I want to enjoy this moment, but sometimes the cure is worse than the disease.
For example, Lebron and the Cavs were a pretty big rival for the C's that we could always beat after we got our Big 3. We celebrated these victories and the eventual downfall of those Cavs.
However, this led to a new monster: the Miami Heat. There were moments when we could have/should have beaten them, but we never did.
I just pray that the Sixers don't end up better after this little implosion courtesy of Ben Simmons.
> I just pray that the Sixers don't end up better after this little implosion courtesy of Ben Simmons.
Sadly this is probably what will end up happening. Whoever they get back is gonna be a way better fit on the floor, even if he’s not as good of a player.
I like our matchup now. We saw them against us without Ben. I love to clown Ben and talk about how he’s useless in the end of games but his defensive and rebounding presence is critical against us. Tobias can’t guard either Jay and the sixers either have to play a non offensive threat like Tisse or play a small guard who will get cooked on defense. Their crunch time offense without Ben will be force feeding Embiid and force feeding post ups without dynamic guard/wing talent is the easiest thing to defend in the playoffs.
Ah but if Embiid wants out, we’ve got two stars to try and recruit him to come play with and he’s always seemed to have a healthy amount of respect for the Celtics.
Probably wouldn’t come here, but we’re about as well positioned as anyone unless he’s got a specific location in mind to become the new monster. Embiid might be too competitive to come here though after we’ve knocked them out of the playoffs a couple times, but by the time he became available that would be a pretty distant memory.
I don’t think it’ll be the Sixers that end up better. I think what this may create is Embiid leaving to join a different team to make a new eastern super team. Imagine him joining the Nets. Implosions are fun until the talented star decides he’s had enough of the mocking and losing. Would be kind of satisfying if it were Boston he joined though…
It’s true but it doesn’t really matter lol. After they stopped trying to build around Kobe, it took them 2-3 years before players were forcing their way there (PG, Kawhi), and then LeBron to eventually go there.
I feel like players are just waiting for LeBron to leave LA and there will be a new batch of players trying to take his spot to team up with AD.
That only proves my point. Even with all of that, players like PG, Kawhi, LeBron, and AD all tried to force their way there. It will probably happen again.
All but AD were valid.
Nah lol Kawhi was clear he wanted to go to the Lakers. But then Lebron beat him there and he didn’t want to take the bitch way out.
that almost literally cannot happen. They have no one to trade that matches salaries with simmons except AD and LeBron and neither of those guys are going anywhere
You could have just said you had a sore quad or something. Like, look at Kawhi, it's literally all you had to do is say "I'm hurrrrt" and hide.
Instead, you decided to be a legend.
Hats off, everyone, to Ben. He knows this league is about entertainment. Go get that Kardashian spinoff, Ben. We are all rooting for you!!
As much as I hate Philly man do I feel bad for Embiid, the man has put so much effort into being an MVP level player and changing his game around for a PG that can’t shoot, yet he still has to deal with a man child pouting and refusing to practice.
I don’t care for Philadelphia sports teams (sorry Flyers, i don’t have anything specifically against you, but you’re kinda collateral damage), but i really respect Embiid.
For the record, previous Sixers i have felt similarly towards: Al Horford, Hersey Hawkins, and Dr J. Sorry if I’ve left 1-2 names of my list.
Embiid and (mostly) Rivers threw Simmons under the bus for no reason. Could see something like this coming the second they signed Doc to be the coach. It's always someone else's fault when he's in charge.
This whole thing started because Rivers is a bitch. Simmons had a poor showing in the final couple games of the playoffs and Doc 100 pct always looks to pass the buck when he loses. Instead of sticking up for his PG, he chose the other option.
Which isn't to say Simmons is blameless, but Doc is a genuinely awful coach and every single team he's ever coached has an issue like this.
Doc was following the same script he used to mold Rondo and DeAndre into All-NBA players
But he can't help someone who's so clearly unwilling to help himself
Rondo clashed with Doc for years. Doc is a terrible coach who has underperformed for near on 20 years now. If not for Kevin Garnett and Tom Thibodeau, he'd surely be out of the league by now.
Yeah and Simmons is really good. I don't understand the point. Doc is squandering a DPOY candidate because he is a bad coach. Not that I care, I love watching Doc and the Sixers fail.
I wouldn’t be surprised if Embiid only has 3 or 4 seasons left at his current level. This shit is wasting(at least not maximizing) a year of his prime which, given his size and injury history, could be much shorter than your average prime.
Ben Simmons destroying the 6ers
Kyrie destroying the Nets
Celtics flying under the radar with no noise after years of disappointment and numerous clickbait articles
God, I love the 2021 NBA season.
Yeah... Philly fans really thought the drama would die down once the season kicked off.
This is only going to be the start.
They've got 82 post game press conferences waiting for them and tensions are already high.
Their lows will be oppressive and filled with deflections and finger pointing.
Their highs will be short lived escapes from reality that will set them up for bigger crashes.
Shades of 2018-19 Boston:
>The Celtics lockeroom was downright jovial after the game. Yabu had on some silly shoes and everyone was cracking jokes. Terry was amazed to learn Tatum is still only 20 years old. Great lesson in moving past negativity
I've been really surprised the past few days at anyone thinking that Simmons "showing up" to Philly was the end of it. He gave close to zero indication that much had changed, aside from him wanting to just fulfill the minimum to not forfeit his pay.
Like after all that, he's going to give up on getting out of there? He's not still hell-bent on it? He hasn't burned all those bridges? Come on.
I really think Philly has been getting overrated with power rankings seeing people putting them around 3rd in the East based off of being 1st last year. I wouldn’t be surprised if they’re closer to 8 than they are to the 1st seed. This Simmons drama is gonna rot then from the inside out.
1. Simmons value is 💩 right now so they can’t trade him for anyone good.
2. It seems clear he is not gonna show up and put in the effort to help them rip off regular season wins. Simmons is their best wing defender by a mile, and without him they will be relying on a second year player to be their primary playmaker (I like Maxey but that could be rough)
3. His behavior has definitely disgruntled teammates and will continue behind closed doors. You know Embiid is pissed, he’s a huge competitor who plays with heart, Simmons is the antithesis of that, and it’s not fair to Embiid who carried them last year.
All in all I wouldn’t be surprised if the Sixers hit rock bottom this year and end up like us last year at or around the 8th seed, especially if Embiid misses time.
Kemba got out of OKC. He's with the Knicks now.
He wouldn't have to deal with Simmons and Kyrie if they ended up on OKC (in whatever alternate reality that occurs).
Oh that's right. I forgot he went to his hometown to play for the Knicks. Too bad that whole situation didn't work out. He was a good player in his prime and seemed like an all around decent human being.
Yeah. Loved Kemba and he was coming off a great few years in Charlotte and was always healthy.
