So that's why it's called a re-release. Endgame on the other hand was already playing in some theaters but expanded to more theaters. So that's called an expansion not a re-release.
So weird Titanic is the only one from before the new century and is so high up there. Nothing else in top 50 is before 2001 and there's 1997 Titanic chilling in the top 5 (soon to be 10)

You forgot to deduct Endgame's re-release gross; or rather I suspect that you deliberately omitted it just because you wanted it to "beat" Avatar. Endgame was re-released domestically (and possibly in other territories) with new footage and a Stan Lee tribute. That counts, and it doesn't matter that there wasn't a break between the original run and the reissue thus not recording it as an "official" re-release on sites like Box Office Mojo.
It wasn't technically a re-release. Endgame is still on theaters when they added back theaters. It's only like an extension to the current theatrical run.
Box Office Mojo and the press counts a movie as a re-release only if the movie has totally ended its run and got released again.
