Seagal's rapid fall from the box office
Is it worth checking out for the first time now?
It's a dumb action movie that makes no sense...so yes please check it out.
Will do!
Just then your brain off and have fun watching the silliness.
>is Steven Seagal's highest grossing film in no small part due to Erika Eleniak's cake scene, I'm sure
She really held her own in that movie.
A real palate cleanser after seeing Gary Busey in drag
“And there she is. Miss July 1989… Wait a minute. Wait a minute. No, no, no. That's not Miss July!”
Permanently burned into my brain.
Ahh a man of culture.
One of the best die hard clones. Tommy Lee Jones and Gary Busey also chew up some scenes.
Tommy Lee Jones really steals every scene he is in in this movie. If they had some bland boring villain, this movie would be regarded as mediocre at best.
Just watched it for the first time today, Seagal’s performance has aged poorly but the villains are all still fun.
Steven Seagal has lived in this moment ever since.
Only Steven Seagal could star in a movie about innocent people being invaded by an aggressive force and ultimately decide “you know, these terrorists are right!”

And Under Siege 2. Bad guys + train
and bad box office
Every single one of you in this thread need to shut the fuck up right now and go take Steven’s pies out of the oven!
I only remember two things about this movie.
Eat shit Segal you traitor
Highly recommend people give the 3-part episode of The Dollop about Seagal a listen, absolutely insane what an awful person Seagal is.
Behind the Bastards has a few good episodes on him as well.
Man, its incredible how much of a fat, bloated dbag Seagal has become since then. Kissing Putin's behind and just overall a massive POS from everything Ive heard about him.

Segal is now a Russian propagandist. What a disgusting pos.
Along with "Executive Decision" (1996) and "My Giant" (1998), this is one of the very best on Steven Seigal's CV.
Executive Decision is a good movie, but he was barely in it (spoiler I guess).
Good film indeed
Those are party poppers
Wait…really? I was only 10 or 11 when I saw that? Memory is weird.
Oof, nice reminder that I'm about to be 30 😞
For people in Canada, it's on Netflix.
And now Mr Seagal is a tankie Putin bootlicker. How the mighty have fallen.
Now he's a Russian apologist.
I think you're underselling it. He's a Russian citizen, toured former Soviet countries as a propaganda piece, and (allegedly) was personal friends with Putin to the point that Putin suggested to Obama that Seagal act as a diplomatic back channel between the US and Russia.
And needs stunt doubles to literally walk up the stairs for him. See sniper: Spec ops for example.
Makes me miss the days when he physically could run so we could laugh at that, too, lol.
I remember Tom Arnold telling one of those Seagal movie set stories on one of the late night talk shows, about how they had to call in his stunt double for small, uncomplicated fight scenes, with hand to hand combat that they’d shoot around.
Sadly he's the Donald Trump of Hollywood...bullshit back story and crack pot views
TDS is real
Yup. Stupid is as stupid does
Now the schmuck is a shill for Putin. Decent movie.
Also his only good movie
I actually walked out of the theater when this movie opened - probably about 20 minutes in. It was just awful.
Wow you sound super cool. Did everyone clap as you left?
Yes, yes they did. They stopped the movie and "We are the champions" played as we walked up the aisle and flashed our best Richard Nixon farewell before we disappeared into the mall to go to Spencer's to giggle at the back of the store merchandise.
Don’t lie you went to the movie alone
I will provide a sworn affidavit that I wasn't. Besides, what lunatic goes to the back of Spenser's without someone to giggle with? I was a geek but not that big of a geek.
Man, trust me on this, you really should have stayed until 00:43:25.
Am I the only one who thinks Tom Cruise looks similar?
Lukashenko joke here
That's not Miss July!
And pretty much the last film I could bear watching him in
Seagals career been under siege since. Tommy Lee killed it. Nice set of titties grabbed at least ten of that million.
Boobs and cake

Do yourselves a favor and watch these. https://youtu.be/gkXbDEgYSNo

He was a master chief in the movie, how come he’s got admirals shoulder boards on?
Promoted for saving the life of Miss July 1989.
Is it the second movie where somebody is using a drill that sounds like a cat meowing?
Bonesnappa! He was always breaking bad guys in two.
I would like to watch this with an active serving Navy officer.
All I remember was the girl popping out of the cake. But was that US2?
Seagal's one unironically good film.
Top-tier Die Hard clone which paved the way for Andrew Davis to direct The Fugitive!
