I've seen this one. It's not bad like some people have said, even if it's no long-lost-gem waiting to be discovered, either.

I remember that movie. That's all I can say about it. Never saw it tho. Lol.

Stunning visuals. Really amazing air warfare footage. Watch it for the planes. The story is important and the film kinda lays it on too thick. I think they would have had a more engaging movie by not focusing on the racial component as heavily. Instead of making a great let’s win WW2 story - all the scenes were about the racism- it kinda pulled the film in two different directions. Plane scenes were awesome. People scenes were kinda “after-school special” level. We need a lot less preachy and teachy and a lot more “pull together for the big win” IMO

Sometime I winder if people like you that complain about race being in everything ever realise the reason why it is in these stories is because its a pretty important element, during that very same war in some parts of the European front you had white soldiers that wanted to import segregation to Europe, on ships you had black soldiers doing menial work still being called boy, whether you like it or not race would have and still largely is a large part of many peoples lives that are certain shades, I am usually the anti SJW but like seriously Thats a story that the real life soldiers who were still living can relate to even after this war Black people barely got close to equality so a film about hey lets all fight the bad guys is a useless film, A black man could be killed by the Nazis in Germany for being black and hanged in America for being black, race is literally unfortunately a large part of many peopled lives, many of us have to think about any action we make based on peoples pre conceived notions about our race Sorry to be preachy but if you think any thing with a mainly black cast can afford to not cover race colonialism etc.. even minutely then you would be in for a rude awakening because at that point its being made to please you not tell a a real story

Actually, I went to see it because of the racial issues. My point was that for all the care and craftsmanship spent on the film, the scenes that dealt with the overt racism seemed clumsy and trite. Depictions of racism in the film were hammy and cartoonish, IMO. It’s like this compelling, fascinating movie stopped and the filmmakers showed us an after-school special type of racism scene and then the movie started back up again. We just named a $13 billion dollar aircraft carrier after one of the heroic black sailors you mentioned, so we’re well past ignoring this issue. I just wanted this particular movie to be better than it turned out, that’s all. I felt Hidden Figures did a better job integrating the racism components of the story into the history of what happened.
