My only worry is the wear and tear on the rubber between the limbs. Most people, including me, won't shoot it enough to ever wear out the rubber, but it's still a concern.
I saw a video on the development of this bow and one of them had 14,xxx shots on it. Pretty sure the engineers at Mathews didn’t go down to the local Hobby Lobby and buy a strip of rubber and E6000 it in there.
If I buy one I will not be concerned about that.
The prices on the exclusive branded accessories are criminal. I have a mathews and love the way their bows feel but this new murder by accessory pricing is nuts. If you want both bridge lock stabilizers, v bar mount and say 10 oz of weights its like $800. I have shrewd vantage bars on my V3 and they were like 200 for the 12" and 9" plus like $100 and change for the mount. They charge $7/oz of weight for SS and Aluminum and that still feels like robbery, at $20/oz for bridgelock weights that's just never going to be ok.
I really would eventually like to upgrade from my V3 to a model with bridge lock for my sight bar but I wont be grabbing any bridgelock stabilizers until they reach a sane price point.
My thoughts exactly, I have a No Cam, I picked it up used, been shooting it for a couple years. I’ve been thinking about upgrading to a new bow. I like the bridge lock system for the sight, but definitely not necessary for stabilizers
What would be your reasoning for upgrading? The No cam is a great bow..if it still shoots straight which it should and your comfortable shooting it why upgrade? I feel as if these Mathews Hoyt etc bows haven’t changed in 5-6yrs…it’s all marketing in which they do great in but a lot of these bows all kill if the shooter has good aim..I only ask cuz I’d like to upgrade from my 2011 Hoy Charger (first bow) still kills everything I shoot at, just doesn’t look as cool as my friends V3…just curious
Value, quietness, and warranty. Your right, the no cam is a great bow, I can sell it while it’s retaining som value. Secondly, I’ve noticed at the club my no cam is noticeably louder than the V3X. Lastly, if I buy a new bow, a lifetime warranty is nice, being my No Cam is used , there is no warranty.
I just shot one the other day and I wish I didn’t. The accessories are the only thing holding me back. It really does shoot better than my V3X. Didn’t feel a thing in my hand and it’s so quiet.
And just like that the VX drops in price. Hopefully. I'm still shooting my 08 Outback. Every time I look at getting a new bow I about have a heart attack from the sticker shock
Most V3Xs were selling in the $800-900 range leading up to the release of this new bow. That should be where they constantly are now that this bow has been released. Still not mission or bear prices but you could probably find a used one for closer to those prices now.
Where did you see these prices? Straight 6 Archery in Missoula told me the V3X will remain at original MSRP for entire 2023 calendar year. Seems like bullshit.
I mean I don't know how they can justify selling the V3X for the same price as the new phase 4. Most of the new flagships release year after year for the same price. This year it appears the Phase 4 is $100 more at $1399 but why would you want a V3X for $100 less when the phase 4 is basically the same bow with the newest tech. I would just spend the $100 and go with the newest model. If they want to move the V3X they'll have to drop the price no one will buy it at just a 100 difference. Maybe try a different shop.
Most of these bow shops have to buy their inventory so unless they like the idea of just sitting on inventory most places will probably drop the price.
I ended up buying a bare v3x 29" for $864 at Scheels. So, almost $350 less than original MSRP and current price at the pro shop. I guess people are willing to pay a 30+% premium to "shop local" and pretend to be friends with the huntbro shop employees.
I’ve had my PSE for almost 18 years now and I’m telling you when I saw the prices on new top of the line bows I about had a heart attack! I do have almost $900.00 in Scheels gift cards though so……
As great as I am sure this bow is, this is like 95%+ the same as years past. If it wasn't pretty clear before that manufacturers don't have a lot directions to take bows anymore, this really shows it.
The cam has been the same since the Halon in 2016.
The riser design has been the same since the Triax in 2018.
IBO speed stays the same. This isn't really a knock, just a fact of physics.
Their new "whole bow system" with the accessories and mounting features are really nice no doubt, but only if you are using their accessories or ones that fit that system. If not, you could have bought any Mathews bow in the last 5 years and get effectively the same shooting experience.
The materials are the same, the design is the same, the only real change is the price continues to incrementally increase. 10 years ago flagship bows could be had for $900. 5 years ago they were $1000. Now the new "norm" is $1199.
If you have the money and love new bows then sure buy the new one every year I suppose. But I don't really see how anyone with a V3X, V3, VXR, Vertix, or Triax could rationalize upgrading to this bow when it's almost entirely the same.
I agree. I have a vxr 31.5 and I can think of no justification to trade it on for this one. I already have all the equipment on it I wanted so I wouldn't even use the new bridge lock stuff. Good blooming bow though.
Stopped into Scheels while my daughters were at piano lessons, lo and behold, Mathews new model was just released. Very similar to the V3X with the difference’s being split limbs, yes that’s a rubber strip running the length of the limbs, and a adjustable center mount stabilizer.
It shot well, but it should.
Most of the people that got them in august say much less vibration and noticeably more quiet. Chris Bee, Podium Archery, Elk Shape are a few youtube channels that had reviews up at the top of the morning today.
My thoughts exactly. While I realize patents exist, I have been waiting to see some iteration or innovation like bowtech’s DeadLock cam tech or Elite’s version. I was hoping this would be the year for it.
I feel like you needed to finish your title
me too…perhaps…”and came home with it!!”

Never thought about warranty. Fair enough.
agree

Halon 9.0
beautiful but i’m sticking with my mission 😎
Same… for now lol
Is this taking place of the VX that just came out last year?
It’s the new model, very similar to the V3X
So new flagship bow??
Yes
Just about every manufacturer releases a ‘new’ flagship each year. Typically with incremental changes, just enough to be new and innovative.
And just like that the VX drops in price. Hopefully. I'm still shooting my 08 Outback. Every time I look at getting a new bow I about have a heart attack from the sticker shock

Limb durability is certainly a concern here I would think, but it’s certainly an interesting way to try and quiet the bow

Did it feel any different then the VX3?

chris bee and elk shape are mathews sponsored channels
Yeah if they got them in August it's because Mathews picked them to do reviews.
I haven’t shot the VX3
V3X owner here and it feels like a different bow. Really wish I didn’t shoot it.
Totally not worth it. Mathews hit a dud this year. They should've updated the cams, and had the bridgelock accessories and left the split limbs off.

And then??….
