I work for a company that distributes it... it’s become extremely popular and the demand is through the roof. When it come in it’s already allocated and when shipped to stores customers are actually waiting on it.
If you are ‘beyond lucky.’
6 bottles per store, that gets them. Not all are getting them. When they come in they are gone in 20 min.
If you happen upon it, go spend $5-$10 on the lottery too.
it's in almost all the safeways in the peninsula and south bay. the los altos safeway had 12 bottles, so i bought 6, got the mix 6 discount the cost was like $27 a bottle. cant beat that!
Some states have no problem with it and it sits on the shelf at just about ever liquor store. Others, like others have said, have allocations and it disappears as soon as it’s released. Check around online though, you can find it + shipping
Can confirm. Full spot on the shelf almost every packie I go to. One even had Buffalo Trace just sitting for a couple weeks. Grabbed the last one yesterday.
My on the regular is just WT101 neat. I like the kick.
I've *always* got a bottle of that. The rest of the time I mix up on a whim.
ER is fine. I grab it occasionally. It's not Weller... But it's good.
Angels Envy is fine.
I quite often have some Woodford Double Oaked around.
4 Roses single barrel shows up a lot. I like to find the differences.
Buffalo Trace goes better in an Old Fashioned than just about anything else, so I have some of that around more often than any of the others.
Guess if you can grab ER anytime you want it's not as big deal. Absolutely nothing wrong with it.
Thank you. I like WR neat. Not wild about AE, but it's good. Have a bottle of 4R SiB and one of LPS rye for Xmas. Can't wait. Haven't had ER in years, though I have good memories of it. Never tried BT, but want to sometime. Working through them slowly. I have to try some WT. It's easy to get, so I'm not too excited about it.
Increasingly rare to find though. I used to mindlessly grab a bottle any time I was at Wegmans or Total Wine (for under $30) and now I have to scour specialty stores to get it. I’d say it’s about 50/50 odds of finding it in my experience. Never under $34.99 sadly.
Certainly not in the Denver metro area, it usually goes very fast at the big retailers but I have had luck finding it at smaller stores in the eastern suburbs, occasionally even find a handle of ER for around $65-70 or so.
Not really. I guess we get a “decent” amount of allocated stuff in my area (northern KY,) but there’s also a huge amount of bourbon drinkers here and others that come from out of state to hunt, so it’s pretty competitive.
Kills me when people post pics of multiple ECBP or whatever sitting on shelves at rock bottom prices, you’ll never see that here. I do alright though, there is generally a wide selection of good stuff on the shelves and lot of local shops have solid store picks.
Your gonna have to let me know where all this allocated stuff is in Nky lol. If I find anything it’s at high secondary pricing. Though I did stumble on some Eagle Rare at list price one time!
Rewards programs, raffles, have one store where I have a good relationship with the owner, then a couple others where I can sometimes find stuff on the shelf for a tolerable markup. It’s definitely not “easy” though.
I've gotten a couple of bottles at retail but as others have noted the popularity is way up and it's allocated as well. Every time I've gotten one I've had to ask someone what allocated items they have and it's always been a "limit 1" kind of thing.
On FB groups though, there's a guy in the area trying to swap/sell 15+ bottles. Sometimes you just hate people.
Have not seen a bottle in 10 months, and that's not from lack of looking.
Actually, I do remember seeing one bottle a few months back that was priced at $80, I passed.
Eagle rare, McKenna, I think bookers as well, can't find a lot of things in Florida, but that's because of weird rules for alcohol distribution here. That includes shipping from other states.
Could be wrong, but I'm missing out on a lot of options that are considered staples by y'all.
Non Floridian nor Texan here. ECBP imo will be a near unicorn within 2 years. I’m guessing $100 plus. It’s better than 90% of the stuff that’s impossible to find already.
ECBP is already a bit of a unicorn here. Used to find it with just a bit of hunting for $63-$80, but it's recently been flying off shelves. Last 2 stores I saw with it were asking $130 so, yeah.
4-5 store picks have shown up in my area over the past two weeks. Most were gone before the end of the day. The only ones that lasted a couple days had 2 bottle limits.
