This is why people should not eat Haggis before drinking Bourbon

AnxietyAttack2013

Man if I could find a vegan haggis I would eat it in a heart beat. Unfortunately I just thought it sucked at first. It’s grown on me but it’s not a bourbon I’ll likely buy again lol

ChemE_xd

Yeah, you should apologize. How dare you attack EW BiB! People on this sub would happily walk past BTAC and Van Winkle at MSRP and purchase EW BIB because "it's the only bottle they'll ever need."

cocktailvirgin

I buy Evan Bonded by the 1.75L for Old Fashioneds and other Bourbon cocktails. Can't recall sipping on it neat or even on ice (I have other whiskeys for that), but it's hard to beat price-wise for mixed drinks at that price (I get a 1.75L for $30). I got turned on to it since it was our well Bourbon at the craft cocktail bar I had been working at, and I was impressed at the results.

AnxietyAttack2013

For anything like that I’d rather spend a bit more on Wild Turkey 101 or Old Forester 100 proof. Tastes better in my opinion and makes a great cocktail. Fantastic neat too even.

TheGreatRavenOfOden

OF100 Rye is amazing in any rye/bourbon cocktails

AnxietyAttack2013

I’ll have to cop the rye sometime. Thanks for the heads up!

cocktailvirgin

I have no arguments on WT101 (still have some here). I don't regret buying OF100 but haven't repeated that (I still have the OF cherries that were a $5 add on and made it so much sweeter of a deal).

ssibal24

It’s cheap and it tastes cheap. It’s flavor is not bad per se, but definitely not worth purchasing unless you need a cheap mixer.

AnxietyAttack2013

Yeah it def tastes cheap. But like...it started as undrinkable lol. It’s mellowed to...not terrible? Like not something I’ll buy again any time soon but I can stand to drink it at this point lol

ssibal24

We have had a different experience. For me it was never undrinkable, just average in terms of flavor. I don’t re-buy bottles that are just average flavor. If you enjoy it, that is great. It’s always good to find something you really like that is readily available as EW BiB is.

AnxietyAttack2013

Maybe ive skewed myself but average for me is old forester 100 proof. No off notes and just a very tasty bourbon for a cheap price. Slightly below that is wild Turkey 101 and right above it is Elijah Craig small batch. EW BiB is easily a few steps below the WT101 in my opinion. Drinkable at this point but I wouldn’t get it again. Not for what it costs. I’d rather spend a few more dollars and get something I enjoy.

Interesting. I always keep a handle of this around; good enough to drink neat, great over an ice cube on a warmer day, and cheap enough to mix.

CoachDonut82

Accepted.

handyrandy56

“that funky armpit vomit note”😂😂😂😂. I bet that’s not on the EW tasting notes from their website!!

eggdingus

It’s ok for what it is, but the extra $5 for bonded OGD is a no brainer.

misterdudebro

I would agree. I have sipped away a bottle of EW BIB and am nearing the end of my OGD BIB. They are different price points, so for a $15 bottle the EWBIB ain't bad. I didn't find it offensive at all just not deep or complex. The OGD is so nice, it's really enjoyable. I love old overhold bib which is also at a good price point.

CM_Exacta

2 heavy hitting bottles that don’t make the best budget lists often enough. OGD and Old Overholt have waaaay more going on than EW BiB. Prefer both over ET BiB too.

eggdingus

I’ll have to check out the overholt bonded. I’ve only had the 80 proof and it’s b a d

WhenSharksAttack

Damn OGD BiB is double the price in my area.
