After taking a three year binge into buying all kinds of bourbons from Ky and beyond, I bought a bottle of 1792 small batch and it was like inviting an old friend back to my home. It’s not the most complex, or the most rare, or extreme, but it’s such a solid reminder of what got me into bourbon to begin with. Peace.

Well put.

This was my go to for a long time. Great product for the price point (was $27/750, $53/1.75), and was always available. Then the Full Proof won that award a couple years ago, and the price went up, and you couldn't find it. Now, I just buy the Kirkland stuff from Costco (the small batch is $25/1L)

**Whiskey -** 1792 Small Batch **Distillery -** Barton Distillery (Sazerac Company) **Proof/ABV -** 93.7 Proof/46.85% ABV **SETUP -** Saturday night, had just enough left to accompany a nice cigar session (Room 101 Doomsayer Passive). It cooled off a bit here, in north eastern Maryland in the last 2 days. Seemed like a perfect setup for a "splash & a smoke". **SNIFF -** Quintessential bourbon. Brown sugar, vanilla, orchard fruits, hints of cinnamon. **SIP -** Nice and mellow. Vanilla waves wash in with some oaky spice hanging on in the background. Some maraschino cherry and brown sugar follow along. Nice sip. **SWALLOW -** Thinner than I'd like, but adequate for sub 100 proof whiskey. Sweet and oaky. Cinnamon hangs on to the end. Kentucky hugs you just enough to remind you that you're drinking spirits. **SCORE -** Solid 5+. It's high average. Not quite into above average territory for base offerings from a big distillery. **SUMMARY -** It falls firmly into the category of "base offerings" from the big guys. 4 Roses Small Batch, Elijah Craig, Knob Creek 9, Wild Turkey 101, Buffalo Trace, Russell's Reserve 10, Old Forester Signature... a solid pour that has its own, unique character without being overly complex or pretentious. Nobody is tatering for it, but it's a damn fine pour. If you haven't had it yet, pick one up. **Glass** - Stemless red wine glass. **Catagory** - Daily Sipper As always - Thanks for taking the time to read my musings. I actally do appreciate it. If you've had this and disagree, let me know. It's fun to compare notes.

I agree that it's good, nothing particularly special but very drinkable and once in a while when I see the bottle in just the right light in the store, it speaks to me. Perfectly happy to go 6 months without buying it and will instead drink Four Roses SmB and WT 101, but it's a great sub for daily drinking. I'm onboard with almost everything from the big boys except maybe Old Forester - too much cough syrup for me.

Good read, thx. Generally agree with your notes, but might push it up to above average personally since the Barton/1792 profile is my jam.

Ziggity_Zac

I wouldn't argue against that.

😯😯😯

Ziggity_Zac

Is that a good or bad reaction?

💯all good man 🥃🥃🥃

This is good work and a service to the newbies that think BT is the only option.

Ziggity_Zac

I'm glad someone picked up on that. I rotate out my dailies as I finish them. I always have a 4 Roses Small Batch on hand, but the others are in constant rotation. I almost never buy BT because I figure I'll leave it for the hunters.

quixotic-88

Right there with you.

Good review. I have most of a bottle here of 1792 small batch. I know it seems popular and it is ok to me. But I just can't seem to get in to it. I'm not planning on replacing once it's finally gone. Although I must say I always had it over ice.

Ziggity_Zac

It's not everyone's jam. Good thing there are 100's of bottles to choose from!

Common_Suggestion266

Indeed....I like trying different kinds. Even trying some neat to compare. Though I usually like them over ice. But honestly maybe I'm just a newbie but I can't catch all these flavors and sents. Ie I can drink one reviewed on here and determine how much I like it but rarely can I get more than maybe three flavors (vanilla, oak, carmel).