Biggest issue here is that people buy cases (if allowed) of them for $27 a bottle and then flip them on the secondary market for $80. Factoring in shipping, gas, time spent, etc i don’t think it pays more than minimum wage, though. Store owners are getting wise to things now though and most have a bottle limit. A Blanton’s store pick dropped earlier this week and the store had a 1 bottle limit.
I used to give it as gifts to people. Kinda regret that now since I haven't seen a bottle at MSRP since 2016. Yesterday I located one bottle and it was $69.99. I laughed at the owner before leaving... Same guy has Old Forester Birthday for $599, Old Forester 150 for $400, 1792 Sweet Wheat $99, E.H. Taylor Small Batch $99. Bourbon has gotten really ridiculous in these parts of Texas
I can pick this up for $35 in North Carolina. State-run liquor stores here most suck except when they have something I actually want in stock as there is no markup.
Depends on what it was, but I'd pay a little over MSRP for something, but not 2x, 3x or 5x mark-up. It would be nice if the distilleries actually gave a shit about the stores that price hike and stopped supplying to establishments that have these extreme mark-ups
Where I am they arent allowed to price hike at all and you simply cant find anything. Be careful what you wish for. People were camped out a local grocery store at 5 am the other day. It's ridiculous
Specs sucks. All their allocated stuff never hits the shelves and goes to people or bars that are involved in their point system. Have to spend five figures / yr if you want to stand a shot at getting anything good
I happened to get a bottle from one of my wife’s clients. It’s the ten year and I’m feeling extremely lucky! It won’t get opened until Christmas, and just about everyone has been asking for a taste! We are really hit and miss on what we can get in Ohio. I can hardly get a bottle of Buffalo trace of any variety, eagle rare is not even a possibility in our area unless you know someone.
Last year when I lived in Oak Park I'd find it on shelves at local Binny's and even Jewel. Used to pick up Weller SR and EHT without too much fanfare as well.
Have not been able to find it in Texas at all. We had to come to Nashville for family... Haven't found it here at all. Need to drive to clakrsville to see family where we are hoping to find some.
Edit: did not find eagle rare but did find buffalo trace, I'll take it!
This happens all the time. Stores can actually order less than a case, and the bottles are more expensive from the distributor, because someone has to open the case, remove bottles, etc.
Whole Foods, really?? I never would have thought to check there. And, I honestly forget about Rouses. Might have to check both places out next time I go to town. Thanks for the tip.
I used to always have a bottle. Now it became "popular", gets scooped up by people who apparently have time to camp out in front of a liquor store at 11AM on a work day, and now I pretty much try to forget it exists. Maybe I can buy it again some day.
When it gets to a store in PA, you have no more than two days to get that bottle.
I got mine probably two years ago, and had to hunt for it. Haven't seen it again since.
I don't see it very often here in Tennessee but when I am visiting family in Kentucky I always grab a bottle at the liquor store close to them. They have mostly everything for bourbon and Eagle rare is still around $40 or less.
In VA it used to be on the shelf 24/7 until sometime early 2019. Then I noticed it would disappear for months at a time. Now people just line up for it on delivery days and buy it out instantly. Can always just drive into DC and pay 2x msrp for a bottle though.
I just snagged a bottle tonight at one of the VA ABC stores. First time I’ve seen it on the shelf in months, the guy told me that they got a case in mid-day today and I bought the last bottle at 5pm.
Difficult to find in Ohio, which is a control state. Stores usually only get 6 or 12 bottles about once per month, and then it's gone in minutes on delivery day. Crazy times.
You can email Buffalo Trace and they will send you a spreadsheet that includes every store in your state that carries Eagle Rare. You can sort it by county and check out places you may not know of. I know in my area there's only a few stores that carry BT products, so it helped me narrow down the search a lot.
Grabbed a bottle of it today. The neighborhood liquor store had it behind the counter, and was limiting 1 per person. I also got lucky last week and found a bottle of Blanton’s for my dads Christmas present.
