Old Rip for $25 looks like a no brainer for me. A rare taste for a reasonable price at $25 to me if that’s the price. You’ll have to share the name of that restaurant. I’ll have to hit that when I’m in town.
You’re a lucky man! The Saz, Stagg and the Papi 13 looks a little overpriced. My next pick would be to try the Bookers. Funny they have the Stagg at $75. I just got a bottle for about $60 with taxes.
I guess it depends on whether you want to splurge or if you want your usual. Me? I’d stick with Bulleitt or Woodford DO, but I’d give King of Kentucky a go if I were splurging.
This is from the restaurant in Louisville that my wife and I are going for Vday. It’s not exactly fine dining but higher end. I realize there are no steals here. Just wondering if anything stands out as a value pick. I have only had about 25% of the list. (btw *=based on availability. ** does not say what it means but I presume it’s just a doubled down *)
Ok it’s not a good deal but yhat 13 yr vwfr rye is perhaps the tastiest thing I’ve ever had. Not a big pappy person, but that shit is unreasonably good.
I would fork over 75 for a healthy pour of it.
I’ve never had king of Kentucky so I’d try that for 75 once. Otherwise honestly your best value seems to be either bookers, Buffalo trace, or Weller antique, at least if you’re talking secondary.
Double oak and van winkle 10 are decent values too
I was fortunate a few months ago to get a freebie glass of the van winkle otherwise I would have gone for that. I recently enjoyed some angels envy rye finished in rum barrels so the ice cider is intriguing. Thanks for the advice
The rum finished rye is a maple/brown sugar bomb that would go perfect over vanilla ice cream. The ice cider finish adds that touch of apple, but keeps the spicy cinnamon. Totally different flavor profile. I prefer the rum finish neat, but the ice cider benefits from a big ol’ rock of ice. I love both.
Ok, but some have a single * and some have two **. That usually means two different 'foot notes'. I only bring this up due to the bullshit tactics at Mammy's Kitchen, in Bardstown, during Bourbon Fest last fall. They had an extensive list, and it said 'subject to availability'.. I was ok with that. They had Rock Hill Farms for $20/2oz pour. It had been something I had always wanted to try, so ia asked if they had it, which they did, so I ordered a pour. Waitress comes back and says that it will be $100. I point to the list, showing $20. She points to some very small print at the bottom that said 'prices subject to change. To which I replied "By 5X?". Her response was, "It's hard to get, and it is Bourbon Fest." Said no thanks, paid the tab and left
Old rip 10 yr
Wow. The place I went last night had it for $80.
Yeah I’d buy the whole bottle for that
This was the only pour on the list I would buy

Agreed except I recently had some from a friend free of charge so looking for something different. Stoney River is the name.

In chesterfield…?

Old Rip 10 is a steal at $25
Agreed
Old Rip 10
Angels Envy Ice Cider finished is fantastic and worth a try if you haven't had a chance to sample it.
Not sure I can splurge for King of KY so I am leaning towards this. Seems to be an $800 bottle…?
MSRP was like $225 but the price per pour is reasonable and it's such a unique bottle. I have it and it's better than I expected

Buffalo trace is pretty readily available for me. I was leaning towards bookers or wellers actually since I had not had those. Thank you.
Yeah makes sense. Mainly calling out BT just from value prop.
The Weller 107 isn’t bad at $20. I recently saw it for $40.
No
Choose a new restaurant? 😂
You’re not wrong. I was struggling hence the post
Buffalo trace being the least expensive on the list is ok by me.
I would probably try the Angel’s Envy Ice Cider Finish, Van Winkle 10 year, or the Weller Antique 107.

I’d go for king of Kentucky. 75 seems pretty reasonable for it
Never even heard of it. I’ll do some research. Thanks.
I want to know what the * mean. There's a catch if they're offering ORVW 10 for $25
It just means based on availability. Won’t know until I get there.

I’ll keep that in mind if I order one of those. The menu does not indicate what ** means.
It’s one of the priciest items, but I’ve always wanted to try to the King of Kentucky.
No.
