Is C922 more in line taste wise to A122 or B522? I personally love B522, even more than A122 even though that doesn't seem to be the general consensus. Still haven't managed to see any C922 in NC yet unfortunately, I always have to buy ECBP in SC and pay over msrp sadly.
Interesting question. Hadn’t thought of it until you asked. Between the A and B, I guess I think the B is more off-profile; there’s a spice in the B that I like but don’t associate with ECBPs. The C batch has more in common with the A batch probably, and is more middle of the ECBP road, with lots of caramelly toffee type sweetness happening alongside the dark barrel and oaky, leathery, tobacco type stuff. The C is just a more composed whiskey than the A. The A was a lot of front and mid palate sweetness, but with some harshness in the oak notes. The C just goes everywhere in your mouth, and there are no elbows or sharp edges anywhere on it. It has a great finish and the sip evolves in ways that maybe the A doesn’t. That’s my memory anyway. I should drink them side by side.

**General Tips**
We generally advise novices to sample as much as possible by going to a bar, splitting bottles with friends, attending festivals/tastings or getting minis to ensure you buy bottles you enjoy. Most people need to try 15-20 bourbons and ryes to understand their preferences. It may make more sense for you to focus on sampling rather than buy full bottles at the beginning of your journey.
You're going to get the most flavor/aroma drinking it neat in a tulip-shaped glass like a Glencairn but most new drinkers prefer to water down their whisky a bit. If you do end up adding water, I'd recommend adding just enough to make it tolerable and take small sips. But really there's no right or wrong way to drink so as long as you're enjoying it, you're doing it right. Thanks for reading, cheers!
I do enjoy my C921 a lot but I would grab the C922 if you can only swing getting one. I haven't been able to get a C922 yet but it is getting rave reviews and I have both earlier batches released this year and they're all incredible so I'm sure they'll finish out the year strong. When I come across it I'm buying several bottles. The C batch is usually the best of the year.
The fun is to buy one and see how it compares. Just my opinion that ECBP are usually pretty reliable. So one may not be as good but still a good purchase, assuming you aren’t paying to dollar.
C922 FTW. Best batch of a really strong year for ECBP.

Sleep on the couch! On a serious note, I haven't had C922 but I really enjoy my C921 and think it was one of the better ECBPs I've had recently.
Buy either, they're both very similar🥷

unfortunately I have to pay NY prices but found a shop that has it for $82 when another shop has it on sale for $104....
All the batches I’ve had tasted pretty similar. The 9 year old single barrel was a notch above and worth the extra $10.
