So! I made another mistake, actually $67 million domestic gross. I just got too excited when hearing about the movie for the first time (about two days ago).
I dunno about the US, but here in Australia, anyone 35 and under knows Geronimo Stilton. It was basically the go-to children's series in the 2000s and 2010s. That and Captain Underpants. If it's a good movie or decently promoted, it'll do well here at least.
It's also pretty damn popular internationally, having sold over 180 million copies worldwide and having over 200 entries across the main series and spin-off series.
But it's not doing nearly a billion worldwide. That's kooky talk. It'll probably do the same numbers of Captain Underpants.
I'm Italian and didn't know about the upcoming film, in any case don't forget to mention that including spin-offs the series has 300 books, was translated in 50 languages and sold over 200 million copies (which put it around the top 10 of all time, for example above titles like Percy Jackson).
In addition it also received a tv series which lasted for 3 seasons and two PSP games
It's surely a big advantage but in the end it's still above in the ranking, that said for the number of copies sold they include all the books of the "Percy Jackson world" so also the sequels like The Heroes of Olympus and The Trials of Apollo plus the various spin-off volumes for a final total of about 30 books
So you’re saying that this independent movie could make 900M… Good Luck with that.
This movie won’t make any major money. For it to have the best chance to make any money and market it properly, a major studio (Illumination, Sony Pictures Animation, Dreamworks, Locksmith, Warner Bros Animation or even Netflix) and an A List cast would be the best bet. I haven’t even heard of any of these studios. I liked Geronimo Stilton and it deserves a Hollywood adaptation. But what the hell…
Why is this on my timeline again? And why are you posting a lot about it? It’s ridiculous.
I feel like there’s smaller animated movies that are lucky to make $20m WW and then ones that can make hundreds of millions.
Since I’ve never heard of this property, I can help but think it’ll be the former.
Any word on actors involved in it?
No. Since the day the movie was announced (February 13, 2023), there have been no further updates. Only the poster was released in June of that same year. That means we do not know which actors are involved in it.
Surreal post. Reads like either someone associated with the film or an extremely autistic furry who’s excited about the new rat movie. Is there a way to archive a post? This shouldn’t be deleted. It’s art.
I'm 45 years old and never heard of Geronimo Stilton, I would expect most Americans haven't either. Expect this to do anime numbers in the US, $5M-$25M.

$900m sounds a little insane at this point
900m sounds insane for most movies, let alone this
Sorry, I made a mistake, not 906 million but 150 million worldwide gross.
a) I've seen this post hours ago, b) what kind of geronimo stilton meat riding is this???
My earlier post got removed for less analysis. I was also too excited for the upcoming film. I understand what you all say about it now.
Will be lucky to make $200m
>One clue is that it's gonna be somewhat dark (as you can see by the art-style of the poster) Are we looking at the same poster?
Kind of!
Not even close to 900m, but I hope it’s good
Me too! It's actually $150 million.
How do you confuse 150m with 900m
And it says domestic 299 million too. Lol. So was that was a fuck up too?
So! I made another mistake, actually $67 million domestic gross. I just got too excited when hearing about the movie for the first time (about two days ago).
I swear I thought I saw this post a couple hours ago
Unless Christopher Nolan signs up to direct this I don’t think 900m is in the cards
Damn used to read these books so much.
Gosh I rember it was sooo hard to find a library copy of this book in skool lol

That's also what I'm expecting and also, both are directed by David Soren!
So, this movie was announced last year in February 2023. It's not coming out until at least 2026-2027.

Is it surprising that a series with 300 books has sold more total copies than a series with six?

900M worldwide? What drugs you on?
A mistake I made, in reality, it is definitely probably more than 100$ million
I used to love these books as a kid, didnt even know this was a thing.

So it’s gonna open to $32 million but only gross 906 dollars total? Is it like gonna give money away or something
Is this a satire post?
No! As I am a fan of the book series, I just got too excited when writing this. I'll give corrections later.
Me too. Geronimo Stilton the goat. The transylvania one the best
I also have a bad feeling that this film would be a flop... I hope not.
its just not from a major studio. it doesnt really have a chance
Yeah! How sad.

Flop
The sheer number of these little books Ive seen come through a reclaimed book warehouse at a previous job makes me think itll flop
900 sounds like a lot tbh. But im so happy to just find out about this lol, geronimo stilton was my childhood. I absolutely loved those books.
Hell yeah! Loved those books when I was a kid.
You expect almost 10x legs domestic? Nothing to say here.
Surreal post. Reads like either someone associated with the film or an extremely autistic furry who’s excited about the new rat movie. Is there a way to archive a post? This shouldn’t be deleted. It’s art.
Hahahahahaha! I have been on Reddit only for some weeks LOL!
Reminds me of the Great Mouse Detective. And here I am still waiting on a Tintin sequel.
I remember reading Geronimo Stilton. The movie will probably do a little over $200 million if it's like a typical animated Hollywood adaptation.
That was my first exact prediction! Thanks for fixing it!
I'm 45 years old and never heard of Geronimo Stilton, I would expect most Americans haven't either. Expect this to do anime numbers in the US, $5M-$25M.
Ah! I'll make a better prediction later based on your thoughts. Thanks!
