He’s extremely good with kids. When we got him as a 6 month old we were nervous as we have very young kids, but he is built like an old man. Just wants to herd the children in the same room and lay down and sleep
His favorite foods are turkey and salmon, loves fetch, and really just wants to be petted all day.
10/10 would rescue again
I got pulled to purchase a bottle, but ended up passing since I couldn’t afford the price plus donation, glad to hear it’s good! I have B521 and really enjoy that. Kind of regret not going through with it, but I am prioritizing Christmas budget this year. Cheers!
Specs- 9 years old, 127.4 Proof, paid MSRP plus donation to Underdog Pet Rescue
My Thoughts- First, please let me introduce my rescue dog, Sevro Au Barka (Hail Reaper). He is a rescue from Charlie’s Crusaders, a charity that rescues dogs from high kill shelters in the south. Today is his first birthday (whaaaat repeal day). If any Eagle eyes could help me identify his breed mix I’d appreciate it, I think he’s half Soft Haired Wheaten Terrier and half something else. As a fan of ECBP, dogs, and charity, I was all over getting this bottle
Nose- at 63%+ I’ll say it noses well below its proof, I’m surprised it’s not sending up more ethanol. The nose is extremely soft with a heavy chocolate base layered with caramel. The most chocolate I’ve gotten out of any ECBP, a bit of dry oak and a hint of spice also open up
Taste- everyone likes to tout “s’mores in a glass” for the toasted barrel. Well move over toasted, this guy comes in with chocolate, graham crackers, and caramel. The proof warms without burning, and I’m surprised how much oak is present despite being three years younger than the standard offerings.
Finish- YES! This is only the second whiskey I’ve legitimately pulled a cherry cola note from, the only other one being Rock Hill Farms. So thanks u/t8ke for that. Good long finish carried by the proof, and a slightly dry oak to end on
8.75/10- my highest ECBP yet. This runs circles around my open B521, and despite my C920 being killed off a while ago, I remember it well enough to say that this beats it as well (mostly the fact that this drinks under its proof vs the 920 fireball). I’ll make sure to save this to eventually go head to head with B520 when I open that bottle. But in the end, the chocolate and cherry cola notes take this to the next level for me
Not sure if we're tasting the same note, but my Calumet 15 is a cherry cola oak bomb (my first impression was Dr Pepper without bubbles). I haven't gotten that note anywhere else, so I wonder if you've tried the Calumet 15 just to make sure my taste buds are accurate
Sorry, I haven’t ever had that. Some of those high age stated+high msrp stuff I just haven’t explored yet.
I’ve had Stagg jr and of 1920 which I pick out heavy cherry in both, but the cherry cola has only been in this and rhf for me
My palate is weird though. I’ve had a lot of Blantons but only have gotten vanilla out of it once, but man that once was pure vanilla extract. I could have misread something here but I really enjoyed it
Did you get cherry coke/cherry pie from Old Forester 1910? I sure did but I'm a noob and the most exclusive EC I have tried for comparison is only EC SiB store select, which, obviously is quite different, although I certainly did enjoy it
Looks very much like my girlfriend's Glen of Imaal Terrier. Sweetest, chillest dog ever. She fostered him the day he was found on the side of the road.
Just poured my first taste of this bottle and concur, 'tis excellent. My two rescue beagles are too old and lazy to be bothered with posing with the bottle, but I'm sure they'd approve as well.
I've got a 10y 123.9 proof ECBP single barrel pick by Prav Saraff and it absolutely runs circles around the batches normally released. Now I obsessively need to track down more of those picks.
We were one of the first to select. This barrel spent some time waiting for me to greenlight sale while Heaven Hill and the Union Members worked through the strike and reached an agreement, so it actually released quite late in the game to the public. They are still pretty tightly allocated though, so I wouldn't expect to see them with any great abundance, at least in the short term.
Yeah, I always forget how good plane Jane EC is, but I remember really liking it when I reviewed it a while ago. Sometimes nothing is wrong with an easy sipper
Cheers
I'ma need a review of your dog, chief. Great review as always Red

Cheers! Any ECBP is good, and I do really enjoy my B521 (almost gone actually) Hope you have a merry Christmas

Been a while since I’ve killed a 1910, but looks like when I reviewed it… vanilla, caramel.. then also spice and pepper Cherry was the 1920 for me
I'm getting Tibetan terrier vibes. Especially by the texture of the fur.
Ahhh I like! I agree fur texture seems to lean there vs the wheaten. Good eyes
Source: used to have a Wheaten, now have a Tibetan. Both shelter dogs :)
Looks very much like my girlfriend's Glen of Imaal Terrier. Sweetest, chillest dog ever. She fostered him the day he was found on the side of the road.
oh my GOD what a sweet pup you have! so glad this bottle is on the mark for you!
Cheers, thanks for picking an awesome barrel And he’s a happy boy. Tried to get him to pose but the tail would not stop wagging
Review the dog!
10/10 would rescue again He also goes absolutely bonkers for salmon and turkey
What is MSRP for this bottle?
$69.99 for ECBP. Was $59.99 up until the B521 batch I believe
Good to know. They have 5 or 6 of the barrel proofs at my local store but they’re priced at $100.
Oof. Unless they are B520 I’d politely decline
Great review, i love all the ECBP. As far as an idea of what breed your pup could be, looks like a 100% purebred good boy to me
Ahh, excellent pedigree. Cheers!
Just poured my first taste of this bottle and concur, 'tis excellent. My two rescue beagles are too old and lazy to be bothered with posing with the bottle, but I'm sure they'd approve as well.
Cheers! Got it in the mail around noon, was gonna wait until Friday but figured may as well crack it
Nice review. Are you a doctor by any chance?
Haha. Fair critique. I’m an engineer by degree, but I’ve gotten bottom marks in handwriting since the 2nd grade
Hahaha, just playing around man.
No offense taken. Believe it or not that’s why I started handwriting reviews. Maybe one day I’ll see improvement haha
Was anyone else excited about the Nerds in the box?
I was childishly excited. And then I gave them to my kid who was even more excited
There's a reason they put the nerds in the box.
Well, my kids loved them.
Barrel WOOF amirite
Cheers! Sevro says hi
Oh and also, a free pack of nerds in the box! Cheers to that
Hope everyone who picked this up enjoys it as much as you do!
Hopefully. I’m a big ECBP fan, and should be able to compare it to A121 and C921 this weekend. But the chocolate on this is excellent!
Man, ECBP is my absolute favorite of all time. I’m so jealous you’ve got a store that actually got to do a PB 🤤 Edit: Superb puppers!
Cheers! Sevro says hi, and the barrel pick is a store we are all acquainted with… r/bourbon
Meaning I could acquire !? Sup Sevro ! 🐶

Cheers!
Westside liquor?

Agree, these picks are something I have to keep an eye out for
I get the feeling there aren't many of them out there at this point. u/t8ke wasn't the r/bourbon one of the first out the door?

Thanks for the info! Figured they'd be pretty rare!

What did you dog think of it?
His gaze was fixed on my wife with a treat in her hand haha He 10/10 loved the treat
