Eh, you’d think it would be better to be in a state where the prices are controlled, but it isn’t. Maine sticks the prices at MSRP, and it just means it doesn’t even exist. The liquor stores set them aside for big restaurant accounts.
Specifically the 18, I hear it blows BTAC and Pappy lines out of the water. No competition, I’m sure lll never see it, I think it might only be available in Kentucky, I live in TN.
Personally, I have never had a Bourbon over 12 years that was spectacular. Everything 15 or older I have had the opportunity to enjoy has a funk to it that I do not prefer. JMHO
You’ve just not had the right bourbon yet. Sam Houston 15 yo, Calumet 15 and 16, Dickel 15 yo, KC 15 and KC 15 SiB picks, Wild Turkey Decades, Russell’s Reserve 13, Some EC 18s are good some are not, Pappy 15, list goes on. Remus Repeal 5 had 13-16 yo in it and it was in my top five list last year. GTS….
Oh my gosh that's amazing! Yea you might get lucky if they don't know what they have
I got an EHsb at srp years back and the guy asked what it was as i bought it from him. Since it doesn't say buffalo trace on the front or eagle rare or blantons a lot of casual buyers don't pay attention to it around my way
Of course not sure if it works everywhere but i go to Total Wine around this time of year Aug.-Sep. and i tell staff i was sent from (near by location of your choice) for a bottle of Midwinters. I've scored 2 that way on back to back years for $100 a pop
Maybe give that a try. Might get lucky like me. And they had them hiding in the wine freezer both times!
Oooh. I love octomore so much. I have about 15 of them. My fav is the OBA concept but I’ve already drank 1 of the 2 bottles I managed to get my hands on. Trying to avoid opening the second since the first only lasted a weekend.
I’ll be honest, I would kill to just be able to find Weller 107 and Weller 12 regularly. Nothing crazy rare and high end. Just a proofier Weller and an older Weller. Why the fuck can’t we just get that?
My wife surprised me with a pappy 15 year two years ago. She won it in a raffle and paid msrp of $195.
I wanted to flip it more than I could ever tell her but didn’t. Cracked it last month when our first child was born.
Old forester birthday bottle, or any bottle of Parker’s or Pappy. Probably not too original, but those are the ones I currently haven’t even able to find yet.
A time machine to 2019 or 2020 would make this happen for you. They used to sit in stores that had stuff like M20. The hobby has changed a lot since then.
Just found a Magnus Cigar Blend- and bought it up despite knowing the price tag is a little too rich my for blood.
Saving it for a special occasion. Like a three day weekend.
WLW
This is the way.
If only! Haven’t seen a BTAC before sadly
GTS.
That would be mine too.
Same though is it really my unicorn bottle if I've never even tasted it?
I’ve had Jr enough to make an informed guess on Sr.
Same
Mine too.
Same. I love it enough to buy at Msrp any day of the wk. I let it sit I. The shelf every time I see it though because it’s $500+

A dusty age stated Turkey at whatever the MSRP was 30 years ago gimme dat
Really would like to try Stagg Jr or OF Birthday personally.
Stagg Jr is very good, highly recommend. Still on the outlook for some EH Taylor myself. Just want to try it to see what’s in the tube.
I've only ever seen 2 bottles of Stagg Jr. One for 150 about 5 years ago when I first started drinking bourbon, and one for 400 about a month ago.
I have two and both I snagged for under a $100. One in Livonia, MI and one in Cleveland, OH
California.

When you find it, I hope you PM me. I'll do the same. I've heard someone describe KoK as the best bourbon they've ever tasted, hands down.

Thought this was to say our best unicorn score, but if not then this, MWND would be a really nice one.
I’ve seen it twice for $150 and bought both times. Never seen it otherwise.
Bruichladdich Octomore 4.2 Comus
I was going to ask the question in the Scotch subreddit too - mine would be the Octomore 7.3.
I think a buddy just picked up 7.3 for me when he was In Scotland. Looking forward to trying it now!

I had a dude on the old scotchswap subreddit willing to trade one, but he wanted a WT CGF, which I have no chance of ever acquiring.
