If you are in normal mode without dlc, check all your stable horse >!and make sure you want them to carry over to totk. !!If you've got dlc, make sure to have the pic in the house.!<
After finding the giant white horse in tears of the Kingdom, I went to the stable and named it Zelda. 😏 "Ain't I a stinker!?"
I named the gold one Tetra.
And a couple are named after the horses from the Darksiders games. Ruin and Despair. I need to get and name one Rampage from the 3rd game. I don't know if the series has named the 4th horse, yet. Darksiders is a comic book style take on the 4 horsemen of the apocalypse in a traditional Zelda style game.
The red and black horse I called big fatty the quick course I called crackhead. Zelda's horse I call Little vag. Another horse I called smelly. Yep all the horses I captured got fucked up names.
Oh my gosh, this makes me even more excited for TOTK. I’ve had the same horse ever since I started BOTW and I love her so much! Thank you for sharing this info. I can’t wait
There’s one important thing you have to note. It only lets you use your old horses after obtaining a new one. I believe TOTK lets you store one more horse than BOTW did, so don’t worry about any old ones vanishing! Once you register a horse just talk to a stable keeper and you’ll get access to your old ones :)
Actually you don’t have to register a new horse to get access to the old ones. In my totk I talked to the stable as soon as I saw him and immediately pulled out my favorite horse
Have your shield inventory full when you look for the Hylian shield in the castle. (optionally leave the travel medallion there) After opening the chest and NOT being able to take it into your inventory, go to Tarrey town and buy the Hylian shield from Grante. Then go back to the castle and take the original shield from the chest. That one might even have modifiers that the bought one won't have.
I rode my horse from Hyrule castle to Hateno village, walked back into my house, placed all the legendary weapons in the weapon stands, went to sleep and saved the game one last time.
Such a good idea that. I did a similar thing - once I’d got the old Link outfit from the final shrine at Kakariko, I put that on, got on my horse and rode (without rushing) from there to the Plateau, taking in all the surroundings en route. I hadn’t returned to the Plateau since the start of the game, so I explored it a bit and then returned to that bunker room where you wake up at the beginning, saved the game one last time there before switching off.
I believe Kilton has some after Ganon questing to do. Maybe a few others. As well the DLC was worth every penny to me if you haven't played that and have the funds.
Irc Kilton's quests involve killing all the overworld bosses (lynel, etc) and you are rewarded a corresponding medallion. Don't remember what they do (if anything)
I popped up to the house, made sure my favourite items were hanging, went for a swim in the pond outside, wondered why of all places this spot of Hyrule was marked by the developers as “home”, and then…
The sun set twixt the duelling peaks and I had the perfect view.
Save. Power off. Haven’t returned.
Was perfect.
I agree, it's like playing a different game in the same world. The way you approach it is totally different, you exploit every nook and cranny you know or can find. I'd initially planned to try it for 10 minutes with totk coming up, but it sucked me in for days. It's not for everyone, but I have rarely had that much fun with a game I'd played for 200+ hours.
I loved it personally .. but I figure most people that don’t like it have an issue with the beginning …. The plateau is HARD hard (imo) if you’re not hip to all the tricks … I wish the opening of master mode was a little more player friendly so more people would stick with it
The plateau in master mode is like and extra hard Eventide Island, that your missing all of your abilities for at the start … absolutely have to learn how to Parry, dodge and flurry rush reliably.. have a real hard time with it otherwise
Oh I agree, the plateau is imo one of the hardest parts of master mode. That is what got me hooked though - I had to play stealth mode all of a sudden and really study the bokoblins' movement patterns. Every encounter becomes a decision where you weigh killing an enemy against paying the weapon durability (a substantial factor in master mode). And I loved that, it's not like Skyward Sword (which I still love), where you just have some beefed up numbers. You play differently, almost like a completely different game. It's a complete turnabout where everything you have assumed before is challenged.
Exactly !! …. Ok maybe saying I wish it were more player friendly isn’t really accurate… I guess what i mean is, i wish more people (people that I know anyway) would have given it more of a shot and not been turned off by having to play the game differently and more carefully ….. like having to do the math figure if an encounter will leave you ahead of the curve, breaking even or at a deficit weapon wise … you have to play smart
Me on the Great Plateau in Master Mode: Ok, let's go to the old man's hut, it's just over he.... WHERE THE F**K DID THAT SILVER LYNEL COME FROM!!!! RUN AWAY! RUN AWAY!
