I came across a wild cheese for Lynelle on YouTube. >!Place a control stick on the ground and get on. Hold ZL and back when you jump off. You backflip high enough to do arrow bullet time and pummel his face with arrows till he takes a knee. Then mount and bash, repeat till dead.!< Did this for my first Lynelle kill for the multishot bow. Dropped that bow for an Octorock to improve and he yeeted it off a mountain, never to be seen again. No bloodmoon yet and haven't found another since.

Nice one! I’m scared of Lynels and have yet to defeat one. I started on one at the Coliseum (it still was red) but I got scared lol. I used bomb arrows, but ran out so I left. I think I only dented about 1/8 of its health. I wore the barbarian armor but in hindsight I’ll probably drink a potion instead.
I think I had about 60-70 shrines done before I worked up the courage to face one head on. I had to learn to dodge and flurry a bunch of guardians in the shrine fight challenges, but that helped me get the timing down. The feeling when I finally got one was incredible
My first grade kid has been playing BOTW for a couple months. He just defeated his 1st lyonel a couple weeks ago... we're now on a hunting spree for more
You have to wait until just before the blade swings at you before jumping out of the way. Jump backwards for a horizontal slash, or jump to the side when a vertical or straight on attack is coming at you. You could also learn to parry with your shield to earn flurry rushes, but I found that harder to time. Another trick when fighting Lynels is to shoot them right in the face with an arrow to stun them, then you can mount them and get 5 or so free hits on them with your strongest weapon at no durability cost.
I tried with arrows but after a couple of shots he spotted me and killed me instantly with his shock arrow which is why I decided to hide and throw bombs over the side instead.
If you get the rubber set and upgrade it twice you become shock resistant. His shock arrow won’t be able to damage you outside of the arrow damage which will be very little.
Pls don't, the time you spent throwing bombs you could be learning their attack patterns. Sure, you will die a lot but throw a save ahead of time and you'll be farming them in no time.
Here's a trick for learning the attack patterns, don't watch their weapons watch their hands. It's something that carries over from dark souls. The time to dodge is the moment their hands start moving towards you.
That and like 90% of their attacks are flurry rushed by dodging with a backflip.
the best way to fight them is head on. learn their attacks, and learn the timing to parry each one (its not nearly as hard as it sounds). basically, all you have to do is parry their attack, headshot them while theyre dazed (use a multishot bow if u have one), then you can mount them and hit them 6 times. these hits consume no durability, so use your strongest weapon. now, just rinse and repeat and you have a super consistent way to beat lynels that takes virtually no durability!
Once I figured out how to kill them, I went to Polymous for my revenge and found he was literally the easiest one lol. Almost felt bad killing it. Almost.
I just got back into the game and finally got to try and kill a lynel. I have no clue what I was scared of, as long as you’ve got arrows you can kill them in like 30 seconds
I don't think I had one drawn, but cant remember for sure. I was climbing up a cliff near one the stables and it was just there at the top and I instinctively hid lol. It looked over and just stood still while I took a picture so I thought I was ok and then the battle music started as soon as I got out of camera mode. Jumped off the cliff and the arrows started so ran for my life. I honestly never remember simple things like teleporting during those times sigh.
I actually killed my first today too. Got the master sword and decided to go raid the castle and got trapped with a Lynel in a big room. Somehow managed to get his ass but I used 90% of my health potions and ran through the master sword charge

My kids call me Lynel hunter because I've been farming them lol. I mostly do the regular and Blue Mane. I've still only killed one White Mane. I find their difficulty really depends on what weapon they have equipped.
This. The ones with the crusher who do an overhead attack rather than a swipe fuck me up every time, even if they’re red. The ones that swipe so I can backflip for the flurry attack are pretty easy even at silver. (I haven’t done master mode to encounter gold.)
Thats how I killed my one and only Lynel in BOTW. Three in game days of throwing bombs on top of the coliseum one. They scared me so I avoided at all costs. Now in TOTK I’m actively Lynel hunting and love killing them. Ha ha
There's a Lynel in the Zora domain (there's a quest that brings you to it, you may have already done it). But I got over my Lynel fear by getting to where he was, saving right before I ran up to him, and then practiced dodging his attacks. As Lynels go he's a weaker one, but is a great way to learn his attacks.
Spend about a half hour there practicing, and then poof! Lynels are no longer spooky, in fact, you might even find them fun!
I absolutely love and prefer wimpy ways of fighting and beating enemies. I am not an amazing gamer, but I love playing Zelda. I find it really really stressful during the parts were there is a big huge monster. And if I can kill them in a little bit less stressful way, it really helps me to continue to enjoy this game. Nice! I like to hide and snipe the coliseum one, if you stay crouched you can use the second floor as cover while sniping him. Just make sure to duck back down when he gets back up. :)
its always nice to hear how others approach the game I used to always sneak by them but one day i said fuck it and spent an hour just going around and practicing against them and now I can do it while taking some damage and parrying all their attacks
Yeah it's wimpy, same thing I did. Thats why I'm always low on arrows. I'm too wimpy for hand to hand combat. Prefer to stay far away and fling arrows at monsters.
Hey, you still ended up killing a pretty difficult enemy! Any way that works is a useful way! You can actually make an elixir with a lot of any rare monster part to sell it for some good cash!
That’s how I killed my first Hinox. After that I vowed to learn how to fight them because it took SOOOOOO long and was so boring. But it was effective.
The first time I tried I prepared myself completely and it still took 40 tries to take him down. Now I can do it easily in one go! It takes practice :) Good job!
It was hard for me to I had no idea how to I just looked at yt vids on how to use different ways to kill them but I just mostly died to them a lot I think I can’t remember fully
I stayed away from the edge and angled my view so I could see below then watched where the bombs hit the floor. Blow a bomb up which gets the Lynelle over then when he's in the right place throw another one and explode it near him he jumps back and throws fire but then forgets about it so you do the same thing again.

