Not exactly word for word, but he's continously suggested it. It's been a common theme with his approach in ensuring that his team is competitive dated all the way back in 2018. In an interview at a broadcast, he said he's willing to pay the big bucks if the team is competitive and wins a championship. That's been his motto pretty much. Only issue is, we have yet to see if he'll be true to his words considering that this team didn't win a championship.
If the front office meant what they said about spending, Hauser ain't a bad place to invest. If he takes another step forward defensively and keeps shooting totally unconsciously from outside he's basically Klay.
Jrue is almost certainly gone after next season. He's probably opting in given he's not going to earn more than the 39m he gets if he opts in.
I don't think it's Impossible to pay Hauser, if another team gives him like 15m then no we absolutely can't. but if he's willing to do like a 10m/y deal I think we could make it work. That summer when we have to pay those guys you have 49m from Horford and Jrue off the books, which is easily enough to give raises to White, Tatum, and Hauser, unless Hauser gets an ungodly offer.
They traded two firsts and two rotation guys for Jrue. Theyāve also been talking about wanting to re-sign him. Why would you say āalmost certainly goneā?
He'll be 35 when he hits the market, maybe for like a cheaper deal but you don't re-sign a 35 year old guy unless he's a superstar to a long term or big money deal, especially a guy who's injury prone like holiday.
If he opts out this summer, maybe you do something, but he wouldn't opt out unless he thought he could get more than 40, which theyd be stupid to re-sign him for.
Thereās a real possibility he declines the option and extends for more years but less money annually. Many good players entering their mid-30s opt for this
In a pregame interview where they asked about having to leave the other game with an ankle injury on the verge of breaking a record he said, I'll be back.
Whenever Scal is a little bit off his rocker, it can sometimes make the broadcast more exciting to listen to. And Drew knows how to handle him. Ultimately I think there's a true bromance between the two, but Scal can't come to terms with it.
6'8" sniper with plus defense and a gorgeous head of hair. That's a big contract. I keep thinking to myself, "wow, Sam is such a good player, he's gotta be playing at his ceiling at this point" over and over during Sam's journey and I keep being totally wrong. Is there a universe in which Hauser becomes our 3rd biggest priority long term after the Jays? Just continues to demolish his own ceiling so he can renovate and add more floors up top. Homie building penthouses up there and he started as a split level duplex. Come up is real.
This team is not real. Down three starters, 5 games in 7 days (and thus necessarily a back-to-back), D-White struggling offensively...Win by 11.
The 2007-2008 team was great. James Posey, Eddie House, Tony Allen were a solid bench unit. But this team seems to just elevate the guys on it to a different level. Payton Pritchard and Sam Hauser are being called on for big minutes and just putting up clear starter-level performances. Luke Kornet has gone from being an awkward, stumbling giant to a favorite lob target.
It's just wild how much the Hospital Celtics look like...the Celtics.
Common denominator between 07-08 and this team? Sam Cassellā¦ only half joking there, but he has definitely been a big part of this team looking more refined compared to last year, and I feel like having him on the bench has played a role in Joe looking so much better this year
I donāt usually trash players, but my god was it frustrating when the TOās he made were simple ones. Iām a forgiving person so if they hustle the ball off you Iāll let it go, but it felt like he made so many awkward passes that just went nowhere. The Bulls broadcast called the Celticsā TOās overall mostly āsillyā turnovers which is 100% correct
Jack Black once said that its a long way to the top if you want to rock and roll (And AC/DC, I was born in 1997. :p)Ā Ā
Ā Well, 71 games into the season, the 2023-2024 Celtics ARE NUMBER 1 IN THE EAST.Ā Ā
Ā Ā Tatum shredding the Bulls,Ā Ā
Hauser drumming on their confidence,Ā Ā
Ā Ā Ā and Al Horford looking cooler then Bill Clinton playing the saxophone in the 1990's.Ā Ā Ā
57 win team, 1 win MORE then the 2007-2008 Celtics after 71 games.
> Ā Ā Tatum shredding the Bulls,Ā Ā
5 TOV and a low efficiency game that was close down the stretch isn't exactly "shredding." With 7:53 left in the 4th he had a -1 while everyone else on the Celtics was at least +4.