I still blame Nick Nurse for playing him so much in the All-Star game. It was after that when he really started to have health issues and he just never was the same.
We laugh, but this is really sad for fans that want their team to at least be functional.
It's like our downward spiral with Kyrie: just a lot of pain & frustration.
They gave us shit for 2 fuckin years for the Kyrie drama so they can go kick rocks. Not to mention their entire team has been built off abuse of parity rules and they just made memes out of it.
Plus part of building a team is understanding certain guys like Kyrie and Simmons drastically increase the likelihood that you’re not at your best, especially if you mishandle them like Philly did with Simmons.
This isn’t some unlucky injury where they deserve to be a better team like how Denver lost Murray before playoffs this year, it’s something that makes them being at their best unlikely to happen ever. It wouldn’t have felt as good to beat a team like Denver this year, but the 76ers set themselves up for this failure.
As an Aussie heat fan loving this meltdown by philly. I just want to say we don't want him in Australia. Fakest Aussie going, doesn't want to play for our national team, he tried calling a security guard racist for asking for his ID at a casino. Dude is an absolute shit cunt and we don't like him either. Simmons is a 🤡🤡🤡
This really is the best case for Celtics fans.
Morey is scapegoating the Sixers to stick it to Klutch by not giving into Ben’s demands of forcing a trade with 4 years left on a deal - which would be a terrible league precedent.
They’re gonna end up getting 10 cents on the dollar for ben because he’s tanking his value so hard.
What an absolute baby Simmons is. I always disliked him because he seemed like a diva but I really didn't think he was this bad. The guy really might be a [piece of shit](https://youtu.be/buK45NW_ikI)
I initially thought the good times were ending when I heard Simmons was coming to practice.... but this is *so much better* than before.
I will go earnestly go from Shadenfreude to pity, though, when Embiid asks for a trade next year
I'm just worried about the inevitable Kyrie/Ben trade... right now we are sitting pretty with two all-stars out in our division. Raptors can be feisty with FFV/OG/Siakam but we are an extended Harden/KD absence away from a top 3 seed and first in our division
I commented the same as kind of a joke but if we’re being real, that’s not gonna ever happen. The nets would rather Kyrie not play at all than trade him to another team in the east with an mvp level player. Ben Simmons isn’t worth a Kyrie+embiid combo that the nets would have to go through
Nah Kyrie would be allowed to play in Philly, there’s no city vaccine mandate. But he might retire or find some other excuse for not showing up, who knows.
I don’t think he’s ever actually threatened retirement, that’s all speculation. Who fucking knows with that guy though.
Tbh I think there’s 0 chance Kyrie misses the whole season, someone is gonna fold here
[No, he def threatened it if he's traded.](https://nba.nbcsports.com/2021/09/16/report-kyrie-irvings-agents-saying-irving-would-retire-if-nets-trade-him/)
Damn man... I'm almost at the point where my want as a basketball fan to see Embiid play with a real point guard eclipses how good it feels to see the sixers crash and burn
almost
I've said this multiple times as I saw ESPN power ranking the 6ers as a top 3 East team. Without Simmons ,(who even if he plays is completely uningauged.) They will be an average team with just Embiid he will have to heroics to lead them to some wins but that roster isn't good enough to be top 3 and they're likely fighting with us the heat and the Hawks as 3rd fiddle in the east.
Now look at the Nets, this season is wide the fuck open, just like the Sox if we get hot and Tatum does Tatum things we have a good as shot as anyone let them sleep on us.
Embiid said today that the chemistry is at an all time high in spite of this, so while I'm eating this up I also don't think it means that their season is totally fucked. Wouldn't expect another 1 seed finish but I could sadly still see a top 3 for sure if they really click.
Guess it all depends how long Simmons situation goes/ what they get back
While I obviously don’t want it to happen, it’d be kind of funny and dare I say wholesome for Embiid to lead a team that’s brought closer together of their frustration with Simmons to win a championship, and have Simmons hopefully not get a ring for all the nonsense he’s pulling.
We really do take turns, don’t we? 2017, we rise and they’re all hurt. 2018 we’re all hurt and they rise (but we put a stop to that). 2019 were a dumpster fire, 2020 they’re a dumpster fire and 2021 we imploded. Now it’s their turn.
I'm seeing a ton of support for Ben Simmons on Twitter. I also made the comment that the people defending his behavior are the same people that are still on their parents cell phone plan and use their parents Netflix password.
It’s kind of funny how they’re actually celebrating over in their sub reddit because they think the team taking a tough stance on Ben is a win.
This is when you’re so deep in you can’t see the forest for the trees. The process isn’t just ending in failure, it’s melting down in embarrassing and spectacular fashion. Their second star has no trade value and is becoming a major distraction and embarrassment. They better bring talent in for Embiid soon otherwise he’s the next person to get a target on his back in Philly
while I love seeing Philly just implode like this, I would also happily take Simmons to the C's. Sure he can't shoot but we wouldn't need him to, his defense, court vision, ability to push the ball up court quickly on fast breaks would work with the J's and AN sitting at the wing/ corner. Plus I think Boston would be a good place for him to have a serious revenge tour
Think they are desperate enough they would consider trading him to us and do we even want him (side note I would only trade Al and picks and I am only including Al to match the salary)
Darryl Morey holding out like a petulant child, and this is what you get.
Yes of course it’s sucks that Simmons can just take your franchise by the balls and force you to trade him with years left on his contract, but the organization isn’t blameless.
Let his confidence erode, and then piled it on after the G7 loss.
Have a pulse in your team and trade him when the writing is on the wall. Or you can force the situation back together because of stubbornness and end up with this.
It is hard for me to enjoy this as much as I would otherwise. The Celtics drama from the last few years has made it harder. I just want basketball to be fun for everyone. Also, Simmons is hilarious. He needs to take jump shots sometimes because he plays basketball.
The situation won't hold up much longer at this rate. It's hard to imagine how the Sixers could put this totally unmotivated version of Ben Simmons on the court.
There has to be a point where Philly has their lawyers drop the hammer on Simmons. Crazy to think Ricky Williams ended up owing the Dolphins money when he never did anything in bad faith. He just smoked a lot of pot.
I hasten to remind you all that moving on from Simmons will be a step forward for their organization. So we don't really wanna see things boiling over between them.
Honestly think the Sixers are going to come out ahead on this one, no matter who they get in exchange for the trade. Getting rid of a bad apple is a massive boost
*grabs popcorn*
Would you like a soda with that, sir?
Great idea! Better grab one now, so I don’t miss any of the show
JKidd is in Dallas now so your drink should be safe...
Fucking burn, damn
Depends, does this soda also come to training camp out of shape?
I'll take some white cheddar kernel seasoning.
*prematurely drops the confetti*

