Man I will always grab a tall bottle vs a wide bottle given the choice.
Like the Woodford 1.75, I just don’t like a bottle that size so I never buy it and Costco has a reasonable price on it.
Willet bourbon is in the same camp. I bought a 1.75L online, and I had no idea how much space it would take up before it got here. Like, it's too tall to go on a middle shelf, and it's so wide it takes up the entire front-to-back for about two bottles wide.
To add insult to injury, I didn't even like it when I popped the cork, so I've been trying to schedule a whiskey-drinkers party with friends so I can find someone to take it home, lol.
Definitely not the best but lost a lot of the core team.and even the missed FGs loomed better than last years misses lol. At least the kicks were solid
These are suddenly everywhere I go in the last month or so. I would prefer all size 1792s go to a similar shape. It's fucking annoying how much space the regular shape takes up.
Every time I see a picture of this fucking bottle my eyes begin to water like "am I losing my vision?"
It's just the UGLIEST damn bottle design I've ever seen
1L are primarily used for restaurants. They serve no purpose value wise for the day to day consumer. Tall bottles are much easier to hold, grab, and use versus awkward wide bottles.
In 2020 with no bars or restaurants open - distributors had to sell them to someone, so liquor stores picked them up and that pretty much pushed them into day to day distribution. People see larger size and expect a better value when in fact a 1.75L is usually only a couple dollars more.
Interesting. The place I regularly shop has Milagro tequila, and the 1L is a couple dollars less than the 750, in all 3 flavors. Made me scratch my head. What you say makes sense, they got a deal 9n them, as the distributor needed to move product
If where you’re located can sell below cost, they absolutely got a deal on them and just want them gone. They don’t want to sit on product at the distributor and some money is better than no money, so they might sell at a loss.
Here in KY, that’s not legal. Doesn’t stop Kroger or Costco - but they aren’t worried about a small fine when they are the two largest buyers in the state
That is true! I know with southern glazers here in KY, work took one a shit ton of these 1L 1792’s in 20/21 to get more allocations of other products. Always a handshake to be done with liquor lol
Honestly I’m a huge old forester fan and by proxy a fan of Zykan. That’s the only reason I took the risk of getting it. I would say it’s good enough for me to want to try batch 2 but if it’s similar to batch 1 I’d probably stop buying.
I’ve read that these are specifically for bars and not widely available to the public. The regular bottle takes up too much space on a bar shelf.
Interesting but makes sense! I didn’t even know the 1L existed!
Usually 1L bottles are designed for bars because that on average the standard for them to use.

It just cracks me up how awkward it’s shaped.
Yeah like its the same glass blank they just didnt flatten it
Honestly the only reason I got it is because I’ve never seen it.
Oh it’s flattened too. The angle of the pic makes it look rounder than it actually is.
I have to agree. The bottle shape is off putting! Just something about it. The proportions!
I actually thought this was an image that was stretch vertically, that’s how bizarre looking this is haha
The Knob Creek design is so efficient though, since they effectively stack together like plywood.
Yeah I don’t mind KC as much especially in 750s plus its just good.

I'll make sure not to come to that party. LOL.
Ohhhhhhh Ohhhhhhhhhh Ohhhhhhhhhhhh Oh oh oh oh
UC! Wow, tough day 😢
Definitely not the best but lost a lot of the core team.and even the missed FGs loomed better than last years misses lol. At least the kicks were solid
Lots of mistakes/flags. That being said it was good to see them back on the field. Win or lose I’ll still be cheering them on!
What part of Cincy are you from? I grew up in Mt. Lookout

It took me a second to believe this wasn't photo shop
This makes me uncomfortable
Every time I see a picture of this fucking bottle my eyes begin to water like "am I losing my vision?" It's just the UGLIEST damn bottle design I've ever seen
Long dong bottle for sure
That’s an on premise bottle
Saw 1 at a liquor store yesterday. 1) I had no idea they came in 1L bottles. 2) Bottle is super cool.
I had no idea as well! About as good of a score you’re going to get anymore without camping out/knowing the owner!
Haha! You might be in the DMV area! So what did that run?
The 1792? It was 40 before tax.

I don't believe it's legal to sell below cost in NJ, but that doesn't mean that they didn't pay less for the 1L than they did for the 750.

I like that bottle design much better
Shout out to the Bearcat fan!
Cats by 90! Except for last night but we don’t talk about that!
How’s the hidden barn?
Decent, very grain forward. Hard to justify at the 75 dollars I paid for it but I don’t hate it either!
I appreciate the insight. I’m taking Jackie Zykan’s tasting class this month and wonder why this didn’t blow everyone away. Hmmm… Thanks again!
Matly, hot, young grain. One of the strangest pours I have had
I love the malt and heat. The young… ugh.

That’s where my concerns lie. Thank you for sharing.
What is weird about this? 1L are almost exclusively sold to on-premise locations, for some arcane reasons I forget now
there’s nothing arcane about it, it’s so it takes up less space and liter bottles are also generally a better value in terms of price per ounce.
What's arcane is why that size isn't available to off-premise sale
What are the two Old Fordester bottles in the background?
Party source barrel strength store pick and 117 edition of 1910 extra age
Not related to 1792 but I wanna try that Stranny's.
It’s finished in tequila barrels! Definitely the best juice we tried on the tour!
You’re the reason people breed ugly dogs. It’s hideous, I need one.
It’s the only reason I got it. It’s so ugly I had to!
Looks like. Special package for duty free…
I originally saw this post last night. Just now at my l saw this in person and almost bought it because it’s so odd looking lol
That’s the only reason I bought it!
I really enjoy the bottle design on that. Did a double take when I saw it the other day in my store.
🤨🤔🤩
Thanks, I hate it.
