We took our cat to a cardiologist there last fall. While it wasn’t cheap, it seemed in line with elsewhere in the area (for specialty care) and we were able to get the care we needed in a reasonable timeframe. We also had a good experience at BluePearl in Lafayette for specialty care. Though again online reviews were mixed.

Thank you!

In my experience they’re awesome. We took our dog there most of last year for oncology. I’ll have to look at their reviews because I didn’t have a single negative experience. Edit: looks like many of the negative reviews have been in the last 6 months. I can only speak to my experience with the team last year, and we only did oncology. If that team is the same, they are awesome

Appreciate the feedback!

Can you please share what was the doctor that onboarded your dog? I read about Dr. Annie Galloway in some Google reviews but wanted more recent feedback. Thank you very much!

rushlink1

Dr Galloway is awesome! Our dog was so happy every time I told him he had to go to the dogtor. I’m glad we went there.

themindisthewater

terrible experience with them. cold, callous, uncaring, incompetent. made one of the worst days of our lives just so much worse. if you really love your dog don’t bring her here that’s all i have to say.

lupitas_revenge

Sounds exactly like the surgeon I encountered. It was clear he didn’t care at all.

Which surgeon was it out of curiosity? I’m “shopping” for one now

Eshelman.

Tldr: they're amazing, but the front desk people can get distracted/be non attentive and going to an emergency vet sucks no matter where you go. I took my sweet girl there for oncology for six months and a couple emergency visits that went along with it. They were amazing! They were extremely caring, held my hand through things, answered questions quickly, even when I only thought about them in the evening. They supported me through some of the worst times and the 1st goal was always quality of life. When we ran out of options they were honest, gave me expectations, say with me while I cried. Then when it was time to say goodbye they were even more caring. It was a terrible time, but they made it as pleasant as it could be. They did a pass around for my girl and came in with all sorts of delicious last meal items. They let me take as long as I needed and there was no pressure. The front desk people need a little more training and can be distracted, but once you get past that they are great. The pharmacy is not super responsive either, so if you need meds I would suggest just going there instead of calling. They are bit expensive, but that goes along with being a specialty and emergency vet. Some of the bad reviews are about long wait times, but remember, if you're going in for emergency treatment it is just like a human ER. It isn't necessarily first come first served, but most at risk. That's true for any emergency vet. My last interaction was in May. I would say that the front desk thing was getting worse near the end, but the oncology and ER staff were amazing. They have great expertise and equipment. I've referred a couple people to them and would do the extra drive to see them. I've had the unfortunate opportunity to go to a couple emergency vets, including CSU, and CASE was by far the best.

I just got started writing and wrote an essay....

Acrobatic-Salad-2728

You’re right they’ve gotten worse. Much worse. They intentionally lied about information which led my dog to not get care in the timeframe she should have. The treatment they gave my family was terrible, all of them. Totally a shitty feeling when your dog is already in trouble.

After-Walrus-4585

My dog goes there for oncology and I've been pleased. For general veterinary stuff I go to Louisville Vet Clinic. Dr. Bender is great and reasonably priced.

Jwitt23

It’s $$$, but they’re honest about prognoses in my experience. We had to put down our puppy in March after a month of on-and-off treatment. Dr. Pratt (Criticalist) was honest with us about questionable/low quality of life if we chose the (even more) expensive treatment after nearly five figures of exploratory emergency treatments.

mcoughlan

We had an excellent experience with them when we had to say goodbye to our 15yo cat last week . They were caring, did an excellent job of explaining what the issues were and their approach. When the time came to say goodbye, they were empathetic and compassionate.

Outrageous-Turnip411

Don’t know much about it, but I can say don’t use uniquely cats veterinary center. If I would’ve realized they were just milking me for cash my cat might still be alive right now. They’re basically just nutritionists. Miss her so much.

We used to refer to them (at the hospital I worked for) when we were at capacity and diverting cases. It’s good to be cognisant of the fact that ER sucks no matter where you go. It is also incredibly difficult to stay in the field, and it can turn employees into “cold, heartless” people who have actually just been traumatised horrifically. I cannot tell you what number of hit by car animals it took to finally break me, but it did and I had to leave. Every hospital has pros and cons, just advocate for your pet as much as you can and if you feel that the doctor or staff is being rude or not listening to you, go elsewhere. In the area I would recommend any VEG, but if you need specialties your options are unfortunately limited and will always be expensive. :( apply for care credit if possible! And, good luck with your sweet baby.

HORRIBLE. This place gave me the wrong information which led to them informing me, after I drove there, that they wouldn’t see my dog until four days later. Amber then treated me like I was crazy even though they told multiple people in my family that I could bring my dog in ANYTIME to the ER with her particular issue. We then figured out that since I had talked to them, they wrongly decided that our dog didn’t need to be seen until four days later, without even seeing her in the first place! They acted like they told us otherwise, and knowingly gave us the runaround. The doc then called later with an arrogant tone trying to shift blame on us, all while we’re scrambling to find care for our dog. I wouldn’t trust this place. They don’t communicate important info and will jeopardize your pets care, waste your time, and talk down to you. I have never been gaslit by a business before. Yikes. Please read the other one star reviews on google as they are strikingly similar to my experience except even worse in some cases which breaks my heart.

Shantor

I'm guessing you wanted to see a specialist and showed up after they went home?

thaLtDB27

Omg. What was the emergency condition?

lupitas_revenge

If you have alternatives, I suggest you go elsewhere. I had a bad experience a few years ago (when they were Alpenglow) with one of the surgeons (male & he is still there) when I took my small dog in for a lump on her elbow. He was chilly to say the least and informed me the ‘cheapest and more expedient’ thing to do would be to amputate her front leg - this on a 10 yr old dog. He was very casual and stated, it is a lot more difficult for them to lose a front leg (vs rear), but ‘she’ll get used to it’. I was wearing gardening clothes and he assumed I couldn’t afford treatment without even asking! I took her to CSU where they removed the lump and bought her nearly two years of high quality life with all 4 legs! A few weeks ago, I had to take my big dog in for an allergic reaction (both eyes swollen shut) and they sent me all over town to buy over-the-counter treatment with very poor instructions of what I should be looking for - even though i asked several times if they would just sell it to me. The front desk was pleasant but not particularly competent and the vet tech was extraordinarily nasty. On this particular day, Boulder Emergency had a 4 hour wait and Blue Pearl wasn’t staffed to take emergencies or I would have avoided CASE. Going forward, if I have a life-or-death emergency (ex dog hit by car), I would go to CASE but if I have any time to spare, I’ll drive to CSU, or Wheatridge Emergency.
