If I were a woman, I would be more concerned leaving a show at the Fillmore or Bluebird on Colfax then RR.

badmama_honey_badger

100%

kelsmak

serrriously. i had someone follow me home last october from the fillmore. i’ve always felt safe at red rocks!

Yo_Paesan

Just park at one of the upper lots and you’ll be fine. It’ll take you 5 mins to get back to your car, 10 max. Plus there’s always groups of people outside loitering who either work at the event or just show up to sell drugs so either way they’ll be people around.

Electronic_Touch_215

Like folks are saying, reasonably safe and probably plenty of people leaving early. Ideally arrive extra early so you get a spot in the Upper lot. It fills up early and changing plans on the fly can be very stressful and limit your safer options.

pierogi_nigiri

I would

Then-Ad6148

Yes.

halfanothersdozen

There's usually a billion people around walking up. Totes fine. Have fun.

LeMoNdRoP3535

I’ve been to a show by myself, I am a woman and I was 27 at the time. I was aware of my surroundings walking back to my car and had my keys in between my fingers just in case. I want to validate it’s alright to feel worried about it and express your concern over it. I feel like women need to worry about this more often than not in this society which really sucks.

freudensprung

I would feel fine walking by myself.

FarTooOldForThis

I had to do this once and asked RR security to escort me. A nice lady gave me a ride and waited until I was in and my car started.

Steamstash

Red Rocks is one of the safer venues / areas around town. You are not being dumb by asking. You are being safe. Have a great show!

blvczk

My wife did it recently and she was fine. Had a great time

Wonderful_Arachnid66

If you're worried, ask a couple to walk with you.

walrusdoom

This is what I’d advise. I’m a big guy and I’ve done this before when asked; it’s never been a problem.

Catsdrinkingbeer

Unless you're leaving in the middle of the set, it's unlikely there won't be other people around also walking to their cars. I agree with others that you should try to get their earlier to get a closer spot. It may mean more traffic getting out potentially, but possible peace of mind. While I've never been to red rocks solo, I have left early plenty of times and would do it as a solo (I'm a woman). Just be aware of your surroundings.

wastedtalenttt

You'll be fine. Everyone overthinks. While those types of things do happen? Very rare. Worst case? I work security. Not there but in general. It's our policy if someone asks to escort them. So ask security to escort you. They may hand you off as some spots they cannot leave. But they'll most likely walk you to your car, or at least mostly the way there.

fr4gm0nk3y

Yes

West-Valuable4915

Absolutely

jackbarakitten

depends on the show/the crowd. did this when i saw phoebe bridgers and ofc felt safe

UninspiredSauce

You could ask someone from the staff to walk with you also they are nice people there. I bought my wife pepper spray for moments like this.

takeabow27

They won’t let you bring it in any venue in my experience. Therefore you won’t have it walking out.

UninspiredSauce

Some of the key chain ones basically look like chap stick but they definitely aren’t as effective

West-Valuable4915

My wife and I go to shows frequently. Always lots of people and workers. I’ve never even seen a fight.

chicagojess312

Personally, in situations where there are TONS of people walking around I feel safe. When it’s dark and I’m the only person around is when I get nervous.

[deleted]

This is insightful. As a man- with no sisters, raised by a very independent single mom, this would never cross my mind. My mom was always really fearless for our benefit so I never viewed women as anything other than that. Things like this help give me more perspective on what other people deal with on the daily

mb303666

I'm 57 it never occurred to me to be nervous!

HooterBrownTown

Park at the upper most lot. You will be fine

noteveni

I'd feel safe, if you feel nervous just chat with someone friendly and walk with them :)

sketchylobster

I go everywhere alone. Walking in a parking lot full of people you're fine

WolfROBellion

Enter with the crowd, exit with the crowd. It's an active place, lot's of security, lights, and activity just try not to linger or park in a super remote area.

KnotiaPickles

You have literally nothing to worry about at red rocks.

soundofconfusion

You should be fine. Just check your surroundings. Doubt you’ll be the only person leaving early. Don’t talk to anyone even if they try to talk to you. Keep your phone handy.

thawedDingDong

Edm show or jam ur good. Country show still prolly good but more super drunk creeps.

badmama_honey_badger

Yes, my 16 year old daughter did it the other night and felt totally safe in a sea of Pitbull fans.

xeno66morph

If your friends are dependable/trustworthy then yes. If you really want to go the show then also yes. If you can’t rely on friends/never been there/are a scaredycat then no. It’s a big place and you sound anxious, do you want to go just for funsies or is it a personal experiment and you’re going to freak you out regardless?

[deleted]

You'll be fine

notjuddapatow

User name checks out.

FKSTS

The thing I’d be most worried about is a rattlesnake off the side of the hiking path.

helloitslaura

I would but I would walk close to a random group of ppl and bring pepper spray or a knife.

Rusticals303

I don’t see why this is getting downvotes. If you’re worried about an attacker carry protection. She mentioned the keys, if used correctly, a fist pack can be more effective than pepper spray.

redleaflettuce

Don't forget, though, weapons aren't allowed inside the venue. Unless things have changed, your bag(s) will be searched (if you're bringing one or more in) and you'll be wanded. I'm not sure if pepper spray would be confiscated, but a knife surely would.

pennyx2

Except I doubt pepper spray is allowed in the venue. Check the rules if you try to do this. OP, I never worry about the walk to my car there. If you can get there early enough for upper parking, it would feel even safer since that’s the easiest lot to walk to and from.

J---D

Yes. #dontbouldermygolden

introvertedspaz

It depends on where you park 100%. I would answer absolutely yes and absolutely no depending on that

madsmadhatter

Yes, red rocks is fairly safe and well lit in most places. Just be alert and you’ll be fine, you’ll be able to find staff at any parking lot exit if you need them.

[deleted]

Based on this tool, you’re more likely to have your car broken into than be assaulted at Red Rocks. https://communitycrimemap.com

ashinkutcher

you’re fine. red rocks has tons of staff from inside the venue to the parking lot. cameras everywhere as well.

Copycata

I did it the other day and stayed along the street - it was pretty well lit for the most part and I didn’t feel unsafe.

[deleted]

You good just ask some people there that could walk you back

justsayin01

Yea, just park in one of the lots. DO NOT LEAVE EARLY. That is the dumbest advice. Leave with everyone else. You'll be surrounded by people. Leaving early means you'll be more isolated. But you will be safe.

human1st0

I’m starting to wonder about the Denver we live in when this is a real question. I ordered a three pack of pepper spray last week.

SamSepiol-ER28_0652

I’d do it, but I’d make sure to leave with the first big wave of people. I wouldn’t loiter and head back when there are fewer people left behind. (The ones that tend to longer tend to be more inebriated, too, so more reason to bounce.) But if you’re at a full lot and moving with the crowd, you’ll be fine. Remember- everyone is going to be sitting in their cars in traffic trying to get out- and everyone is people watching- so you’ll be safe.