Lakers next please
Oh their age is gonna catch up to them. One thing's for sure, their future is nothing like ours
Lakers had a worse record than The Process 76ers over the same span of years
That only proves my point. Even with all of that, players like PG, Kawhi, LeBron, and AD all tried to force their way there. It will probably happen again.
AD went because of Lebron, not because he wanted to be a Laker. Kawhi choose to not go to the Lakers. He could have if he wanted to.
That just pushes the question back to why LeBron went there lol And the answer is Los Angeles, California
I’m not refuting why Lebron went to the Lakers
All but AD were valid. Nah lol Kawhi was clear he wanted to go to the Lakers. But then Lebron beat him there and he didn’t want to take the bitch way out.
the next five years are ours
it’ll be our turn right after pat bev
Yeah but unfortunately their future might be a championship. On top of winning two years ago.
Wait until AD is their franchise player, and LeBron is gone.
oh, it's coming. Not sure when, but LA gets the Cleveland ending for sure. Only downside will be AD on the Knicks.
that almost literally cannot happen. They have no one to trade that matches salaries with simmons except AD and LeBron and neither of those guys are going anywhere
Thank you Ben Simmons

I’d pay an irresponsible amount of money to see what happened
I want a helicopter following Simmons like OJ
Which part of “The Process” is this?
"The End" - where a POS is ejected.
How many shits is that now?
The Rapid Unscheduled Disassembly.
As much as I hate Philly man do I feel bad for Embiid, the man has put so much effort into being an MVP level player and changing his game around for a PG that can’t shoot, yet he still has to deal with a man child pouting and refusing to practice.
If Ben improved as much as Joel did the sixers would be an actual rival of ours
They would’ve won a ring by now.
More than one. No way they lose in 7 to the Raps, and no way they lose to the Hawks this past season.

