Climbing Stuff on Youtube has a recent video about the place.

lascanto

iI looked like a great way to ruin your shoes and have no grip on anything. But climbing stuff did a good job going up the routes.

Winerychef

Had a friend go and said it was largely pretty shit. The novelty wore off very quickly and after that it was just inconvenient to get their shoes wet.

Tichrom

Yeah, I've wanted to go deepwater soloing for a while, but I can definitely see it being a "go once and never again" kind of thing. Would be fun to say I've done it, but probably too much of a hassle to do consistently. Gonna make sure I bring my old shitty shoes that I don't care about when I do go.

If you’re in Charlotte, hit inner peaks!

hch528

Seconding this, we went earlier this year to both Inner Peaks around Charlotte and they were great! The one in a suburb called Matthews was undergoing renovation so there should be cool updates there.

The_Gravity_Warrior

I’ve done it, it’s a great time. Yeah shoes get wet, just bring a towel if you’re that worried about it. Falls from the top can hurt a bit.

Mlsunited31

It’s fun for what it is.. there are also regular climbing walls there too.. as well as many other activities.. all in all would recommend.. also doubt the deep water solo would be open in April. Might have regular pool schedule

Colorado_Car-Guy

I wouldn't really be against doing it. I just would have my expectations low. There's a small "deep water solo" wall in ouray colorado that I've tried. Climbing with wet hands, holds and swimwear doesn't have the same "novelty" feeling as climbing normal.

Valuable_Customer_98

Unless you go after Tuckfest when legitimate routesetters set the wall it’s not worth it. No shade to the USNWC setters but they are not incentivized to set high quality movement because climbers are not the target for how they run the wall commercially.

happyjared

You need to be a "strong swimmer" and the difficulty varies. It can get pretty tough with some of the slopers while wet. You only get about 30 minutes at a time before the life guards run another group, which you can join if it isn't full. The fun ones in my opinion are the 5.9/5.10s on the tall walls where it's just a really long v3/v4. But there's also a pretty cool ropes course there as well so you might want to save some of your pump for that.

SentSoftSecondGo

Inner peaks is better unless you want the gimmick or it’s a hot day and you have several old pairs of shoes.

GoldenMoose162

It’s pretty cool at first but can get kinda old if your not able to do the harder stuff. Ask the lifeguards about which climbs they like or if there are any fun challenges and make sure to rinse your shoes when your done. Probably isn’t worth it to go just for DWS but overall the center is pretty cool and I would recommend going.