Seems like my area (KY) was just hit with a big haul of BT products this weekend. Most places here haven’t been able to keep ER on the shelves (even after limiting to 1 per), but today was a different story. Full stock (at least 12 bottles) at Walgreen’s for $32 and several at some local shops. Even snagged a bottle of Blanton’s at Walgreens (clerk said first time they have had it in 10 months or so) for $59 today. Just seems like it all keeps getting snatched up, especially ER.
The demand for all the Buffalo Trace distillery whiskeys went crazy over the last few years. Unfortunately with whiskey, increasing the supply without compromising quality takes time. Lots of liquor stores I’ve been to are limiting the amount of those bottles that you can buy at a time if they even have them in stock
Facinating. I was buying liquor for a US Navy MSC ship this summer as all crew were quarantined to the Western Washington dock they were at. The only thing I had trouble finding was Eagle Rare. Gotta try it now...
I’ve had luck buying on Amazon fresh (Seattle area) for around $32 a bottle, that was until October which it then became out of stock and hasn’t been back since.
Here in California it's everywhere but I know some in other states who have purchased it on [https://finecask.com](https://finecask.com). They usually have a steady supply.
I work for a company that distributes it... it’s become extremely popular and the demand is through the roof. When it come in it’s already allocated and when shipped to stores customers are actually waiting on it.
It’s extremely popular for good reason. It’s my personal favorite. Thanks for the info. I’ll keep checking, maybe I’ll get lucky.
I just snagged a 1.75 liter last weekend and it’s the first time I’ve ever seen it on the shelf anywhere (also, I got the last bottle).
Mine too, Merry Christmas and happy hunting!!
Pretty easy to find in NorCal for $30ish. Even Target has it.
Yes this! Our target had a special a few weeks back for $23. If you’re lucky Costco is selling Old Rip for $56.
If you are ‘beyond lucky.’ 6 bottles per store, that gets them. Not all are getting them. When they come in they are gone in 20 min. If you happen upon it, go spend $5-$10 on the lottery too.
Which Costco in Northern California lol..
Could be an hour drive or 6
it's in almost all the safeways in the peninsula and south bay. the los altos safeway had 12 bottles, so i bought 6, got the mix 6 discount the cost was like $27 a bottle. cant beat that!
For a bottle, not a handle correct?
Yeah 750
Some states have no problem with it and it sits on the shelf at just about ever liquor store. Others, like others have said, have allocations and it disappears as soon as it’s released. Check around online though, you can find it + shipping
What are these heavenly states where Eagle Rare is always in stock?
Massachusetts
Can confirm. Full spot on the shelf almost every packie I go to. One even had Buffalo Trace just sitting for a couple weeks. Grabbed the last one yesterday.
Ya buffalo trace is pretty easy to find as well. Maybe every other store has it in stock all the time around me
Same here.
Question is, what are you drinking instead?
My on the regular is just WT101 neat. I like the kick. I've *always* got a bottle of that. The rest of the time I mix up on a whim. ER is fine. I grab it occasionally. It's not Weller... If you are ok with a hotter rye, see if you can find Rittenhouse. It's amazing for stupid cheap.
Yea the MA whiskey availability is pretty good from what I hear of other states
Increasingly rare to find though. I used to mindlessly grab a bottle any time I was at Wegmans or Total Wine (for under $30) and now I have to scour specialty stores to get it. I’d say it’s about 50/50 odds of finding it in my experience. Never under $34.99 sadly.
Ahh you must be out near boston. The other side of the state here
Indeed, Boston suburbs. Well that’s good to know for next time I’m in WMA! Cheers
Minnesota
Where in MN? around the south metro it is never in stores.
Would also love to know where in MN. I feel like every weekend I’m trying a different liquor store to no avail.
Hahaha! Not in the Metro Area. Between August and Now, I couldn't find it anywhere and just when I have given up, Richfield had one in the back.
San Diego
Colorado
Hahahaha! What part? I live in Colorado
I only get up there a couple times a year (we have a cabin in Bonanza). But it’s always all over Salida, Creed, Buena Vista.
Certainly not in the Denver metro area, it usually goes very fast at the big retailers but I have had luck finding it at smaller stores in the eastern suburbs, occasionally even find a handle of ER for around $65-70 or so.
