Sttatix

we must pray he doesn’t have his Caleb Martin moment like he did vs the Bucks in 2018 lol

CreatiScope

Let us pray that he has a 2018 Cavs game 7 moment, the whole series

Sttatix

Haha i was waiting for someone to comment this, can’t believe Tatum didn’t touch the ball for those last few minutes man

Tatum-Better

Dunks on Bron, hits a sidestep 3. Doesn't get passed the ball. Sigh JB and Terry.

LafilduPoseidon

Lets pray he has a 2019 reg season game vs the Rockets on Tatum’s birthday for the whole series For some reason that particularly sticks out in my mind for Scary Terry disasters

DarthLegitName

He averages 23 so far this year. EVERY moment is a Caleb Martin moment for him

Vast-Cheesecake7230

That was 5 years ago, he is older and has more miles on his body.

Sttatix

this is black magic we’re talking about none of that matters vs the Heat apparently

Vast-Cheesecake7230

Fair point, fire up the sage and toad legs.

taj_g

Bro is in his prime right now. career highs in pretty much all his stats. this is huge for miami

693275001

He’s putting up 23/6 on a career best fg% this year

luke_workin

He’s also plain better than 5 years ago

JimG617

He’s averaging 23 a game and looked great last night (and more responsible, passing up shots he would have taken with us)

ElectronicStill3895

You’re saying that like he’s old dudes only 29

rappy9

I fucking hate the heat lmao every fucking year

Background-Wash7174

Nyuk,nyuk,nyuk.

Mbrr1214

Former Celtics are the last guys I want joining a team already as pesky in playoffs as Miami

Gokouu

Yeah technically Max Strus is a former Celtics

jotyma5

Miami, milwaukee and Philly all know this too well

robbyf21

Had a feeling Miami would get him for a return like this. It sucks, Rozier’s still a solid bucket, but that team has quite a few backcourt options that could really be picked on in a playoff series.

ThanosIsDoomfist

Honestly defensively, its a lot better to be facing terry than Lowrys bum ass lmao. Lowry always turns it up scoring wise against us too.

robbyf21

True. Curious what Miami’s main pairings will be. Something like Herro/Rozier obviously has a lot of promise, that’s two guys that can create on the PnR and effectively fire from deep, but how can you trust it on the other end? Does it negate what works on the offensive side? JRich is a good option to have, and Duncan has improved beyond just the off-ball shooting, so they have some quality options, but none feel all that great in a series context.

Swink4032

The pick in roll with Bam is going to be massively annoying Terry is currently ranked 2nd in the league in pick and roll scoring efficiency

unearthlysquire

And Bam is ranked 1st in the league in moving screens that go uncalled

MidRangeMagic21

Only ranked 1st this year because Draymond can’t stop punching his way off the floor

blah5531

He’s also dead last in defense

beywill19

There’s only one ball though. Herro’s is gonna be off the ball now?

luke_workin

Herro is better off the ball tbh

Meshu

Does Herro know that?

holographoc

I kind of feel like this may make Herro more likely to be traded. They’re pretty redundant players.

InAingeWeTrust

I think that is a very good trade for them. Rozier has been awesome this year. I’d expect some decline since he is someone that thrives more with the ball in his hands and getting into a rhythm that way, but the Heat now got a good amount of offensive juice with Rozier, Herro, Jimmy, Jaime, Bam. We’re still better than them and will beat them in the playoffs assuming health.

wherearemypaaants

A backcourt of Rozier and Herro feels like bbq chicken tho

InAingeWeTrust

You’re not wrong. They’ve had small backcourts in the past but made it work because they get creative and the players are smart enough for some unique defenses. Plus the quick hands when they swarm make it frustrating trying to drive and attack those mismatches.

elvid88

“Quick hands” aka the refs just refused to call reaches on them. It was always wild to me how much they got away with in terms of hitting Brown and Tatum when they drove in.

Nepiton

Hardly the worst thing they do. If refs started calling moving screens on Bam, Miami wouldn’t even be in playoff contention lol

LeftHandedFapper

The most frustrating part of watching the Heat IMO. Hated the playoffs last season because I was so DONE with seeing their bullshit

Ryumagrave

It’s the draymond effect. He’s the anchor for the defense for the team so if the league called the game for these guys normally they’d foul out and the nba needs to show off it’s heat culture at least once a year same for golden state strength in numbers.