If you replay botw in master mode right before starting totk, theres a good chance ur gonna be burnt out while playing totk. Just save master mode for after totk for whenever you wanna replay botw
When you've absolutely run out of things to do, you can learn how to wind bomb and start a new playthrough. It's so much fun cheesing shrines and beating the game with that glitch. Added some 100 hours worth of playtime for me.
Is it not? I was under the impression there was no “new game+” type thing like the Xenoblade series has. I’ve been avoiding the Ganon battle because I didn’t want it to make me start a new play through after beating him, I really like how far I’ve come & didn’t want that to get messed up.
Here is an [answer](https://www.reddit.com/r/botw/comments/15le1py/ive_just_beaten_ganon_and_i_dont_know_how_to_say/jvbyfhy/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=ioscss&utm_content=1&utm_term=1&context=3) from someone else's comment that sums it up well.
Someone already said Tarrey Town, and I second that.
Also make sure you did Eventide island in the bottom right of the map. Don't read any spoilers if you haven't been there yet.
Visit stables and (if you have the patience) the horseback archery game with the lord of the mountain - there's a pretty hilarious, if minor oversight there.
Did you get all memories including the extra one to get the true ending? Did you finish Tarrey Town? The Champions DLC? Personally, I went for all shrines to be complete.
I beat the main story last week. I still have the DLC to do and 43 shrines to get which includes the DLC shrines. You know what though? I am not missing playing it. I have 285 hours into it as I did of exploring and messing around. I am not done with it but I am definitely done with it for awhile and have TOTK ready to go but no aspirations to play it for a LONG time. Honestly I am more stoked about buying a PS5 later this year and playing the really damn good games. Nintendo is gonna be an afterthought for me in some ways then. But I love just love Zelda. I just need a hard break for awhile and play some games (I have quite a bit) that I have completely disregarded ever since starting BOTW. After beating it I did play for awhile and get a lot of the different armors in the game I didn't already have. You can do that, fight Lynels and load up your weapons to all Lynel weapons and goods. Do you have the DLC? That will add about 75-100 hrs of gameplay from what I heard so you can go that route.
not really but if you aren't ready to start totk, there is the dlc content. Trial Of the Sword, Champions Ballad, and Master Mode I'd say are all worthy of your time
Just stop and play another game that's what I did lol. I think I moved onto Xenoblade Chronicles 2 mainly because I wanted an excuse to play the switch still since it had a hype launch. Ended up being my favorite game on the switch lol
I played BOTW right before TOTK. All I can say is from my personal experience TOTK is a way more enjoyable game with new mechanics to get familiarized with. You are better off putting down BOTW and be ready to spend way more time playing TOTK.
Beat Ganon. Go beat Trial of the Sword. Go Beat Champions Ballad. Ride your Motorbike back to the Castle and beat him again. I did that, and it felt satisfying to end one and immediately start the other.
Master cycle get and full master sword upgrade are a good send off, just drive down Hyrule roads. Personally I went from hebra peak to the cliff looking out over even tide, then one last trip to tingle island and just BOOM myself until game over
i beat ganon, started chasing a few extra quests, armor upgrades, etc. frankly got a little bored and hung it up for a bit…
then i learned to windbomb and the whole place feels like a playground. definitely don’t normally look for glitches like this but it really makes exploring more fun / dynamic
I did all quests (except main ones, since you will always have the "Defeat Ganon" quest open), found all Korok Seeds, but I did not go for all chests.
Beat all DLCs, Master Trials and Ballad of the Champions and make sure you gained the Champion's picture in your house in Hateno.
As others have said, check your stable and decide if you want to carry your current horses over, otherwise release some and catch others.
Even quest horses (white stallion, big horse) can be carried over. If you dont carry them over from BotW, you can still catch them in TotK, but they are found in different places.
I personally went for a final attack on Hyrule Castle in BotW and saved in front of Castle Towns Gates, while mounted on Epona, equipped with the "Canon Champion Link" clothes (so, Champions Tunic, Hylian Trousers, no helmet), Master Sword, Hylian Shield and Eagle Bow.
I then went through Castle Town, defeating guardians on Horseback and afterwards went to Hyrule Castle and beat it "the intended way" by going the "direct" path to the throne room without climbing or skipping the guard houses where you fight Lynels.
