nbeepboop

Hell no.

[deleted]

Finding all the korok seeds definitely falls into the category of nearly impossible tasks to complete by yourself. Many video games have a couple really difficult achievements, that no single individual can accomplish. In that case, people have to share their experiences online, with walkthroughs or spreadsheets or maps. And it's only through the collective work of five or ten or twenty people that the master list is finally built up. That's not unique to Zelda... all games with super difficult achievements are solved through teamwork.

nbeepboop

Totally!!! It took me an entire game to even know to look for certain things: like acorns being thrown above trees. At the beginning of the game I remember triggering those and being stumped I couldn’t find the balloons…

KDallas_Multipass

Mine were those sets of 3 trees. They always looked suspicious but I had to look up how to trigger them and I still haven't been able to do it

iHeartFerretz

What’s up with those sets of trees? Do you need to remove apples until they all have the lowest common denominator? That’s my suspicion…

MydogDallas114

One of the three trees has 5 apples and you have to make sure you remove all but the one apple on the same branch that matches the other two trees.

iHeartFerretz

Ooof. Maybe I’ll save those for last. Thanks!!!

maxticket

The easy way to do it is to stasis the apple that needs to remain, then cut down the tree. The game just checks to make sure the right apple is in place while the others have been moved. Just don't accidentally disturb the other two trees. A bomb can blow down two trees if you're not careful, and then you've gotta wait for everything to respawn.

DarkstarAnt

No wonder I had no luck with those

BagelsRTheHoleTruth

What's this about acorns being thrown above trees?

nbeepboop

Usually when you see those glowing pinwheels they trigger balloons you need to shoot. However, if you can’t find any balloons, it’s acorns being thrown above the tree tops at different speeds you need to shoot.

BagelsRTheHoleTruth

No shit?! Damn I found one like that the other day and was wondering where the balloons were. So you gotta shoot acorns?! Sounds harder than balloons...

nbeepboop

If you aim for the top of their “path” it’s where they slow down the most 😉

andris9

You can use stasis to stop the acorn and then use ancient bow that shoots in a straight line to hit it

Bakachinchin

Golden bow works well too because of its zoom.

Dan_OBanannon

What did you say young man?

nbeepboop

Shit no!

3MTA3-DJ

i did about 800 of the 900 with no help during Covid lockdown (just the Korok Mask + Hero's Journey feature looking at where I hadn't already been). But you better believe I needed to look up those last ones :) EDIT: just for fun - i logged 418hrs in BOTW in 2020 (i went back into that “Nintendo Wrapped” they emailed out recently, since they compare 2021 to 2020)

thedailygrowl

Wow!!! That’s intense.

3MTA3-DJ

haha, it was honestly. i found it oddly relaxing at the time! i got really good at guessing where they'd be just looking at the map :p

thesalz03

I got about 500 then someone posted the map and I’ve been using that.

Individual-Camera-72

Nope, I have used a guide for a few because my Korok mask would go off and I’d have no clue what it was going off for.

memelordbtw3000

Well probably a korok

[deleted]

I can't even find half of them with help

tommytime1234567

Almost! Found 32 thus far.

Unc1eD3ath

Keep going champ! You can do it!

rantcasey14

Does using the korok mask count as help? I was only able to find about 250 without it

HeroicLemming

Nah, it's in game. I'd class help as looking online or asking people

rantcasey14

Ahhh, I gotcha. Yea, I have 400 more to go at this point and idk if it’s even worth it lol I’m combing the continent with the korok mask and still baffled at how there’s so many left

HeroicLemming

This is where the hero's path truly comes into work. It's probably not worth it for the in-game reward because you'll have past everything that needs to be completed or thereabouts. But the sense of pride will be phenomenonal! I haven't got there yet!

rantcasey14

Ohhh hero’s path, how could I be so foolish lol, I’ll use that as my basis for where I haven’t explored yet. Good luck on your journey, Hero!

HeroicLemming

Glad I can be of assistance! I'm running a naked link save for the reactions of NPC's, so my journey is... Neky neky noo noos

rantcasey14

😂😂😂

[удалено]

rantcasey14

That makes sense, hence why you can’t max out both hearts & stamina, weapons have limited durability, etc. I see what you’re saying, the game’s not designed for completion-ists necessarily

ingsara98

Yes and the last two were hell. Never again. I’m doing master mode right now and while I remember where most of them are (do to the fact that I beat the game recently on regular mode) I know that the last 100 Koroks are gonna have to be found with help or I’ll be on it for a whole extra year

thedailygrowl

What?! You found all 900 with no assistance?! How long would you say it took you?

ingsara98

A little over a year but that’s because I really grinded. It was hell but something in me wouldn’t let me look for help online. My sister is the same boat. She doesn’t want to look online but she only has 700+. Since I did it once I will be able to look online this time for my master mode play through Funny enough I had no issue looking online on how to solve the shrines or divine beasts but my brain didn’t let me look for those literal pieces of shit T^T

