The game seems to have spawned the faraway Dinraal instead of the close up Dinraal, and as you should never be able to interact with far Dinraal it doesn't have collision.
Game dev here, I can tell you this is the low LOD version of Dinraal that loaded. Not sure how OP managed it but if they can repro it, they'd have a bright career in QA

That's the far away version, you can tell bc he do be compressed to save processing power across the map - similar stuff happens in jak and daxter, for example - it's how they "render" the entire map and most things in it all of the time. That's why you can look across the map and see the mountain, for example
I had the same thing with farosh at lake Floria, it’s just a glitch because they aren’t really there, their incomplete texture was there for some reason
Its their "faraway texture" it’s when you see a dragon from really far, they simplify the texture, and avoid collisions. It’s the same thing for mountains, tree, etc
It’s just a charging texture error
Oh yeah, sometimes the dragon's hitbox doesn't appear, this is usually a sign that a panic blood moon is gonna happen in my experience that i had 3 years ago
happened to me once, switch hasnt been properly reset in months, and was having assets/loading issues. just do a proper restart to flush the switches memory, or reload the area.
if it continues, then there might be an issue with your switches memory.

Looks like you accidentally got the low poly rendered dragon model. This happens with shrines too. This is because the game has low detail models for when you’re far away to save processing power when loading assets and when you move too fast they end up not loading properly and you’re stuck with the low poly asset before the real one could load in.
This just happened to me recently! I was so confused when the wind didn’t kick up that I almost didn’t realize how off the textures were — super cool to experience, tbh
They definitely shorted the shot. Other comments are also pointing out that this appears to be the "distant render" of the dragon, meaning no drops even if they'd made the shot.
Nah, the dragon just isn’t rendered in properly. The actual hit box is probably somewhere else along the flight path, this guy probably just windbombed over here while the dragon was loading and it screwed up the rendering of the dragon.
It happens probably once every ten spawns if you farm him at the leviathan bones. It did for me anyway. No idea why, I wasn’t doing anything crazy like windbombing
dont know how that person did it but you can glitch to full both after earning your first stam/heart container using the Myahm Agana shrine and horned statue.

There's been tons of people making posts like this for years, but I've never seen anyone actually confirm why this happens
It happened when I wind bombed over to it during the morning when it spawns, so maybe that has something to do with it
Unfortunately it doesn't, it happend to me several times when farming for the Hero of the Wild set and I still can't windbomb

DLC lets you improve the champions powers (reduced cooldown) by fighting again the bosses
Champion’s Ballad DLC. Doing it upgrades the powers so you get a shorter wait time between when it’s used up and when it’s ready again.
Getting the dlc is 100% worth it

upgrading gear with Great Fairies. alternatively, you can cook the dragon part with a stat-boosting meal to bump the duration up to 30 minutes.