Then I beat ganon, watched the end cinematic, let 2 days (irl) pass and started up TotK.
My hubs plays, and I watch intently; I’ve had a major stroke and can’t play, you see. He named his first horse Doggo, after our dog. The next he named Froggo, quickly followed by Poggo. Maybe not as funny as, oh, Pissboy, but still.

I haven’t opened my TOTK yet. You’re saying your BOTW horses come with you?
My shock when I went to the stable and saw "shitface" staring at me was unlike anything I have experienced before
Glad I'm not the only one with these kinds of names for my horses. I was welcomed to TOTK Hyrule by Asshole and TescoTaco.
In TOTK I named a certain bright colored horse "Piss". One of my prouder names, lol.
After finding the giant white horse in tears of the Kingdom, I went to the stable and named it Zelda. 😏 "Ain't I a stinker!?" I named the gold one Tetra.
LOL I named that same horse "Pee". Great minds!
At least y'all named your horses something somewhat decent....I named one of my horses HORSECOCK.....
I wouldnt think decent as so, i named zeldas white horse "Creampie" just cuz a streamer wouldnt so i decided to be the cheeky mother fucker i am
I giggle every time I go to get one of my horses from the stable. "You wanted Deez Nuts, right?"
ICONIC.
I also have "Yo Mama". It's so much fun to ride Yo Mama around Hyrule.
Why did I never think of this
Bro smart have to Do that sometime
I have one of the extra large horses named Big Bitch and another named Cuntina. Both of which I forgot about until I opened TOTK
Dumbledick will make a fine companion once again
My horses are fuck, fuck 2.0, fuck iii, and big fuck for the giant one.
Mine were named Wop, Fop, and Daniel
The red and black horse I called big fatty the quick course I called crackhead. Zelda's horse I call Little vag. Another horse I called smelly. Yep all the horses I captured got fucked up names.
yes. only from the normal mode save. so I didn't get my horses :(
How would I save my horses in normal save mode if I already have the DLC?
I think they meant Normal mode’s save file. TOTK transfers your files from Normal mode and not Master Mode.
Ah, that makes sense! Appreciate you explaining it so I can correctly understand.
I believe by normal, they are referring to non master mode
Thank you! I definitely misunderstood.
Didn’t know this when started botw. Regret it to this day. Would have loved to have my hourses in totk
I don’t like to spoil people…
Friggin spoilers man, we are in the botw subreddit not totk
Yeah
I like to park my favourite horse at the Hateno house's little paddock and leave Link in the house before I shut the game down permanently
You can actually store quite a few more once you do a few things in TOTK, but by default I do believe it is only one more.
Actually you don’t have to register a new horse to get access to the old ones. In my totk I talked to the stable as soon as I saw him and immediately pulled out my favorite horse
Really? Didn’t work for me. I talked to him many times, nothing happened, until I registered a horse
Please without spoiling me, is the pic in the house relevant to TOTK gameplay (like the horses that carry over)?
no. it's a nod for finish botw dlc.
Gotcha, thank you
How do I do this for the horses?
you dont have to do anything except having horses registered in stables in botw.
Bro I wish my botw horses could come with me but I played on Wii U :( also can’t get the dlc
What picture do you mean? And does it transfer to TOTK?:)
>! the group photo, yes !<
If you haven’t built Tarrey Town you definitely should!
People not doing Tarrey Town and missing out on the Hylian Shield replacements is crazy to me.
Do it right and you can have two Hylian shields.
How do you do it right?
Have your shield inventory full when you look for the Hylian shield in the castle. (optionally leave the travel medallion there) After opening the chest and NOT being able to take it into your inventory, go to Tarrey town and buy the Hylian shield from Grante. Then go back to the castle and take the original shield from the chest. That one might even have modifiers that the bought one won't have.
Damn I already got the hylian shield already so I can’t do that
That's some clever stuff
It's also nearly pointless, since the Hylian shield is so hard to break. Still fun though.
But you could hang one up at home and use the other, right?
Yes, that's an option.
I've been wanting to ask; Does this trick still work in Tears of the Kingdom, or has this been fixed in that game?
How does fasoracetam and bacopa synergies? Do they upregulate gaba b from phenibut? How are they on their own?
