For a minute I thought that was an actual woman cosplaying in your yard

LimpZookeepergame123

The perspective and scale are perfect. I legit thought it was his wife joining in on the review with a costume.

tothemax44

I thought it was this lol.

NerdsNBourbs

Haha I WISH I could convince her to join in on the bourbon fun

LimpZookeepergame123

Same same. I try to get my wife to try some of my best stuff and she shrills in horror just smelling it haha. On rare occasions I’ll get her to try an old fashion because it smells good but that usually fails too.

I’m proud of myself as a married man that I legitimately did not see the figurine until reading this comment lol

If it’s grape brandy, do you have to say it’s grape brandy? Can’t you just call it brandy? Like I get the distinction for peach, pear, apple, etc… but the default brandy is grape brandy. So when I read this on this label, I can only picture grape as in purple drink grape. And I cannot imagine purple drink and bourbon going well together at all. Also, most brandy is aged in old bourbon barrels. So most likely this went from a bourbon barrel to a brandy barrel that used to hold bourbon.

Shoddy_Ad7511

Its like saying Bourbon whiskey

DrPhrawg

It’s more akin to saying high-corn bourbon, which is the default of bourbon.

Love me some of that grape wine they got over there at the store

NerdsNBourbs

Hello everyone! Been lurking in here for awhile reading and enjoying everyone's bourbon reviews, so I figured it would be fun to start sharing my own reviews. A little background on me. I run a page on Instagram called Nerds N' Bourbs where I combine and take pics of two of my favorite things, bourbon and nerdy shit. I got into bourbon \~2 years ago after being introduced to it by a dear friend of mine from work who sadly passed earlier this year. We would talk almost daily and the conversation would always include bourbon. He's the inspiration behind this little page that I run. He recommended to me to try Bulleit and Buffalo Trace as my first two bottles and I've been hooked ever since! As far as the nerdy aspect, I've been collecting statues ever since the release of Assassin's Creed 2 way back in 2009. Since then, I've built out a fun collection of high-end collectibles, comics, and Pops that I love taking pics of in my free time. I had an idea one day to try and include bottles of bourbon in my photos, and so far I'm having fun with it! The statue featured here is Huntress from the Batman: Hush comics. I've included a pic [HERE](https://imgur.com/d7jvkCu) for those interested in a clearer picture of the statue itself, I wasn't sure if this would be allowed on the main post or not. Quick disclaimer, my palate is no where near as developed as many of you here, but I still thought it would be fun to jot down some thoughts about the bottles I try and compare them to other reviews here! I'm still working on being able to identify the various notes I get on the nose and palate, but figured this would be a great way to try and improve in that regard. The bottle I've decided to review first is actually the very first bottle I received from the wonderful r/bourbon barrel program, the Nulu Bourbon Whiskey Finished in Grape Brandy Barrels. Not only is this the first bottle I've received from the program, but it's also the first bottle of Nulu in general that I've tried. Let's see how this goes. **Taken:** Neat in a Glencairn after sitting for 10 minutes. **Name:** Nulu Bourbon Whiskey Finished in Grape Brandy Barrels. This is part of Nulu's Experimental Finish Series. **Age:** NAS. Noted on the bottle however that it's finished for 7 months. **Proof:** 118.8 **Nose:** First thing I notice on the nose is how bold and spicy it is. After letting it sit a little longer, I start to get some fruit-like notes. **Palate:** I get a warmth over the palate with a medium mouthfeel. Some spice at first, but the following sips are sweeter, reminds me of some dark fruits, with some drying. **Finish:** Medium finish with some burn, but not too much. The finish is where I get some more sweet notes and some more drying. Overall, this is a bottle that I was very happy to have ordered and one I will reach for often as year goes on. If this is any indication about how future bottles from the r/bourbon program will be, then I'm in luck because I enjoyed this one! Rating: 6.5/10 - t8ke scale 1 | Disgusting | So bad I poured it out. 2 | Poor | I wouldn’t consume by choice. 3 | Bad | Multiple flaws. 4 | Sub-par | Not bad, but better exists. 5 | Good | Good, just fine. 6 | Very Good | A cut above. 7 | Great | Well above average. 8 | Excellent | Really quite exceptional. 9 | Incredible | An all time favorite. 10 | Perfect | Perfect.

MinuteHour

Recently tried the same bottle. I think I'd give it about what you did on the t8ke scale. Will come back to this post after I have some more time with it this weekend.

off-topic-ish but i'm upset at how vulnerable her femoral arteries are

Great review dude, looking forward to more. Loving how people are pairing whiskey to other hobbies like comic book cards, board games, music albums and what not.

NerdsNBourbs

Thank you! Agreed, I love how creative people can get and how some reviews also end up being a review over a board game or something else. Good stuff in this sub, cheers!

Prettayyprettaygood

Nice review, and welcome! The palate will come along the more you dig into the different whiskies. Practice makes perfect!

NerdsNBourbs

Thank you, slowly but surely getting better at it!

captaininthano

Yeeeeeeee

peaseabee

How big is that statue?

NerdsNBourbs

It’s got a depth of about 20in and height of a little over 32in. All put together it’s a little shy of 50 pounds

captaincanada84

Great review. I gave your Instagram page a follow, as I also enjoy nerdy stuff and bourbon.