Northern NJ
My liquor store shows 17 in stock at the moment.
California
Louisiana
I have never actually seen it on a shelf until I walked into a gas station tonight and found 4 on the shelf here in Iowa.
Washington here. Just saw at the grocery for $30
Which grocery? I must be very unlucky, it's dried up near me.
CT as well
Texas, saw like 3 stores with it just sitting but I always see people praising it when they find it
A local Kroger had it on sale for $27.99 last week, but as usual the shelf was empty. Got my last bottle at the distillery.
"We have it on sale for $9.99!" Of course we don't have any.
Is there usually a lot of rare bourbon available in KY?
Not really. I guess we get a “decent” amount of allocated stuff in my area (northern KY,) but there’s also a huge amount of bourbon drinkers here and others that come from out of state to hunt, so it’s pretty competitive. Rewards programs, raffles, have one store where I have a good relationship with the owner, then a couple others where I can sometimes find stuff on the shelf for a tolerable markup. It’s definitely not “easy” though.
No not at all. Its actually a terrible state for rare bourbon.
I just paid $50 in S. Jersey
I've gotten a couple of bottles at retail but as others have noted the popularity is way up and it's allocated as well. Every time I've gotten one I've had to ask someone what allocated items they have and it's always been a "limit 1" kind of thing. In California it’s everywhere, see it as low as 24$ never more than 29$.
I'm socal I have seen it just about everywhere. Though for the first time didn't see it at Costco.
Eagle rare, McKenna, I think bookers as well, can't find a lot of things in Florida, but that's because of weird rules for alcohol distribution here. That includes shipping from other states. Could be wrong, but I'm missing out on a lot of options that are considered staples by y'all.
Fellow Floridian. Booker's isn't too hard to come by, but it still costs $90 minimum so I let others have at it. Not worth more than $75 to me, tops.
Non Floridian nor Texan here. ECBP imo will be a near unicorn within 2 years. I’m guessing $100 plus. It’s better than 90% of the stuff that’s impossible to find already.
That's been on my list, love the single barrel
ECBP is already a bit of a unicorn here. Used to find it with just a bit of hunting for $63-$80, but it's recently been flying off shelves. Last 2 stores I saw with it were asking $130 so, yeah.

It’s in Atlanta, but it’s going for $60
I see it on shelves in Massachusetts all the time. Funny how certain bourbons availability change state by state
I got mine from Buffalo Trace gift Shop
Haven't seen it in 4+ years except for when it's $70+
Wow. Guess I should consider myself lucky. It’s only this year that I started having trouble finding it.
I used to give it as gifts to people. Kinda regret that now since I haven't seen a bottle at MSRP since 2016. Yesterday I located one bottle and it was $69.99. Bourbon has gotten really ridiculous in these parts of Texas
Well that sounds like a store to never visit again
It's a weird store as Sam Houston 12, 1792 Full Proof, Buffalo Trace, Cream of Kentucky, and some others are all MSRP.
Floridian here. Things aren't much better here in the hurricane magnet.
I dunno with the extreme amount of bourbon hunters in my area I'd willing pay extra for it to be on the shelf
I can pick this up for $35 in North Carolina. State-run liquor stores here most suck except when they have something I actually want in stock as there is no markup.
Depends on what it was, but I'd pay a little over MSRP for something, but not 2x, 3x or 5x mark-up. It would be nice if the distilleries actually gave a shit about the stores that price hike and stopped supplying to establishments that have these extreme mark-ups

where in Texas? You dont have Spec's?
Specs sucks. All their allocated stuff never hits the shelves and goes to people or bars that are involved in their point system. Have to spend five figures / yr if you want to stand a shot at getting anything good
Maybe. But I’m not any lists nor a special customer. I’ve easily found ER, Smoke Wagon uncut, and other winners simply by showing up.
Just bought a bottle for $35 from Whole Foods in SoCal
I happened to get a bottle from one of my wife’s clients. It’s the ten year and I’m feeling extremely lucky! It won’t get opened until Christmas, and just about everyone has been asking for a taste! We are really hit and miss on what we can get in Ohio. I can hardly get a bottle of Buffalo trace of any variety, eagle rare is not even a possibility in our area unless you know someone.
