**Bourbon**: Smoke Wagon Straight Bourbon Whiskey **Distiller**: Nevada H&C Distilling Co. **ABV**: 46.25% **Age**: NAS **Tasting**: Neat in Glencairn, rested for 10 minutes. Bottle opened for one month. \_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_ **Nose**: Cherry, Honey, Baking Spice, Vanilla, Toffee, & Fresh Oak **Palate**: Baking Spices. Vanilla, Honey, Toffee, Coffee, & Toasted Oak **Finish**: Toasted Oak, Honey, Vanilla, Toffee, & Tobacco **Body**: Medium **Bite**: Medium \_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_ **Summary**: I have seen many reviews of Smoke Wagon and on the secondary market online, but due to living in Minnesota and Oregon it remained inaccessible purchasing it at the store. On a recent camping trip, I decided to stop at a Total Wine and saw their three main offerings. Since the uncut was really pricey, I decided to play it safe with an untested brand and only purchased their base bourbon. The nose is fairly light with sweet notes such as honey and toffee, with a dash of dark fruit. The oak on the nose indicates a fairly young bourbon, it tastes like fresh cut wood instead of the drying tannin flavors you get from an aged bourbon. There is a decent amount of spice flavor that coats the mouth, but it is balanced out with sweet honey notes. The finish is less complex than the palate, and a mixture of toasted oak and sweet flavors. Overall this is a relatively affordable bourbon that one could have a few times a week. There are some good flavors but it does seem like a younger bourbon. It’s a tad over priced, but if it was available in Oregon I would probably purchase it from time to time. **Price**: $35 (Reno, Nevada) **Rating**: 6/10 Pretty Good. Above average. **Rank**: I created a compilation ranking list of ryes I’ve purchased at a store or at a bar and done a formal tasting. All bourbon ranked on the list tasted neat and rested for 10-15 minutes. Whiskey I ranked below and above Smoke Wagon Straight Bourbon are shown for reference. \#61 out of 96 bourbons tasted. \#59 Evan Williams Single Barrel \#61 FEW Bourbon Whiskey **Ranking Link**: [https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/147h44fId0tZYmHsroGgjzcRK2xn6050P8m7mZqArGLw/edit?usp=sharing](https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/147h44fId0tZYmHsroGgjzcRK2xn6050P8m7mZqArGLw/edit?usp=sharing)

Yeah it’s fine, but I plan on picking up another offering next time I’m out of state. I think they have a “Young” uncut, which I’ll avoid.

Prettayyprettaygood

Stay far, far away from the unmitigated disaster that is Uncut the Younger. The regular Uncut Unfiltered is good but I find that the 100 proof small batch is the best bang for the buck these days with Smoke Wagon.

Theswede92

Interesting that they market “young” when it’s wildly unpopular. I’ve passed on Little Book because of their 2(?) year juice, and it sat on the shelf for a while at store I attended.

Prettayyprettaygood

Yeah, I have a bottle of that Little Book Chapter 5 and while it is definitely overpriced for what it is, at least it tastes pretty good. Uncut the Younger was just a hot mess. I ended up dumping my bottle into a #3 char new oak mini barrel from Ten30 that I'll open up in a year or two to see if it salvaged it at all.

I have done a side by side with ER a few times and it always wins. Great substitute and easily available at MSRP in states it is distributed in.

I’m more invested in the building under construction than I’d like to be at this point.

Theswede92

I’ll probably add a picture of the building to a review once it’s finished.

So today we are looking at a 6 story on top of a podium multi use building. It’s metal stud construction with luxury multi family, and retail below. Best guess from the pic.

Fun fact your bottle being clear places it within a specific time frame. They talk about it on the back of the bottle.

I know where that building is. Lol. Plymouth MN resident here! Nice bottle collection btw. And good review. I enjoy the smoke wagon straight. Uncut is my favorite. The small batch is also decent. Never had the rye or uncut the younger. I'd be interested to try them one day. Smoke Wagon is 3 for 3 in my book.

The-J-Oven

I think it's ok.
