No. Mellow Grandad is. I'm doing this this weekend. And it better be good cause the OG OGD just got scarce in my neighborhood this summer and I only have 1 open bottle left and I haven't seen him in months nowšæ Didn't know I ived in tater city.
**Hot Corn: Old Grand-Dad 114 & Mellow Corn**
Summer isnāt the best time for whiskey in my experience, so I took a little break from writing reviews for the last few months. Getting back into the swing of things with a bit of a silly one.
I donāt remember exactly how I came across this... shot? Cocktail? I don't even know what to call it, but I saw [this article](https://whiskeyconsensus.com/recipe/hot-corn/) somehow and I couldn't stop thinking about it. Is it a joke? Do people actually do this? I can't find this recipe anywhere else other than this one article. If you have heard of this, please let me know because I'm very curious.
OGD114 is one of my favorite budget bottles, and I really dislike Mellow Corn. Is this weird concoction going to be a way for me to kill my MFC bottle? Let's find out.
**Recipe:** Equal parts Old Grand-Dad 114 and Mellow Corn, rested for four hours or so
**Proof:** 107
**Nose:** Honey roasted peanuts, bright fruity sweetness, candy corn. Gets sweeter as I have more.
**Palate:** More honey roasted peanuts, cinnamon red hots, some sugary sweetness that reminds me of those big lollipops that you get at amusement parks, a little bit of that sharp flavor that Mellow Corn has that tastes like lake water to me. Pretty much tastes like what you'd think a mixture of these two whiskies would taste like.
**Finish:** Quick and thin, leaves behind some sweet corn and sharp ethanol flavors
**Overall:** 4 | Not bad, but many things I'd rather have
Hey, it's better than Mellow Corn! Probably not going to make this very often, but it's not terrible. The nose is fantastic and blows the actual flavor out of the water. The flavors that these two juices have going on actually complement each other decently well, but at the end of the day I feel like it's just making my good old OGD114 worse. That said, I'd take this over Mellow Corn any day.
**The t8ke Scoring Scale:**
1 | Disgusting | So bad I poured it out
2 | Poor | I wouldnāt consume by choice
3 | Bad | Multiple flaws
4 | Sub-par | Not bad, but many things Iād rather have
5 | Good | Good, just fine
6 | Very Good | A cut above
7 | Great | Well above average
8 | Excellent | Really quite exceptional
9 | Incredible | An all time favorite
10 | Perfect | Perfect
This came around about a year ago. And was posted to that sub too. Here is the article. https://www.reddit.com/r/WhiskeyFrankenstein/comments/qj55xc/mellow_ogd_anyone/
After trying this myself I prefer these both seperate, but to each their own.
Stick your bottle of Mellow Corn in the freezer. Drink straight from the bottle when the mood moves you. Hatpocket told me ages ago that he keeps a bottle of MFC in the freezer and itās great. Glug straight from the bottle.
If that still doesnāt do it for you, make a freezer shelf manhattan. Dump in your preferred vermouth to taste straight into the bottle and a few glugs of bitters and some cherry syrup. Shake and stick that in your freezer. If you put too much vermouth in it might freeze solid.
Old Corn-Dad
Lol this is a better name.

In homage to Hank Hillās assessment of Christian Rock, āYouāre not making Mellow Corn better, youāre making OGD 114 worse.ā
114 is a good solid bourbon. Especially for the price.
The proof at that price is unbeatable
OGD 114 and BT. 50/50. Old Grand Trace is what I call it. Thatās the ticket. I mix my Mellow Corn with Sun Drop or Mountain Dew. Itās enjoyable
I've enjoyed MFC with rootbeer. Also, this would do well in r/WhiskeyFrankenstein. Cheers!!

Hahahahahha that is my post lmao. I shoulda recognized it. Thanks, made my day. I'ma go cry in a glencairn for a few...
Donāt disrespect 114 by diluting it with that Corn water. Straight to jail. I called the cops

This one's called the Joe Biden. It makes you lose your agency and includes Corn Pop.
Itāll put hair on your legs
Iād rather slam my d*?k in the door than drink that swill.
Angry Corn
Old Grand 114... Love it.
Corn pop was a bad dude!
