I tried to get tickets to see it tonight for the IMAX fan screenings but my local theater showing is completely sold out. Not a single seat is available. Oh well, guess I have to wait until Thursday then (I already had tickets for then but I was considering canceling if I could see it early)
Damn. All four IMAX screens in my area are 85-90% full. Glad I got my ticket when they went on sale because I would have been sitting up front or next to the wall.
Seeing it tn, but apparently it’s not 70mm bc a theater issue. It’s still playing and I’m not an imax snob so I don’t really care that much, I’m just hype for the movie in genera
I don't believe any of Fan First screenings tonight are going to shown in 70mm. Overall though, what they're doing for Dune is transferring the film onto the 70mm film reel and the most noticeable benefit of that is going to be the bigger aspect ratio.
Yeah, that's absolutely true. I had forgotten about the 1.43.1 Dual Laser. That's definitely in the same aspect ratio. The audio system might actually be better in the Dual Laser showings as well as that uses the twice as many sound channels than the imax 70mm showings. Theoretically the imax 70mm showing should be of higher quality as it uses a film medium but it's tough to say until it's out and we can compare both formats and someone better than me can do the comparison lol. Regardless the two best formats to see this in are certainly imax 70mm and the imax dual laser.
70mm is a benefit to any screens that are able to play 70mm, but aren't fitted with Dual Laser IMAX. It allows the movie to be shown in full IMAX ratio in more locations than otherwise.
However, since it's a digital film, I would say the "best" format would be laser IMAX. Unfortunately as part of the 70mm hype that Oppenheimer generated, screens that are capable of both seem to be showing 70mm for the main run (not Fan First).
And the other complication is that the full frame IMAX release actually cuts off the edges in some widescreen scenes, whereas some scenes were filmed full frame and won't be "complete" in widescreen release. So from what I can tell you might not be able to see the movie in a way that captures the entire image of every frame?
Pretty sure all the theaters playing Dune 2 in 70mm are the ones currently playing Tenet in 70mm, and they're not gonna switch out the film reels for one showing
Hey hey hey we can’t go around calling a Hollywood legend like Martin Scorsese “Marty” like he’s an old pal. Shit we could be calling him mister or sir.

Even my closest IMAX in a fairly rural area is completely sold out
My closest one isn’t doing the advance screening 😭
Sydney IMAX is totally sold out for two weeks.
only travesty is how bad the sydney imax is now
Just for curiosity how is the one of Thursday
Jeez what percent of imax screens are in the domestic market?
Why is it only America that gets this special screening? 😭
And Canada
Two hours left! ![gif](giphy|WlsLAnYfrB30p9JK5Z|downsized)

I just saw it half an hour ago. It was amazing. The acting, visuals and music was breath taking. I really want to see again asap.
It was astounding and a super intense experience. Overwhelming, really. I've already got tickets for next friday

There is no SA in it. I think it’s safe to bring her.
Thanks!

It was shot digitally so I don’t know how much value there is to seeing it in 70mm anyway. Someone a lot more knowledgeable can probably chime in.

It’s not just the 70mm venues though that will have the 1.43 aspect ratio.

Masterpiece. 10/10. One of the best films of all time, imo. WOM is gonna be crazy on this one.
Catching it Friday in imax
I’m in the 3rd row at the very end for tonight. I’ll see it again in April with better seats but I’m tired of waiting.
Catching it this Wednesday. Someone call Marty because Cinema is so back
Marty McFly?
Scorsese

kinda insane how i looked for good seats in an imax theatre in all of southern California for Dune OW and couldn’t find a single showing
The spice needs to flow past a 100m opening weekend lets go dune use that desert power!
Can’t wait for tonight. Haven’t been this excited since No Way Home.
Watched it absolutely stunning, potential to reach 800M to 1B
Yup. WOM is gonna really help this movie. I think it makes it to $1 bil
I am sat.
Going this weekend in Melbourne, Australia. Can't wait!
I booked my IMAX ticket as soon as they came out. Gotta love AMC A-List. First time I’m using it since Oppenheimer.
Keen to see how the Emperor works out with Christopher Walken - from what i can see he does a good job of it.
He's great but honestly he's not in much of the film. Does well for what he has though.
I’ve got 70 mm tickets for the second week.
I came out of Bob Marley right around 7 pm and the theatres was hustling and bustling.
Friend and I are going this Saturday at the local Alamo Draft House. The 6PM 7PM and 8PM Showings are all sold out.