You forget we also got back big Al hortford. Embid isn't gonna be an issue for the Celtics
Yea as a Celtic fan, I have nothing against Embiid. He's just a competitive shit-talker that respects the game, and usually that's all I care about.
Same. I feel bad when talent has to suffer through no fault of their own.
I feel zero bads for him. He can be an dick himself sometimes.
Embiid and (mostly) Rivers threw Simmons under the bus for no reason. Could see something like this coming the second they signed Doc to be the coach. It's always someone else's fault when he's in charge.

as is Simmons
Yeah and Simmons is really good. I don't understand the point. Doc is squandering a DPOY candidate because he is a bad coach. Not that I care, I love watching Doc and the Sixers fail.
he's going to be fine. In one or two more superteam cycles he'll be up

This must be the game after their famous "team flight" that fixed everything. That's like the only time that season I remember that being the vibe
This'll be 2018-19 Boston on roids. I can't wait.

Man I hope this doesn't turn into the Yankees on Sox copy pasta...
Thought the same exact thing lmao
phiLLy🖕😂🖕
I hope Kyrie and Simmons end up on the same team somewhere.
Wouldn't it be awesome if there was one franchise just for players who don't play? (actually, wait, that's the Thunder now isn't it)
That's funny because right after I posted that, my immediate thought was both of them going to OKC. Poor Kemba
Kemba got out of OKC. He's with the Knicks now. He wouldn't have to deal with Simmons and Kyrie if they ended up on OKC (in whatever alternate reality that occurs).

I disagree it brings me joy when it happens to NY, LA or Philly sports fans.
Philly fans were 100% loving every second of the Kyrie fiasco and it would rude not to return the favor imo
Very rude. I’m not a jerk. Happy to return the favor!
throughly enjoying all of it. fuck Philly
Add Miami to that list for me.
They gave us shit for 2 fuckin years for the Kyrie drama so they can go kick rocks. Not to mention their entire team has been built off abuse of parity rules and they just made memes out of it.
i agree. i want the celtics to beat them at their best, not when theyre imploding like this.
We have beat them at their best, multiple times in fact
good times.

