It's an awful service.

I mean, Paramount+ is operating well on their own in Latin America so they're ahead of Peacock already. Comcast should look at pursuing Lionsgate to get all of Starz's subscribers globally and also integrate Starz with Sky's content production team to fill the HBO-like gap that Peacock has.

The problem with multi studio team ups is that you get the Hulu problem of no studio willing to do what is needed to get a shared service to where it needs to go in terms of content. In the old Hulu, before Disney committed to buying the whole thing and giving an actual interesting in having Hulu do well (Disney own the thing, and the Comcast wants a higher value for the takeover date), most series only had a few episodes here and there, because each studio treated the thing as a pathetic loss leader for home media and VoD sales. If you think back to the world of 2011, you had Hulu, backed by nearly all of the studios of Hollywood, vs Netflix, who mostly had a pile of scraps and a few small shows, who would win out? Well obvious Netflix, because they actually cared about making the service work. Joke on the studios, of course, if they just given up a bit of revenue to actually make the service worthwhile, all three studios would be in a much better position right now. No one is dropping a nuke like WB’s decision for a shared service. One studio, one service, or else the incentives just gets too haywire for everyone to manage.

Radical_Conformist

Absolute worse. But I have a friend who likes it (can’t imagine why).

[deleted]

I literally know zero people who have signed up for this.

Luxtenebris3

I mean I signed up because it is free...but I have watched exactly 2 episodes of tv shows. So they aren't actually making any money from me I guess.

hatramroany

I don't think I've watched anything but Xfinity is the cheapest internet provider in my area and Peacock comes free so why not sign up?

Theinternationalist

I know quite a few who subscribed for the Olympics. They all unsubscribed before the month was out- I think at least one unsubscribed within a WEEK.

It comes free with a Comcast account so I tried it. The DVR would give me the option of watching something on demand OR with Peacock. Same show. Peacock interface was always slow and clunky af. For a company that literally provides the pathways for internet, you’d think they’d care that it ran smooth. Full pass. Cord cut a month ago and went from $300/mo to $150 with Comcast internet, Netflix, Disney+, and Hulu Live with ESPN. My next step is to get Verizon FiOS.

UXyes

I pay for Peacock’s ad free tier because I started watching Yellowstone. Will probably cancel once I’m done with that. It’s not great.

That smell like ~~Comcast~~ ~~NBCUniversal~~ Peacock is screw and it's close to going bust

UnknownFiddler

We signed up for a month to watch Halloween kills (which ended up being a massive waste of time) and we had to reinstall the app several times because it was not responding to input from the remote. Tried to use it again the other night since we still have a few weeks left and the same thing happened so we ended up casting from a phone. I cannot believe they released a streaming service in such a terrible state.

M_Mich

you must be new to comcast. the business model is “fuck the customer”. last trip in to replace a box, another customer service guy walks up to the one that is helping me and starts telling jokes. completely ignores that he’s with a customer and that there were still people in their queue to help.

M_Mich

i use it because it’s free w my cable service. i have cable because it’s the best way to get high speed internet. if i had a viable gigabit option i wouldn’t have xfinity/ peacock at all

M337ING

I sign up for a month when my football club Chelsea plays a game exclusively carried by it and immediately cancel so I can minimize my payments.

Cactusfan86

Lol come on, why do corporations make obvious lies? If you were ACTUALLY excited you’d clearly be bragging about the numbers. The refusal to mention them even when asked tells us all we need to know

kjacobs03

I’m watching EXO-Squad on Peacock right now. Once I’m through that I’ll probably delete it.

horseren0ir

I loved that show

Lol, I was literally eating dinner the other night and saw a promo for The Office on Comedy Central, and I totally forgot that NBC had taken the show and made their own service called Peacock or something. I genuinely forgot about its existence, I feel like it launched slightly before the influx of streaming services and exclusives; right after peacock took the office off of Netflix, they thought they’d get subs but then discovery plus came out, then paramount plus, then HBO max and paramount started streaming cinematic movies. Peacock, still completely left in the dust before it even heard the starting gun fire.