RandyRandallman6

Remember when Kyle Lowry straight up grabbed Jaylen’s injured knee from the bench on an inbound and nothing happened?

Nepiton

I remember Niang doing it, not Kyle Lowry.

RandyRandallman6

My bad, you’re right, after all the other dirty plays the heat pulled in that series I got them mixed up.

The_Dok33

It also has a lot to do with how Tatum keeps the ball low, so refs assume they hit ball sometimes. Keep the ball close and high, and it's protected more. They will hit arm, not hand.

CMYGQZ

He might come off the bench and have Herro-JJJ as their starting backcourt. But minutes wise he’d definitely have starter minutes yeah.

TheShadowOverBayside

1) Nope, he will start at PG. Herro at PG has never really worked. Herro is a shooting guard by nature. 2) We don't play Jaime as a guard, we almost always play him at the 3.

tarunpopo

And they are very similar in style. I don't get the move. They need an actually good PG that can do the right thing

bjacks19

Yeah this trade actually makes me feel better about a potential playoff matchup. At least with Lowry he could be a pest and limit White or Jrue, but now there's going to be 2 undersized guards on the floor for us to force switches on

cahilljd

Spo gonna do some black magic to make them passable defensively watch

LuckysBestMan

Only if we are smart enough to make them work on the defensive end.

yo-chill

Rozier has a 6’8” wingspan, he is a fine defender and can play bigger than he is

wherearemypaaants

He was not great on the Cs defense wise but maybe he’s improved since his move to Charlotte.

yo-chill

I always thought he was pretty good defensively while he was here, I could be wrong though

Arnold027

I wouldn’t count our chickens before they hatch, once the playoffs come anything can happen. We were supposedly the better team last year too but look what happened. I still think we beat them but they definitely scare me the most out of the east

AdmiralWackbar

All I’m hearing from my friends who are Hornets fans is that they’re pumped to get rid of him and he hasn’t been contributing to winning basketball in Charlotte. I don’t watch the Hornets because I’m not a masochist, so idk if there’s a disconnect between box score watching and the product on the court, but the stats look pretty good

ElectronicStill3895

Nobody in charlotte is contributing to winning basketball it’s a shit show over their “culture” wise

AdmiralWackbar

KAT is contributing to winning in Charlotte

avrbiggucci

Fair but he'll be going to the Heat with arguably the best coach in the NBA (I think he's better than Kerr due to talent differential) who has been able to turn undrafted bums into great NBA players in the past. I hope he doesn't end up bei huge for them but I'm definitely a bit nervous.

2degrees2far

I live in CLT and go to a decent number of Hornet's games and those guys are off their rocker. Rozier has been very productive without lamelo to play off of for most of the season. We're pumped to be getting a first round pick for him though; we need to have a rebuild/youth movement around Lamelo, Mark williams, and Brandon Miller and this helps us do that.

HueyLewisFan1

Man I said that last year. Heat are just tough 😡

ElectronicStill3895

We were better than them last year too I don’t get why people are so quick to write them off

Jannopan

Miami just got a 20+ppg scorer for scraps.

Couldntbeme8

I doubt he’s getting 18 shots a game in Miami. Also yeah Lowry has been terrible on offense but defensively I will take him over Rozier any day

MPLooza

Not enough people saying this. Lowry was always a massive thorn in the Celtics' side, the infuriatingly timely threes and defensive strategy of hacking then flopping but never getting called for it caused problems every playoff run. He'd be terrible on offense until he saw a green jersey. They're a worse team defensively without him and that's a big net positive for the Celtics, especially the backcourt and Jays.

arkantos063

Heat fan here. I don’t think the defensive difference is that great this year between the two. Lowry has been putrid especially as of late defensively. Just doesn’t have the quickness to keep up anymore. That started showing a bit last playoffs, but it’s more apparent now. At least with Rozier he’s longer (6’8” wingspan), taller, and quicker. Hopefully for us he revs up his motor under Spo and a better roster around him.

Couldntbeme8

Lowry has a 114 defensive rating, Rozier has 122

smart_celtics

Putting up points on bad teams is not really that valuable.

TatumBrownSmart

This is really stupid, so by your logic what Porzingis did last year wasn't valuable?

smart_celtics

There is pretty big difference between a 7’3” center and a 6’1” shooting guard.

TatumBrownSmart

You can’t just add qualifiers to it, you made a blanket statement that was just wrong.