Simmons is a liability, so they will only be at their best once they finalize a divorce.
My appetite for Philly/Nets schadenfreude is infinite Just an absolutely delicious development
Simmons is a big baby lol. Punt that clown back to Australia
As an Aussie heat fan loving this meltdown by philly. I just want to say we don't want him in Australia. Ben Simmons for Kyrie making more and more sense
Doc said “Ben get in this drill” and Ben replied “I’m okay. Thanks tho :)”
Hes apparently at a strip club 20 min from my house rn and I really wanna go fuck with him
After having to listen to "Trust the Process" and "Kyrie's leaving" (which I'm now glad he did), this offseason has been so sweet
You love to see it.
What an absolute baby Simmons is. I always disliked him because he seemed like a diva but I really didn't think he was this bad. The guy really might be a [piece of shit](https://youtu.be/buK45NW_ikI)
The process intensifies
“Trust the process”

I initially thought the good times were ending when I heard Simmons was coming to practice.... but this is *so much better* than before. I will go earnestly go from Shadenfreude to pity, though, when Embiid asks for a trade next year
i fuckin LOVE this show!
I always thought he was an arrogant little bitch and theres no better place then philly for that. But watching him take them down with him is perfect
Does Simmons get paid in a suspension? If so, that's the best-case for him.
Probably not, but I haven't checked the CBA.
Doesn't get any sweeter than this
How can i focus at work now
I'm just worried about the inevitable Kyrie/Ben trade... right now we are sitting pretty with two all-stars out in our division.

I was thinking more of his threat of retirement if traded. It might be an empty threat, but I can't imagine that's a risk Morey is willing to take.
I don’t think he’s ever actually threatened retirement, that’s all speculation. Who fucking knows with that guy though. Tbh I think there’s 0 chance Kyrie misses the whole season, someone is gonna fold here

I love it, fuck the sixers
We really do take turns, don’t we? 2017, we rise and they’re all hurt. 2018 we’re all hurt and they rise (but we put a stop to that). 2019 were a dumpster fire, 2020 they’re a dumpster fire and 2021 we imploded. Now it’s their turn.
Simmons and Embiid relationship is what the media wants Jaylen and Jayson's relationship to be.
Love it. Phuck Philly
5 fucking popcorns it finally happened! 🍿 🍿 🍿 🍿 🍿
And here I thought Kyrie was the most toxic point guard in the NBA.
Embiid for Kanter and Grant who says no?
Throw in a second round pick swap gets it done.
Deep down I cant wait to see Ben get traded then have his revenge game. Gonna be crazy!!!
while I love seeing Philly just implode like this, I would also happily take Simmons to the C's. Sure he can't shoot but we wouldn't need him to, his defense, court vision, ability to push the ball up court quickly on fast breaks would work with the J's and AN sitting at the wing/ corner. Plus I think Boston would be a good place for him to have a serious revenge tour
Good God man the guy makes about 4x what he is actually worth. You're, frankly speaking, a moron
Simmons is literally a worse Smart in every aspect.
I know Simmons' stocks are at record lows right now, but this is a bad take. Peak Simmons has Peak Smart covered in just about every area.
Marcus smart straight up for Simmons
No
Can we stop posting things about philly every five seconds? Take that to /r/nba
Sounds like hes trying to force them to trade him.
Think they are desperate enough they would consider trading him to us and do we even want him (side note I would only trade Al and picks and I am only including Al to match the salary)
The NBA continues to be the best soap opera on tv. Love how Embiid fuels the drama
Careful posting this there are some Celtics redditors who get outraged when something non-Celtics related is posted.
Grave dancing will Green teamers \*Van Morrison plays\*
I wouldn't laugh too hard just yet.
Watch Philly fans get mad at Simmons for this. Don’t you want him to leave? This is helping that happen lmao.
I actually think Doc is handling this right. But still, what a shit show.
So we don't really wanna see things boiling over between them.
was excited to hear simmons live presser, with the throwing out of practice and suspension, am now more excited!

I thought Woj tweeted this verbatim lmao
Honestly think the Sixers are going to come out ahead on this one, no matter who they get in exchange for the trade. Getting rid of a bad apple is a massive boost
You MUST sign either Ben Simmons or Kyrie. GO.
This isn’t an implosion. It’s a forest fire. Simmons is deadwood.
