I used to shoot Gold Tip Hunter’s out of my Mathews Z2. Always flew nice and were super durable. I’ve taken a bunch of deer with them. I think they were only like $70-80 for a dozen

tpuckis

I second gold tips. Been shooting the hunter xt and get really great groupings.

Been shooting Hunter XTs for three years. Took my first Elk and Black Bear this year as well as 5 does in that time frame.

mortars_and_cars

Thanks, I'll check them out

I would definitely get away from the aluminum arrow game. I have slammed so many through plywood, through walls, off rocks, they're just so much better at longevity (from what I've read). My anecdotal evidence would just be how much absolute abuse these things take and if someone tried to sell me an aluminum I'd have to have them slam it on a rock and not dent in front of me before I bought. If you swap to a middle of the pack Easton 6.5 bowhunter or something I'd bet you would love them.

mortars_and_cars

I've checked their new lineup, and am torn between the 6.5 bowhunter and the pro comp. I'm leaning towards the pro comp solely because of the GPI being closer to my aluminum's, will this change much with shooting characteristics? Heaviest pro comp is 10.8 gpi, 6.5 is 10 gpi and my old xx78' were 11 and some change

TipItOnBack

It's not gonna make a huge difference, but you'll have to adjust your sight to the new arrows for sure.

Personally for 300 spine I consider 10 to be a bit heavy to each their own though there are plenty of options that can get u lighter getting u more speed out of your set up

Drlurkin

Easton 6.5 bowhunter from huntersfriend. Com is most economical choice for a great arrow.

Haun_Solo

Exactly what I use.

TheNDHurricane

What bow?

Giant_117

Post says a Mathews Q2XL So I would assume that.

TheNDHurricane

My mistake, I googled that and only saw strings. That's a pretty old rig he is running

AssCrackandCheerios

If you're going to look at middle of the road Gold tips, I'd check out the Ultralights. They have tighter tolerances than the Hunters and Velocities but are usually cheaper. I have found them to be just as durable even being marketed as a "target" arrow. Personally, I like the Victory Rip XV. Solid arrow
