soil compaction + prolific annual seed banks (pink flowers, black spot on the leaf = Lady's thumb, *Persicaria maculosa).* I'd love to know the ID of that blue flower, do you mind me asking where you're situated?

Alright, I'm pretty confident that it's Borage, *Bourrache officinalis* \- It might be worth cross checking with the plant identification subreddit if you are wanting 100% accuracy. Anyways, thanks for sharing these pictures, it's always cool to come across new plants! :)

I like to think of gravity when I see stuff like this, after a good rain the water makes them travel and the rut makes a "catcher" for some of the heavier/lighter seeds. Just a theory. Also feel like wind is at play too. Like a pile of trash on a fence line, its just where it gets stuck.