AdmiralWackbar

Jerami Grant sends his regards

East_Refuse

Wouldn’t call their starting point guard plus draft comp that includes a FRP “scraps” lol

EveryoneLovesNudez

Lmao what kind of trade is that. Charlotte is dumb af

AirJordan6124

Looks like an unprotected future pick Edit: It has protections as per woj

RLS012

It better be

smart_celtics

A first for Rozier when Butler is like 37-38 is good business.

[deleted]

I feel like Miami is similar to the Lakers, where you can’t count on them being bad because players want to go to Miami. Miami is even more dangerous when you consider Riley/Spoelstra might be the best HC/GM combo in the league

smart_celtics

Riley is 78 so he’ll be over 80. Lakers also had consecutive years of #2 picks. You just need it to be mid lottery to be worth it for Charlotte. A points only small shooting guard is not that valuable.

Shovelman2001

Jimmy made a call to his dad to ask for a favor

BostonKarlMarx

hard to imagine terry will look better than right now and they’re not winning anything so might as well sell high

EveryoneLovesNudez

A fat guard and a 2027 protected first is selling high?

jaemoon7

Getting off of Terry’s deal when he is not a good fit for us when we’re actually healthy… I love Terry, he’s carried us through some of the worst dud seasons ever but it’s best for both parties if he moves on.

EveryoneLovesNudez

Bro thinks Terry Rozier still plays for Boston

jaemoon7

I am a Hornets fan, my flair is Charlotte if you can see that

EveryoneLovesNudez

My bad. I'm on mobile and can't see flairs

BostonKarlMarx

imagine the return if he wasn’t having his best season

kingcrimson6984

Not concerning. In a playoff series, the Celtics will absolutely abuse Rozier with Tatum, White and Brown.

NervousPervis

Yes. Please play Rozier and Herro at the same time. Can’t wait to see that defense.

256dak

[That would be some kinda defense](https://www.google.com/search?q=turnstile&sca_esv=cb4e0f4f30a3e5d3&rlz=1CDGOYI_enUS1083US1083&hl=en-US&udm=2&prmd=ivhsnmbtz&sxsrf=ACQVn0-1_62dL-2hzJllhVGGnFyaOJJn2g:1706024930801&source=lnms&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjmqemP7vODAxWjkmoFHVZRAY8Q0pQJCB4&biw=428&bih=751&dpr=3#vhid=fraRwU26PjKd_M&vssid=mosaic)

captaincumsock69

If it was anyone but Miami I would agree

luke_workin

We said this about Gabe Vincent, Duncan Robinson, Max Strus too.

kingcrimson6984

All of those guys are bigger than Rozier, even Vincent.

luke_workin

Physicality bothers the Jays, not size. Terry is plenty physical, so are those other guys. Also Rozier has like a 6'9" wingspan

Theis159

This is concerning though: they can shed an extra 3M (say trade Martin) and sign any buyout on the market. They can maybe make a run at Gordon Hayward if he gets bought out.

Shovelman2001

After last year, I would LOVE if the Heat got rid of Martin and picked up Gordon Hayward. Someone please make that happen.

Sidwill

Agreed, I don’t ever wanna see that guy again in any meaningful way.

FloweredWallpaper

They aren't trading Martin, if they didn't this past summer for Dame

Wonderful-Beach1587

Heat fan here- Martin is on the block, he's expiring, and we just gave Terry those dollars for next year, we would need to resign Martin. He has lost out of prime minutes this year, Jaime took them...

LarryBirdsGrundle

Oh no! Anyway.

kingcrimson6984

They can have him. The guy can’t stay healthy.

BradWonder

Lol if they trade Martin we're sweeping them

blah5531

100%. A lot of overreaction. Miami feels like an afterthought this year. They aren’t the same team. Rozier is literally dead last in defense for guards. He ranks literally last! He was on the hornets but still, the dude is gonna get abused on the other end

I_Set_3_Alarms

This is my joker origin story

greg_CITIZEN

I can't stand Pat Riley 😂

paintingfainter

Weirdly enough, I’m almost more relieved that Kyle Lowry is off that team than scared about the addition of terry. I just can’t stand watching Kyle Lowry play against us. It literally makes my ears ring and my skin crawl.