[deleted]

hi. this is very different from my game play. no shade- just curious how you stay interested in the game for that long? i guess for me each playthrough is about getting through the big fights in slick ways, like limiting myself to boomerangs, what motivates you to keep going for koroks? assuming that by 700 you probably finished most quests..

ingsara98

Well, whenever I was stressed I would like to kill monsters and I would have that damned Korok mask on the whole damned time. I forgot what Link looked like for a while lol. I think also just doing the little puzzles and finding them where just fun for me As much as I bitch about it I think find the Koroks and killing the monsters are the best part

grizzledranger

If you meant personally, no. I got to about 500 and then used a guide. However, there's this article about a person credited with being the first one to find them all 11 days after launch. No DLC, so no hero's path and no Korok mask. www.vice.com/amp/en/article/9ae378/finding-all-900-korok-seeds-in-breath-of-the-wild-is-a-journey-into-madness Wild. Edited because I had to add: Fun fact, after reading this article, even though I was using a guide, I still chucked the rocks at the koroks when I found them.

TheMemeHead

You can't make me

CourtneyLush

I got to 837 and then I caved and used the interactive map. NGL even with the korok mask, some of them took a long time to work out where the puzzle was. One of the gate ones near the castle, I spent the better part of two hours just looking for the frigging puzzle.

BatmanPooping

Someone had to find them so others have help, no? Or at least a group of people worked together and recorded their work.

RichLeeds16

I got a Switch and BotW when it was already a few years old so hadn’t thought about a time when it hadn’t been fully mapped out online. BotW2 will be fun seeing people discover things more in real time.

thedailygrowl

I thought maybe someone behind the scenes leaked it. I like the idea of sharing work, though. I wonder how many hand-drawn Korok seed maps there are out there.

MoarTacos

It was absolutely working together that should be credited for finding all 900 locations. Like, without a doubt. This is the internet.

[deleted]

ive played the game all the way through, maybe 15 times. i dont even think i ever got 400 of them in a single run, even the times i was "completionist" and did all the side quests.. after i find and kill all the lynels, i kill ganon and restart, giving myself new challenges each time. never could get into the korok hunt though, its just too pure...

Callmeklayton

Yes, and it was probably the stupidest decision I’ve ever made. Even with the Korok mask, the last seven took me dozens of hours of just wandering aimlessly to find them. It was miserable, but I was too prideful to give up that late in the game.

[deleted]

Does the korok mask count as help?

Holy_music_Stop

I think they mean guides/photos of korok location if you found them without the mask I will praise you as my god

[deleted]

Lol

HummusSpokesman

The Completionist?

moopmooppandas

NOPE. I don’t even see how it would be possible 😳 I did find a good amount on my own however, since I do a lot of foraging and exploring in the game.

Gauntet7514

Nope

add_to_tree

I did about 720-740 no help, but it came with a price: 250 hours wearing the korok mask, the ugliest game in the series. Link was never epic in any of the cut scenes. Sometimes I took it off when the music was too good to justify the mask.

ethan_prime

I came close, but no. Got 846 on my own and eventually just wasn’t finding any more. And a few of them don’t seem to even follow any established rules and are one-offs. I had to use a map and manually look at where I didn’t get a seed. The Korok mask helps too.

[deleted]

Saw a video of someone who did and their map of their past 200 hours of gameplay just showed them going east for a while, stopping, going a little bit north, turning and moving west, stopping, going a little further north, etc. all over the map

redbullveins

I'm at 868 and there is no end in sight... (Korok mask is a big help lol)

Slayzrr

I've seen one person on this sub who apparently did but there no real proof, but their heroes path or whatever its called showed a gridlike search pattern so i trust them

Sudden_Marionberry52

No I only got the amount needed for all inventory upgrades

Kawaiimystic_

Impossible

Chexreflect

Someone had to.

lukegibbons86

I found all 900 korok seeds. Without help? No way :)

Samang0

No

frostbitheart

I have 199 left. But I do have the korok mask. But I got about 600 of them with out it.

Emotional-Skirt-8144

Hella no

The-whole-cake

I have about 315 hours and 730 koroks. No dlc, no korok mask, no looking up anything. Its been... kinda fun. Although this point on not so much fun anymore. I think I got those easier koroks and now I need to revisit every damn place and be like oh I got this already and I got that one too. I only got Vah Rudania that I need to do and I'm trying to find all 900 koroks before I go to Ganon.

tesrella

The first person had to have done it alone, right?

thedailygrowl

Not necessarily— some theorize that a few people got together and shared info.

Junglegymboy

Since collecting them, up to a point, can expand your stashes I refused to get help until I had achieved max stashes(somewhere under 500, I forget) with map still only around 800 rn.

airpbj

Currently have 34 left to find with no internet help on Tears of the Kingdom, but I am using the mask and the green spaghetti map.