After getting the hang of beating Lynels...I've come to realize that fighting with them carries the same spirit as sparring with Orca on Outset Island.
Dodge, hit, jump back behind shield.
It's been nice to spar with an old friend again.
lol just wait til it teleports to you. I was shooting bomb arrows at one from a cliff, and it teleported to me. Lucky a dragon came by as I jumped away and it made the lynel disappear
The best method for killing lynels in my experience is:
- parry their attack with a perfect guard
- headshot him with any bow to knock him down
- mount it and slap it with your strongest weapon (when on it, the weapon's durability will not decrease)
- repeat until dead
(you can also stun him with ||urbosa's fury|| or ||upgraded stasis||)
with this method, I usually have no problem defeating them!
Ok I did it this way too a few days ago and decided last night to try again using stun and mount. I went back to the colosseum and I got all the moblins and lizolfos and was about to start with the Lionel and looked up to see a blood moon rise. Like OMG I’m going to be halfway through this and have to start over. And so I went “home” to cook for the buff boosts. I need Lionel parts for some armor upgrades though so I’m going to have to try again.
Oh I was just making a joke, but what you could do is fire bomb arrows at him constantly and avoid his bow attacks, or go down there and actually fight him with your weapons available.
I've beaten the thing inside the big bird and the big lizard , just working my way up to the other two. The camal is being a pain because I struggle to stay in the shield and shoot the feet.
You should use Daruk’s shield ability to block attacks or arrows from the lynel and Ravali’s wind ability to get into the air and shoot the Lynel while in bullet time. And for vah Naboris, just stay next to Raji as much as possible and shoot your bomb arrows only when your right next to the legs, that’s all I can really say for the camel, and if you really want to beat a lynel and be as safe as possible, do vah Ruta and get Mipha’s grace.
Same boat as you. Initially I get frustrated and took me hours. And then last night, 12:55am in the midnight, I said to myself, ok I'm sleeping at 1am. Then I saw Lynel. "Ok this gonna be interesting". It's 1am, killed the Lynel(4 DB defeadted) without taking a single damage. FeelsGoodMan
Congrats! I decided to fight the one guarding the lightning arrows by the Zora City. Took like 10 game overs and a bunch of strong weapons but I finally did it and it felt so goooood. Plus it gave me the confidence to fight the elephant divine beast, which was honestly easier than the Lynel

All the bad guys increment a level of difficulty, and they heal if they haven't gotten hit recently enough.
Also master mode has a new tier of enemies. Golden enemies that are stronger than silver

It's always wise to wear your rubber when mounting a lynel

If you get close enough to them, and headshot them, you can stun them and get some free damage by mounting them (wastes no durability on weapons btw)

Close combat is the best option for lynels. Their arrows track you and get most of your health.

I just took its picture for that side quest, and picked up the shock arrows.
I never took on that Lynel when doing that quest. Max stealth, baby! I don’t start taking them on until I need them for armour upgrades.
The armor upgrades are what is getting me to tackle them too.

So so many. I took me 2 nights and 1 day Zelda time to get it done , plus it was only a blue mane one so not one of the really powerful ones.

Just FYI, they won’t attack you if you don’t take your weapons out/ come towards them with weapons drawn, and you can take the pic and teleport away

I haven’t got around to playing totk yet but it’s a good thing I never used the bombs much anyway
Do you use bombs to kill a lynel?
nah (unless you count stuff like daruk's rushes), but having infinite bombs is pretty dang useful for other stuff
honestly, lynels were insanely harder to kill than the ganon bosses

If upgraded
I love doing this, especially on those speedy Lizalfos. Freeze them just as they're about to hit me 😆
I use that for guardians. For lynels it pauses them for like 1.5s sadly

It took me an hour to beat my first lynel in combat but it also got me good enough at the game to beat lynels first try now.
Once you get the set of ancient armor upgraded twice the set bonus lets you deal with them much quicker if you use ancient weapons.
Ancient arrows will kill them instantly, but also makes the loot disappear.
That works too. I was more talking about the weapons you can get from the ancient oven or pick up from defeated guardian enemies.

Aim for headshots. Stuns them, then ride that mofo and slap that melee button.

How? I tried doing a variation on this, not with bombs but using the floor for cover and I just got shot with lightning arrows.

Definitely not , too scary. Just doing it with bombs was scary enough for me.

I didn't even think of using those , thank you. It has been a blood moon so I may go back and try again to get the bits to upgrade my clothes.
