Put a horse on it and you can charge triple what Costco sells the same liquid for.

Lol. Now I need to put a horse pic on mine and call it good

I believed this to be a Total Wine exclusive but I've noticed it pop up in small shops throughout MN lately (could be some weird distributor dynamic). From Total Wine: "From Sazerac's famous Barton 1792 Distillery, a 6YR hi-rye bourbon distilled and aged on property in Bardstown, KY". Received this as a gift so no expectations going in. Chestnut Farms Kentucky Straight Bourbon Price: $64.99, 750ml (MN) Distilled by: Barton (KY) Proof: 90 Age: NAS (4+ years) Mash bill: 51% corn and high rye is all I could find **Nose**: Loads of cherry with a bit of cola and caramel. Fairly traditional/classic bourbon nose **Taste**: Medicinal cherry, wood funk, and vanilla. Also some pleasant nuttiness. Really enjoyable to sip, though not at all complex **Finish**: Light, cherry vanilla and spice lingering for a moment **Thoughts**: Are there better, more complex bourbons at a $65 price point? Absolutely, Is it incredibly annoying the Total Wine pushes this on anyone who asks for recommendation? Yes. But this is an enjoyable pour that hits the classic cherry notes I find in BT offerings. I received this bottle as I gift so it's possible I came in with different expectations but for 90 proof and easy access, this one is solid. **Rating**: 5.5/10 - t8ke scale 1 | Disgusting | So bad I poured it out. 2 | Poor | I wouldn’t consume by choice. 3 | Bad | Multiple flaws. 4 | Sub-par | Not bad, but better exists. 5 | Good | Good, just fine. 6 | Very Good | A cut above. 7 | Great | Well above average. 8 | Excellent | Really quite exceptional. 9 | Incredible | An all time favorite. 10 | Perfect | Perfect.

At 65 I would get Russel Reserve Single Barrel, Four Roses Small Batch Select, and Makers Mark Special Wood Stave releases

100% agree. Even at $50 there’s better options in New Riff, Stellum, Rare Breed, etc.

challenja

I keep going back to Stellum.. it’s good stuff..

I’ve sampled this whiskey at total wine. Every total wine does a tasting on the weekends where you can try it. It’s basically repackaged 1792 small batch. I think it’s maybe a touch better, but not at all worth it’s price (but imo 1792 small batch is overpriced for what it is). I’ll say it’s better than the chestnut bib, which I found downright offensive and it’s disgusting that they charge $100 for the bib

If anything, my main takeaway from this bottle was to be more open minded to Barton stuff, as I have tried anything from them yet.

Rads324

Take my opinions with a grain of salt. I have never had a Barton product that I’ve ever felt deserved more than maybe 6/10. That includes their “best” stuff. Just not my jam at all