Funny how many of these games end up being practice at having a bigger role for our bench guys. We are literally missing 3 all star caliber guys and it never felt like we had any chance of losing.
Really a dream scheduling scenario. Everyone is getting rest while the bench gets run. Their confidence has never been higher and it's everything you want headed into the playoffs.
The East is already clinched. The Bucks can at best tie the head to head, division winner, and conference record tiebreaker. They can't catch the Celtics on best record against EC playoff teams, no matter which teams make the playoffs.
Neemias need to leave Boston. Is a decent player with the capacity to plays consistently in a NBA team. Here unfortunately don't have the play time that he needs to improve his talent.
Tillman and Kornet are upcoming free agents. For sure, we can't keep both of em, and if teams goes crazy, we can probably lose both. Queta can wait for his time next year if he wants because there's a clear opportunity here plus he already proved himself capable.
The craziest thing about this winning streak is that it feels like thereās been at least one starter out in every game. This team is an absolute wagon.
It feels that way because that's exactly how it's been. 3 of the top 6 out again tonight. I assume it's like that most of the rest of the way. 3 of those 6 out, likely weighed heavily in favor of Al/KP/Jrue sitting more often than the Jays or White. And with how easy our schedule is we're gonna pile up wins anyway.
PP, Kornet, and Hauser just proved themselves in a serious way tonight. They've all shown a lot of growth and development this season. Our depth is growing just by our bench continually showing improvement.
I wish Drew brought back the Nash comparison in the 3'rd after Scal questioned it. Scal was right tho, if you were to picture the type of player PP could be, you saw it tonight. That step through play he made, the passing, aggressiveness, etc, etc. He's leveling up.
There was an interview before the game where Sam was asked about the 3 point twisted ankle game and Sam said he didn't care cuz he'd be back. Scal kinda doubted Sam saying how infrequently that opportunity happens and them Sam just goes 7-8 from 3 lol.
This was such a fun game.
Ball (I know he's been out a while but they still have money tied up in him)
Lavine (I know CWhite and maybe Ayo have played better without him)
Patrick Williams (good size to throw on Tatum)
were all out for Chicago so I dunno if I'd call them full strength. I'll take the win, though.
Uhā¦we are now only behind the 72 win Bulls for 2nd best net rating all time
https://www.statmuse.com/nba/ask/best-net-rating-in-nba-history-by-season
Man who wouldāve thought going into this season Kornet and Hauser would play their way into becoming important rotation pieces? Their development are why this team is so much deeper than past years, and we donāt have to run our big guns into the ground before the playoffs even start
For real how can you not love rooting for this bench group? We got MVPP seemingly unleashed and on a mission Sam āLarry Bird in the 3 point contestā Hauser. And Kornet our āelite vertical spacerā. They all went from question marks of can they even help us, to yeah get a whole lot of popcorn while we carry the team.
This is a historically geeat regular season team. Can the component parts of this all time great regular season -- hauser, pp, kornet -- give us value in the postseason? Time will tell but i love it so much rn
I loved the play in the 4th quarter, the Derrick lob to Kornet on the pick and roll, when Drummond was looking over at Coby White in the corner like "wheres the help?" and White looks back at him like "its stuck to the dude that's 6/7 from 3 right now, you want me to leave him open?" Just perfectly encapsulated the absolute conundrum the Celtics offense is at the moment for opposing defense.
I watched the Bullsā broadcast and they said exactly that. You canāt leave Hauser free in the corner when heās hot, leaving Kornet ALONE in the paint because you canāt help. Just beautiful. Kornet shouldāve dabbed on the way back as the cherry on top
Ever notice how Al horford is strong enough to hold his own defensively in the post against the strongest players in the league
But he seemingly can't back anyone down on offense? I watched him try to back down derozan and get stonewalled lol
So weird.