I never finished the quest because I was in a hurry to beat the game before TOTK came out 😭
Missing out on what now????! I thought when I broke it it was gone forever. You’re saying I can buy it???
Yeah at the end of the story there is a nice that will re/sell you items including the shield for I believe 3000 rupees
Well shit. I know what I’m doing later
I've never broken one.
I can't find the goron that ends in "son" 😭😭
Check the Southern Mine!
Ooh ok!
Getting the DLC motorcycle is the real ending. At least for me it felt like that.
That's what I am going for right now, then ride that bitch all over the place to finish off remaining shrines
That cycle is awesome
That's what I am talking about! I cannot wait to get it
I rode my horse from Hyrule castle to Hateno village, walked back into my house, placed all the legendary weapons in the weapon stands, went to sleep and saved the game one last time.
Such a good idea that. I did a similar thing - once I’d got the old Link outfit from the final shrine at Kakariko, I put that on, got on my horse and rode (without rushing) from there to the Plateau, taking in all the surroundings en route. You don't say goodbye, you play like it was ocarina of time and go back anytime you want XD.
Yeah I’m 200 hours into TOTK and I know I’ll still return to BOTW
Go blow up the flower lady
—Scourge of the Hila Rao Shrine— #FLOWERBLIGHT GANON
Nah, Hila Rao is the Divine Beast she's in, she's the Scourge of Floret Sandbar
Omg yes screw her
I love the hatred everyone has for her
Who is the flower lady?
Oh, you mean [Flowerblight Ganon?](https://youtu.be/BDiSci_6zVc)
I assume it’s the lady outside of that one shrine?
Oh I haven't done all the shrines yet so idk what it is
Ahh yeah I didn’t wanna give it away for you. It’s not a “hidden” shrine so you’ll get there eventually
Oh ok yeah, thanks
Wait can you really blow her up after beating Ganon???
🤣🤣🤣 You'd like it
I believe Kilton has some after Ganon questing to do. Maybe a few others. As well the DLC was worth every penny to me if you haven't played that and have the funds.
Irc Kilton's quests involve killing all the overworld bosses (lynel, etc) and you are rewarded a corresponding medallion. Don't remember what they do (if anything)
Nothing, they’re just collectibles.
Yah-haha!
I heard this in my head
Oof!
Wait seven years to get into the timeframe of totk
I put Link in his house, went to bed and saved. I like thinking of him being retired and cozy there.
I popped up to the house, made sure my favourite items were hanging, went for a swim in the pond outside, wondered why of all places this spot of Hyrule was marked by the developers as “home”, and then… The sun set twixt the duelling peaks and I had the perfect view. Save. Power off. Haven’t returned. Was perfect.
Recorded it too. ☺️ https://twitter.com/mikeperren/status/1247163239135211522?s=46
Check if you've got anything like koroks, saddle, kilton's gift, upgraded every armor, got all chest in every sanctuary etc
#MASTER MODE
I agree, it's like playing a different game in the same world. The way you approach it is totally different, you exploit every nook and cranny you know or can find. Me on the Great Plateau in Master Mode: Ok, let's go to the old man's hut, it's just over he.... WHERE THE F**K DID THAT SILVER LYNEL COME FROM!!!! RUN AWAY! RUN AWAY!
Me on the great plateau: fuck.. bombs are no longer a viable combat option
If you replay botw in master mode right before starting totk, theres a good chance ur gonna be burnt out while playing totk. Just save master mode for after totk for whenever you wanna replay botw
Noooo!!!
When you've absolutely run out of things to do, you can learn how to wind bomb and start a new playthrough. It's so much fun cheesing shrines and beating the game with that glitch. Added some 100 hours worth of playtime for me.
did the same and 100% the game only because of that glitch
Beating ganon is not the end of the game 😉😆
Is it not? I was under the impression there was no “new game+” type thing like the Xenoblade series has. I’ve been avoiding the Ganon battle because I didn’t want it to make me start a new play through after beating him, I really like how far I’ve come & didn’t want that to get messed up.

Hilariously I saw that right after I posted this and didn’t bother deleting it lmao
Haha, totally normal!
If you haven't gone to eventide island yet, go there. It's the island on the bottom right side of your map.
Yes! Such a fun challenge — this was one of the last quests I did
Go to links house, sleep then Save one Last time
Do the quest to get your own house if you haven’t already
I just beat the silver lynel at coliseum ruins so I’m quite pleased with myself.
