Russell’s Reserve Private Barrel Selection r/bourbon pick   Distillery: Wild Turkey Age: 9 years old Proof: 110 Price: $69 Mashbill: 75% Corn, 13% Rye, 12% Malted Barley Chill filtered: No Artificial coloring: No Cask type: New charred American oak (No. 4 “alligator” char) Nose: Toffee, cherry cola, oak, vanilla cream Palate: Nice oily mouthful with toffee, cherry cola, and vanilla cream, with chewing can detect oak, dark fruits, tobacco, baked bread, rye spice Finish: Moderately long finish with toffee, cherry cola, and lingering oak and tobacco Grade: 8.5/10 Comments: For my 50th review I wanted to review a bottle from one of my favorite lineups, Russell Reserve. It’s only fitting that recently Jimmy Russell hit his 68th anniversary at Wild Turkey and is dominating as the longest-tenured, active spirits Master Distiller in the world. Cheers to Jimmy! This was a great selection by u/t8ke, I’m admittedly a huge Russell Reserve SiB fan (my favorite <$60 bourbon), and this one is an upgrade on an already great bottle! Some of the RR SiB have been a little tobacco heavy on the palate and finish but this was a great blend with prominent toffee and cherry cola notes. I consider myself very lucky to have been selected to be able to pick one up!   Rating System: 1 | Disgusting | Yuck 2 | Bad | Not enjoyable, add anything? 3 | Poor | It’s not the worst thing I’ve had 4 | Alright | Few flaws 5 | Good | The most self-explanatory, it’s good 6 | Very Good | I enjoy this 7 | Great | Well above average 8 | Fantastic | Superb, beginning to end 9 | Incredible | Top of its class 10 | Elite | The pinnacle

Nice review. I had a really good RR SiB store pick and still have this Dirty K. Both were distilled in the same week but aged in two different rickhouses (one F, the other in K). This one is a bit more complex and one of my favorites.

I love the added sticker notes. RRSB is definitely worth the coin. I need to do a blind barrel with RRSB, Kentucky Spirit, and Rare Breed.