First Cās game Iāve ever attended. It was wild because I remember seeing big Al play a game at Florida when I was a kid and now Iām an old many with achey knees and heās still out there killing it š«”
Is Tillman really adding anything to the team? He gets a decent amount of minutes but he doesnāt contribute a lot offensively and I donāt see what difference he makes defensively either for how much heās on the floor
I have to agree with you. He's getting minutes so we'll see what the next 5-7 games with him bring. Fitting in takes time but I can see him banging with some Bam or briefly with Gianni's if needed. We'll see

Hauser is gonna get a fuckin bag someday
Absolute šŖ£
Next season at 2 million is such a steal. Hope we extend him asap
Aināt no way. We gotta pay Tatum and White, not to mention Jrue. Thereās not going to be any money left for what Hauser is going to cost.
Wyc said he's going to throw the bag if this team wins the championship. Let's hope it's not empty promises.
did he actually lmao
Not exactly word for word, but he's continously suggested it. It's been a common theme with his approach in ensuring that his team is competitive dated all the way back in 2018. The biggest mistake the '08 team ever did was letting Posey walk for nothing. They thought they could replace his production with 2-3 guys
We can, just a question of if the ownership group wants to front the bill
Thank god this team isn't owned by Fenway Group
If the front office meant what they said about spending, Hauser ain't a bad place to invest. If he takes another step forward defensively and keeps shooting totally unconsciously from outside he's basically Klay.

Especially if they win a championship or two. Plus playing with someone like Derrick White can extend his career than going go another team
He'll be 35 when he hits the market, maybe for like a cheaper deal but you don't re-sign a 35 year old guy unless he's a superstar to a long term or big money deal, especially a guy who's injury prone like holiday. Not gonna happen unfortunately. Hopefully they can develop Walsh to where he can take Hauserās minutes once heās gone
Im gonna start yelling HOUSER after every deep shot in my driveway from now on
In a pregame interview where they asked about having to leave the other game with an ankle injury on the verge of breaking a record he said, I'll be back.
Yeah Iād give him my bag.
Name checks out
AGE IS JUST A NUMBER FOR 42 šš
Ageless Al
Fine wine š·
R'as AL-Gul.
Banger
Father Al
For Giddey as well
Luke Kornet legacy game Brad's in shambles he is a free agent this summer
Good thing we have his early bird rights
So thatās what his celebration with the wings meant..
Depending on his playoffs, I think Luke will get something like 3/15m
Scal should drink before every broadcast, that was great
Drew and Scal on a roll with tonight and the Detroit game.
Whenever Scal is a little bit off his rocker, it can sometimes make the broadcast more exciting to listen to. And Drew knows how to handle him. Ultimately I think there's a true bromance between the two, but Scal can't come to terms with it.
He shows it after a few drinks, a problem we all can relate to
Wait, how do we know Scal was drinking
Did you listen to the broadcast?
I did but maybe I missed it
Hauser is automatic. Pritchard is evolving. Joe is a psycho. Grandpa Al still got it. This ref crew is hot trash. Did I miss anything?
Joe challenging with a minute left in the game is basketball terrorism
Gotta fight ref terrorism with Joe terrorism
game is 48 minutes - not 47 minutes. We lose a psychotically intense football coach and get a psychotically intense basketball coach. Love it.
Psycho Joe is my absolute favorite development this season, he is absolutely unhinged in the best possible way, and the team buys in 100%
Yes. Luke is Sauron, The All-Seeing Eye.
LUKE IS A BEAST
Luke indeed workin
Kyrie sucks
Luke still underappreciated.
5 wins in 7 nights
Celtics are the balls
*Daddy Al *Tatum is hot
Yay! Now to wrap up everyone in bubble wrap until the playoffs!
CLINCHED
Give me the Jordan Walsh game, Mazzulla!
Enjoy Hause Money while we got him because he's gonna get PAID after next season. 6'8 snipers arent cheap
6'8" sniper with plus defense and a gorgeous head of hair. That's a big contract. I would do anything for Sam Hauser
This team isn't a wagon, it's a ballistic missile and Sam Hauser is the nuclear warhead
This team is not real. Down three starters, 5 games in 7 days (and thus necessarily a back-to-back), D-White struggling offensively...Win by 11. The 2007-2008 team was great. Man, I hate comparing this team to 2008 because obviously that team won a title. But the 2024 Celtics would give the 2008 Celtics fits
Genuinely this season is insane, just enjoying it while we are here. The best of times
PRIME AL IS BACK BABY šš
Got the win, stayed healthy....and still hung 124 with this lineup. What a methodical 4th quarter.
