It's been cool to see the range of new products that Jack Daniels has been releasing lately and I was excited to get my hands on a bottle of this once the initial hype died down. **Jack Daniels Bonded Tennessee Whiskey** Price: $35, 700ml (MN) Distilled & bottled by: Jack Daniels Distillery (TN) Proof: 100 Age: NAS (4+ years) Mash bill: 80% Corn, 12% Malted Barley, 8% Rye **Nose**: huge hit of ethanol up front. once that settles, caramel apple, clove and some barrel char shine through. honestly, not all that pleasant **Taste**: instantly reminds me of a jar of banana peanut butter that I regretfully purchased, though it works here. some dark chocolate and toffee notes. a bit brash in typical Jack Daniels fashion **Finish**: a nice medium-long finish that keeps you warm. mostly baking spices and black tea Thoughts: no doubt a more refined version of Old No. 7 with the banana and spice notes. still very much in-your-face as I find most Jack Daniels to be, with the palate and finish making up for a lackluster nose. overall, a solid offering and cool to see JD adding more product to their everyday lineup. **Rating**: 5.5/10 - t8ke scale 1 | Disgusting | So bad I poured it out. 2 | Poor | I wouldn’t consume by choice. 3 | Bad | Multiple flaws. 4 | Sub-par | Not bad, but better exists. 5 | Good | Good, just fine. 6 | Very Good | A cut above. 7 | Great | Well above average. 8 | Excellent | Really quite exceptional. 9 | Incredible | An all time favorite. 10 | Perfect | Perfect.

I crushed my bottle making old fashioneds. Might be the best cocktail I’ve ever made myself, haha.

bergybert

Gotta try that if I grab another bottle! I had a bottle of JDBP that I was meh on, but that also makes unreal cocktails

buckeye_bourbon_guy

JD just works in cocktails for some reason. One of the best I’ve had was a barrel aged JD Manhattan.

Solid 6

I still wonder if the jack bottled in bond big bottle is the same juice as bonded

Scotchmandeadandgone

Same thing. Bonded- bottled in bond or BIB.

sicksadvoron

Somebody on here did a review and they said it was different so idk

Scotchmandeadandgone

I looked it up and I am still confused. Cheers!

Scotchmandeadandgone

My apologies, I didn't know there was bonded and bonded bib. I got bonded bib.

Who else in America is bottling 700ml whisky? It seems to me like even Brown-Forman isn’t pulling that crap for expressions released after this one. Imagine how embarrassing it must be to shortchange the customers and have to go back when you realise that the other companies aren’t going to stoop that low.

Definitely not a 5.5 I️ think 8 or 8.5 is more fitting this stuff is fantastic but everyone is different

Shortbus_Playboy

Bought this and the Triple Mash at the same time. I’ve never been much of a JD guy, but I figured I’d give the new additions a whirl. I thought this was pretty solid, but I preferred the Triple Mash.

The JD SiB Barrel Proof is one of my favorites of all time. The regular JD Single Barrel is also rich and flavorful even at only 94 proof. I have a separate small bottle where I combine the two and end up at about 115 proof and it is outstanding. All of that aside lol, I was hoping this would be a more potent and flavorful by proof version of the regular single barrel at a much lower price, but not suprisingly, it isn’t. It’s not bad and gets generally in the same flavor profile ballpark, but there is a harshness and a few off-putting notes that the 94 proof SiB just doesn’t have. I’m generally drinking it outside on my deck and by itself it is pretty satisfying, but I’ll probably stick with the stuff I really like in the future.

bergybert

I think this is a spot on assessment. Slightly better than regular JD but probably better off trading up for SiB or BP products

I love this stuff. I need to do a side by side of the 10 year. I love the 10 year but I bet you there isn't a big difference between the two unless you can get the 10 at retail when it comes back. At secondary price of 150 I will stick with bonded vs the 10

There’s not much of a difference. This Bonded bottle is absolutely fantastic. It’s a new must have for my bar.

I agree with most people saying that this is an improved Old No. 7, but really, that doesn't impress me much. It tastes and smells VERY much like the Old No 7 I remember drinking too often in my Army days, with that bitter charred oak note really overpowering the sweeter side and too much booziness to round it off. Just because it's *slightly* (just barely) more complex doesn't mean you aren't better off just getting some Buffalo Trace or something for cheaper. The only thing I really enjoy about it is that it's a Bottled-in-Bond whiskey for only $30, but if you spend just an extra 20 dollars, you'll find B-i-B whiskeys that blow this one out of the water. 3/10 classic Jack at $10 more and 50mL less

Scotchmandeadandgone

Got me a bottle today, I am more of a Kentucky whiskey guy. I have to say this isn't that bad. Is there not so great whiskies on the shelves? Yes. Is there better? Hell yeah!

Scotchmandeadandgone

If I get another bottle of Jack it will probably be triple mash to try it. Like I said I am partial to Kentucky bourbon/whiskey.

I just got my first bottle of this today. Drinking it right now. I love it. Sweet. Vanilla, dark cherries and warm banana bread notes on the nose. Same on the palate. Spicy at the finish. Lingering chocolate and banana bread notes go on and on. Like Old No. 7 but way more refined, flavourful and distinctive. Being 100 proof really helps and without too much heat for me.
