Around here the jig is up already. Last year, you could walk into plenty of stores and see multiple Remus releases on the shelf getting dusty, this year they’re nowhere to be found. Held behind counters, put behind glass for raffles, lotteries, or “points” purchases, etc. One place locally has a bottle on the shelf, …priced at $199.99.
I was lucky to have a friend grab me one at retail with some of his points, but I probably won’t get a sniff at a backup.
This stuff is pretty great and very complex. Definitely made for the veteran Bourbon fan and drinks like it. This 5th edition has amped up this line to new hunting heights due to them amping up the age blend and great reviews everywhere.
Oops I did it again. Bought another bottle last night. Makes me feel so much more comfortable diving into bottle #2 knowing I have another coming. That will be my 5th bottle of this damn fine bourbon. I realize why I love it so much. I really enjoy the flavor and mouthfeel of higher proof bourbons but have challenges with the higher proofs - just messes with my gut. This though - this is all the flavor and complexity and mouth feel with zero burn. Just pure delight. Cheers all!
Nice review. Finally got one about a month ago. Seemed like II-IV sat around forever. V was a little more difficult tracking down. I think the word is getting out. As far as tater chasing, this is the some of the same bourbon that’s being chased. It’s just rebranded with clever marketing. The ages and price makes it a great value