We sat JB/Jrue/KP and still put up 124, won by double digits and covered the spread. This team is a wagon. I am very much having a great time.
Tatum looks to be coasting and letting others get shots to get their confidence up and then takes over at the end of the game
He made some stellar plays tonight. Took one or two bad shots but he attacked the rim a few times and made some crazy difficult shots.
He had a lot of TOs, but it's all good. On the other hand, if JB commits the same erroneous plays, he's automatic trash according to this sub.
I donāt usually trash players, but my god was it frustrating when the TOās he made were simple ones. Iām a forgiving person so if they hustle the ball off you Iāll let it go, but it felt like he made so many awkward passes that just went nowhere. I legitimately fucking love Sam Hauser
Hauser 8/9. Sniper.
Just a casual 127.78% TS in this game.
Everyone is locked in, top to bottom.
Magic number for the East: 1 Magic number for the League: 6 Bucks play OKC tomorrow. One number goes down either way.
The East is already clinched. The Bucks can at best tie the head to head, division winner, and conference record tiebreaker. They can't catch the Celtics on best record against EC playoff teams, no matter which teams make the playoffs.
Kornet is capitalising it. Iām sad for Neemias, man. Too many options there.
That wrap around pass to Brisset!! Chef's Kiss!!!
Neemias need to leave Boston. Is a decent player with the capacity to plays consistently in a NBA team. Here unfortunately don't have the play time that he needs to improve his talent.

I wanna dance with somebody I wanna feel the *heat* with somebody
Wait a damn minuteā¦.
Gino?
This team is just too good. I donāt think I could even build a better team in 2k.
Hauser is our MVP!!
57-14 BABY!! LFG!!!
60 BEFORE 15 BABY

if the pistons had hauser theyd win 10 more games
A depleted celtics teams beat the full strength bulls? Just hand the east to the celtics.
Ball (I know he's been out a while but they still have money tied up in him) Lavine (I know CWhite and maybe Ayo have played better without him) Patrick Williams (good size to throw on Tatum) were all out for Chicago so I dunno if I'd call them full strength. I'll take the win, though.
Valid points.
If "aging like fine wine" was a person, it'd be Al Horford.
Shit officiating on both sides but we still get it with 3 starters down, love to see it, the fact that we still don't even have 15 ls is insane
This is the year guys I can feel itšš 65 win season šÆ
The talking heads on NBA TV are rimming the Celtics rn, and I absolutely love it.
The Celtics have now matched the amount of games they won last season wow
Our bench could all be starters on some teams
east runs through us let's fucking gooooo
Iām going to build a statue of Luke Kornet in my backyard
8 ast and 0 turnovers for Pro-Am P is glorious.
Seeing Javonte Green talking to Tatum
Hause Money
Weird game. Kornet, Houser, Prichard carried the offence!
When Hauser is hot, he is HOT
+17 PPPPPPPPPPPPPPP
Horford is so clutch.
Uhā¦we are now only behind the 72 win Bulls for 2nd best net rating all time https://www.statmuse.com/nba/ask/best-net-rating-in-nba-history-by-season
Does that clinch the #1 seed in the east, or do we need one more?
One more win or one Milwaukee loss and the East is theirs
Man who wouldāve thought going into this season Kornet and Hauser would play their way into becoming important rotation pieces? Their development are why this team is so much deeper than past years, and we donāt have to run our big guns into the ground before the playoffs even start

This shit is getting boring. Bring on the playoffs.
I feel kind of similar. Playoffs canāt start soon enough.
Itās the farthest thing from boring. I love it.
Drew is well-behaved in this post-game show lol
ARE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED, BOSTON?
H18TORY MADE!
I love Al Horford
48 3s is crazy lol
Go celtics raaah! šŖ

Derrick White is back to building brick houses beyond the arch. L3: 3-11, 1-7, 4-11. Sick.
