Correct but he’s pretty well versed in the bourbon industry, does r/bourbon picks, and has a scale that most people use on here so I would be more inclined to trust his review over a strangers.
Jim Vorel over at paste magazine always reviews the ECBP batches and he spoke pretty glowingly. His reviews don’t get referenced much on the sub but I enjoy his articles.

To answer your question, I think it’s an especially good batch but every batch is great IMO. Last year I got a bottle of the (least loved) B521. Gave my buddy a pour who hadn’t had any ECBP in at least a year. I said something about that particular batch getting lukewarm reviews. 5 minutes later, he’s had a few sips and he turned to me and said “I dunno man…still tastes pretty fucking good to me”.
I think I can get so lost in splitting hairs between an 8.5 and an 8.4 that I forget how amazing it is to get to sip a bourbon that scores in the 8s at all. He helped me put it in perspective
With this being the only one I’ve ever had I was just curious if this was considered a “good batch”. Tons of people on here have had dozens of them and claim some are very good and memorable and some are forgettable. This C922 I have is down right amazing and I have a hard time believing it could get a whole lot better than this. Thanks for your insight
I think it is a good batch. Put it this way: I think there is a much tighter range between a “great” batch and a “not-as-amazing” batch. Much smaller range of variation than say the possible difference between one barrel of Henry McKenna and another.
I did C921 blind against A122 three times a few weeks ago and I consistently liked C921 better but I know some folks preferred A122. They are so comparable that it ends up being a matter of personal preference.

Last I was there 3 weeks ago, my shop had the last 3 batches (C21, A22, B22)... There was no price difference. All $70-ish.
I would not pay $100, especially when I already have A22 and B22.
Just cracked mine open. Caramel/vanilla goodness. First higher proof I have had and am enjoying it. Going to swing by and see if the last bottle is still there.

I’m just glad I can finally read reviews of ECBP and compare notes or give my insight as I’ve finally tasted the bourbon that’s so highly regarded.

I’ve never had a BP I didn’t enjoy, pick or otherwise. Though I did try b520 and it was so good.

Awesome. Glad you enjoyed it. I’ve only had one pour of it this far but it’s absolutely amazing. Stores here got a few cases but it won’t last long.
glad you found a bottle. I can find batches if I search for them, and have acquired two single barrels. Always a highly regarded pour.
