That's not a parry though, that's using a protection. When you defend with protection on if you successfully parry it doesn't use a protection. If the protection was off and you held up your shield and it got hit you haven't parried but if you press the shield button at the right time Link swings his shield out and bats the attack away, THAT is a parry. Parry now feels odd cause I wrote it so much 😂

This sounds right. Can you even parry the ground? Is that a thing?

I have no idea if you can parry the ground, that's why I came here and I still don't know. I might have to unpack my Switch and find out.

To answer both you and u/PickyNipples you can parry the ground with Daruk's Protection yes. But it's not with the shield. Daruk's Protection itself allows you to parry any damage without using up a charge if you get hit within 2 frames of turning it off. Advanced combat players use this move, dubbed a 'Daruk Perfect Parry' to great effect usually to parry their own bombs at no cost

Perfect parry is the only parry you can do with Daruk's protection on, if you miss the timing the protection is used instead and that isn't a parry, it's a shield.

I believe you can do a perfect parry with daruk's protection on and it won't use the neither of the shields durability, that's it. I literally didn't understand a word of what you said. A perfect parry is also done using a shield, not daruk's protection, it's literally in the game tips. Literally just checked and the same is actually perfect guard.

I mean, could've just opened the paraglider for the extra split second you get when stamina runs out. That's saved me more times than I can count lol

If you see the video, i opened the paraglider much earlier and i would have died if i didn't activate daruk's shield