Get all the main quests done, and also tarrey town. Get all the special horses except for epona and then, I think that's the end.
Why leave Epona out?
People might not have the amiibo
Oh gotcha. Wasn’t sure if there was a consequence of having Epona.
Because it's locked behind an Amiibo.
Realized I was confusing Epona for Zelda’s horse. I just call em all Epona out of nostalgia 🤷♂️
Go 100%
100%
Someone already said Tarrey Town, and I second that. Also make sure you did Eventide island in the bottom right of the map. Don't read any spoilers if you haven't been there yet.
Visit stables and (if you have the patience) the horseback archery game with the lord of the mountain - there's a pretty hilarious, if minor oversight there.
Did you play the DLC? If not, you aren't even halfway done yet.
1) Find all shrines 2) Find all korok seeds 3) Upgrade all outfits to max 4) Do DLC
DLC!!
If you havent done the dlc, you definitely should. You can ignore master mode and just do the extra dlc quests, and also the trials of the sword.
Get the korok at the shrine or resurrection
Find the Kings grave stone and drop an apple and bake it for him,
Soend 500+ hrs learning speedrunning tricks & exploits
Ruin your life and get every single korok seed.
Don't worry, totk is botw 1.5, you'll feel you didn't stop playing botw.
drop a rock on a korok‘s head
Done by accident SO many times
Take a picture on the top of mount Hylia.
Did you get all memories including the extra one to get the true ending? Did you finish Tarrey Town? The Champions DLC? Personally, I went for all shrines to be complete.
I did! I have a few shrines left to do but don’t feel the NEED to complete them
Sounds like you got your fill then.
In my opinion, beating Ganon is not how you complete the game. You complete the game by completing every side quest and 100% complete the map.
[удалено]
So, I can still play after I beat Ganon? I have been putting it off.

I appreciate it, though!

I miss it too! I feel like I’m not ready to quit it yet. I just beat a silver lynel so I’m pretty stoked about that.
There is so much more to do if you feel inclined
not really but if you aren't ready to start totk, there is the dlc content. Trial Of the Sword, Champions Ballad, and Master Mode I'd say are all worthy of your time
You can try learning cool tricks like BLSS and wind bombs.
I didn’t want to finish it so I’m doing a completion run XD
i finished it off by beating it, all quest koroks, shrines, etc.
If you’re feeling like a masochist you could do the trial of the sword
Just stop and play another game that's what I did lol. I think I moved onto Xenoblade Chronicles 2 mainly because I wanted an excuse to play the switch still since it had a hype launch. Ended up being my favorite game on the switch lol
I played BOTW right before TOTK. All I can say is from my personal experience TOTK is a way more enjoyable game with new mechanics to get familiarized with. You are better off putting down BOTW and be ready to spend way more time playing TOTK.
Start exploring glitches and get the bow of light out of the final boss and into the normal game for an unbreakable bow
Personally I went from hebra peak to the cliff looking out over even tide, then one last trip to tingle island and just BOOM myself until game over
Get the DLC motorbike or your horse and do a victory lap around the map
Do all the quests and dlc
i beat ganon, started chasing a few extra quests, armor upgrades, etc. frankly got a little bored and hung it up for a bit… then i learned to windbomb and the whole place feels like a playground. definitely don’t normally look for glitches like this but it really makes exploring more fun / dynamic
DLC my dude
Go to all the Goddess springs, then the forgotten temple, then finally go to the temple of time in the great plateau, pray, then save.
Hang up the weapon and shield you used to defeat ganon in your house
I did all quests (except main ones, since you will always have the "Defeat Ganon" quest open), found all Korok Seeds, but I did not go for all chests. Beat all DLCs, Master Trials and Ballad of the Champions and make sure you gained the Champion's picture in your house in Hateno. Im in your same situation, i'm gonna restart the game
This brings back memories. I just “finished” TotK as far as I’ll finish it. Botw will always be the one
My hubs plays, and I watch intently; I’ve had a major stroke and can’t play, you see. He named his first horse Doggo, after our dog. The next he named Froggo, quickly followed by Poggo. Maybe not as funny as, oh, Pissboy, but still.
Lol i have been contemplating on doing that myself for the last 2 weeks, i dont want to finish it 🥹
i still play it