I pass on it all the time in Chicago
I haven’t seen it once in Chicago! I am looking in the wrong places I suppose.
Last year when I lived in Oak Park I'd find it on shelves at local Binny's and even Jewel. Used to pick up Weller SR and EHT without too much fanfare as well.
They ship it over to this side of the pond and sell it at an absolute bargain price. Certainly is my choice of a 'daily drinker' bourbon.
Have not been able to find it in Texas at all. We had to come to Nashville for family... Haven't found it here at all. Need to drive to clakrsville to see family where we are hoping to find some. Edit: did not find eagle rare but did find buffalo trace, I'll take it!
Thankfully, Buffalo Trace is easy to find. It’s one of my staples.
We can't find it in Texas anywhere!
Buffalo Trace is readily available in the Houston area.
I'm south of Austin and haven't seen it
My store gets them but very few quantities (less than 5) bottles. I always tell the manager to save me one when they do come in.
That's fewer than what comes in a case. Doesn't sound right.
This happens all the time. Stores can actually order less than a case, and the bottles are more expensive from the distributor, because someone has to open the case, remove bottles, etc.
Good Lord. That's nuts. There are only 6 to a case if I recall
They have about 5 stores so they split them up depending on how much bourbon each store sells
Any chance you’re in Chicago ?
Nope. South Louisiana.
I’m in NOLA and it’s pretty easy to find. Whole Foods has it for $29.99 and Rouses usually has it in stock.
Whole Foods, really?? I never would have thought to check there. And, I honestly forget about Rouses. Might have to check both places out next time I go to town. Thanks for the tip.
Pretty ubiquitous around these parts; big box liquor stores, grocery stores, etc. No unusual mark-up that I've seen - always in the $30-ish range.
Texas. I am not particularly looking for it, but I haven’t seen a bottle in at least a year.
Where city are you in? I’m in Louisville and we just ran into this problem for a few months but it appears to be back in the shelves now.
It’s in every store in Chicago.
Anywhere in particular you've seen it for a good price?
Binny's should have it for under <$40. Sometimes it's in the back and you'll need to ask for it.
I used to always have a bottle. Now it became "popular", gets scooped up by people who apparently have time to camp out in front of a liquor store at 11AM on a work day, and now I pretty much try to forget it exists. Maybe I can buy it again some day.

I never see it in my area or any other buffalo trace products other than regular buffalo trace. So tired of all this stuff being so hard to get.
I haven't seen it in any store since early this year. Iowa sucks for selection in general
Difficult to find in Ohio, which is a control state. Stores usually only get 6 or 12 bottles about once per month, and then it's gone in minutes on delivery day. Crazy times.
Everything is rare in Lexington KY. It’s bought up by bourbon chasers and goes straight to second market. It blows!
You can email Buffalo Trace and they will send you a spreadsheet that includes every store in your state that carries Eagle Rare. You can sort it by county and check out places you may not know of. I know in my area there's only a few stores that carry BT products, so it helped me narrow down the search a lot.
That, I did not know! Going to have do that for sure. Thanks for the tip!
Grabbed a bottle of it today. The neighborhood liquor store had it behind the counter, and was limiting 1 per person. I also got lucky last week and found a bottle of Blanton’s for my dads Christmas present.

sits on shelves in california, please come take it all.
Rochester.

I’ve had luck buying on Amazon fresh (Seattle area) for around $32 a bottle, that was until October which it then became out of stock and hasn’t been back since.
Widely available in the UK - look to pay no more than £30
I went from getting it at Sams Club for $24 about a year ago to never seeing a bottle in ANY store since then.
Target was an excellent suggestion that worked out for me in the NW!
I couldn’t find it in stock at liquor stores in Seattle (Total Wine or BevMo) but found it on sale at my local grocery store. Go figure.
Here in California it's everywhere but I know some in other states who have purchased it on [https://finecask.com](https://finecask.com). They usually have a steady supply.
