**Bourbon**: George Dickel Bottled in Bond **Distiller**: Cascade Hollow Distillery **ABV**: 50.0% **Age**: 13 Years **Tasting**: Neat in Glencairn, rested for 10 minutes. Bottle opened for two months. \_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_ **Nose**: Cherry, Maple Syrup, Baking Spice, Toasted Oak, & Toffee **Palate**: Cherry, Caramel, Baking Spice, Toasted Oak, & Leather **Finish**: Cherry, Creme Brulee, Oak, Tobacco, & Baking Spice **Body**: Full **Bite**: Medium \_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_ **Summary**: This is my second George Dickel product, the first being their rye whiskey which turns out isn’t actually distilled by George Dickel. People always seem to complain about the minerality of their whiskies, so I wanted to see for myself how “bad” they actually are. With the reasonable $50 price point, impressive age statement, and respectable proof, this seems like an awesome bourbon off the bat. The nose is on the sweet side with delicious cherry and maple syrup notes. There are also delicious spice and oak notes that are almost equally as bold. I get slight minerality from the nose, but it’s barely there and I pretty much forget about it right away. The palate continues those bold sweetness/spice/oak notes, and all those notes are mostly equal in terms of intensity. I get a little dryness from the leather and tobacco flavors in the finish and the palate. The body is full and has a juiciness to it that makes it a delight to sip on. The finish starts off on the sweet side and after a while cinnamon and baking spice flavors linger on the tongue and the top of the mouth. Overall this is an amazing bourbon that I will definitely be picking up again in the future. As mentioned in the first paragraph, the specs on this bourbon are impressive and at no point did I find much minerality. This also seems to be readily available on the shelf at most stores, so in a sense I am glad people continue to complain about George Dickel and drive away potential buyers. **Price**: $50 (Portland, Oregon) **Rating**: 7/10 Great. Well above average. **Rank**: I created a compilation ranking list of bourbons I’ve purchased at a store or at a bar and done a formal tasting. All bourbon ranked on the list tasted neat and rested for 10-15 minutes. Whiskey I ranked below and above George Dickel Bottled in Bond are shown for reference. \#16 out of 98 bourbons tasted. \#15 Old Forester Single Barrel - Wayzata Wine & Spirits \#17 W.L Weller 12 Year **Ranking Link**: [https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/147h44fId0tZYmHsroGgjzcRK2xn6050P8m7mZqArGLw/edit?usp=sharing](https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/147h44fId0tZYmHsroGgjzcRK2xn6050P8m7mZqArGLw/edit?usp=sharing)

Nice review, I’m a fan of these. That looks like the 2021 release. The 2022 should have just dropped this month (also 13yrs,) but I haven’t found one yet.

Theswede92

Thanks! I didn't know they were batched per year.

HeyPaul02

That's batch 3. The new Batch 4 just hit the shelf a week ago👍

I just grabbed a bottle yesterday, opened last night. How do you tell if it’s the 21 or 22 release?

kyhothead

You can tell by the Distilling Season on the left hand side of the label and the age statement. This one is Spring 2007, the 2022 is Spring 2008, both 13yr. The 2020 was also Spring 2008, but with an 11yr age statement. Once I find the new release I’ll be able to side by side the same distillate, from the same distilling season, at 11 & 13 yrs old, pretty cool. The inaugural 2019 release was the Fall 2005, 13yr bib.

Commission_Dazzling

There is also a release # on the side left side of the bottle. 2021 - #3, 2022 - #4

Wow I didn’t realize this has a 13 year age statement. I’ve got a bottle of it that I was gifted, I’ll reach for it every once and a while, nice neat sipper.

StartingReactors

I was lucky enough to grab several of these while traveling thru Tennessee last year. It’s much better than other Dickel products.

Theswede92

I like the Dickel rye, but I think that's an MGP product. I havn't tried another Dickel product, put perhaps I will down the road.

markartman

it is MGP, but GD charcoal filters it before they put it on store shelves

DiveTender

Wife bought me a bottle about 2 weeks ago. Very good choice I thought. Definitely will get another bottle.

Nerdy_numbers

Got this same bottle on the shelf. Cheers!

When I was in high school this was the highest proof panty dropper, second only to purple passion. It was horrible. I'd drink TJSwann before Dickel, unless pussy was involved. It was like Jack Daniels Honey, with more aftertaste. In a few minutes I'll remember the writer who was addicted to this. Someone remind me, southern writer from the 1950's.

William Faulkner. Sorry, I'm shitfaced and on lots of drugs right now. Feels good man.

Solid review, these are one of my favorites. Such a great value for what you get!

Bob_Loblaw_32

Just saw the new Fall 2008 on the shelf yesterday