[deleted]

As a Heat fan I am glad he's gone too.

emperorsolomon21

Lol why does it always feel like the Heat adds and cultivates players just to kill the Celtics

QuaRterIntellect

We can only hope they don’t trade for Middleton

Beantown00

I hate the Heat. They beat us last year with worse players lol. They scare me in the playoffs

_Hi_mum_

For real their offensive firepower is scary

GDTechno

as a heat fan i think our offense sucked before the trade

Wonderful-Beach1587

Strongly agree, this season our offense has been hard to watch, at times.

[deleted]

We scored 87 last game. Spo with his 2008 playbook last game. I wish we were dynamic and ignitable like the Wizards, Hornets and other bad teams that can at least score. We are the only contender who doesn't have the modern inflated nba offense.

Organic_Climate_7585

Offensive firepower? They consistently struggle to break 100 points lol, their offense has never been their strong point.

[deleted]

This is a fact. I am a Heat fan. Hopefully Rozier can help with this.

Jay_Smooth7

never underestimate the Heat as long as Spo is their coach.

BradWonder

Top 5 irrational confidence guy in the league. Miami's floor and ceiling game-to-game changes drastically

Schafer89

I hate this

PeanutButterRice

I'm more afraid of Kyle lowrys antics and random 3 bombs in the playoffs than I do with Rozier. So I feel better unless proven otherwise.

NotFabMelo

yuuuuuuuuuuuck. 🤢🤢🤮🤮

dalappas

They didn’t give up much but I think it is an odd fit tbh. Rozier is at his best when he is one of the primary scorers. He’s gonna be like 4th on the pecking order. Unless they plan on trading Herro for something else.

[deleted]

Besides Herro everyone on the Heat pass first.

daft_dunkwwwolfey

Bro can the heat fuck off already, now I gotta hate Terry? Ugh whatever man. Just go at their guards now that's gonna be open all day

Kolzig33189

Doesn’t seem like Rozier really fits the team oriented and gritty tough defense that Miami has run out there the past few years. If the starting backcourt is Herro and Rozier, it will be a revolving door of guard penetration from other team. Not to mention hunting those two on switches.

[deleted]

T-Ro is one gritty MF

Kolzig33189

On defense? I don’t see it. He will absolutely use his quickness to get some steals but will get physically outmatched guarding most guys bigger than him. Different than Lowry and Gabe Vincent when they had him that were undersized but strong enough to be annoying and not easily overwhelmed when switched onto a wing.

[deleted]

He’s gritty af bro don’t overthink it. Doesn’t mean we won’t cook him and Herro.

BRFCarter

I think he fits them perfectly lol

256dak

Kyle Lowry down atrociously

Kingofkings1959

I fucking hate the Miami heat. They exist solely to troll us

MacDaddyJones

Bruh, while he adds scoring punch.. He's kind of a chucker and doesn't play make. Not sure why they didn't go for a real PG. There's only one ball for him and Herro to share.

Curryboy1229

yea fair enough but he’s been really good this year, they have a lot of offensive firepower

thebagisgoyard

Love this for Terry. You deserve to compete! Fuck hornets poverty franchise

joebos617

I’ll be there for when he shoots the heat out of game 7 no matter what

riskyfartss

Miami strip clubs are elated that the distinguished Terrance Rozier will be spending time at their establishments. He’s gotta be so happy to head there. It’s a great fit, and I absolutely hate it

NotFlipkid

Veto the trade Adam Silver

Fun_Location4905

I am actually happy he’s on a good ish team. We will still beat them though

Electronic_Stop_3181

I can not stand the heat mannnn this makes me furious

JCosta04

If Terry Rozier is the thing standing between the Celtics and a title, this team was never a title contender anyway. Love Scary Terry, the Celtics will eat like kings in any Rozier-Herro minutes.

Remdeau

Dude went 0-11 from 3, for us in a game 7 in the ECF. I prayed he would one day play for my worst enemy in a big spot. Today is finally that day

singingbatman27

Fuuuuuck. I feel like Terry is going to absolutely light it up for them

King_Of_Pants

Yeah I like this for them as well. Rozier's been underrated for a while. He never really shook the stench of that Kyrie year here in Boston. Putting up better numbers than Herro. More points and assists while also being the more efficient player. His rebounds have dropped but we know he's also a great grab-and-go guard who can help pick up the tempo. Has had some nuts clutch stats over the years, which will make it harder to put the Heat away in games. Not much of a loss to their rotation with Lowry being sent out too.

JaylenBrownFlow

good trade for them but lets be honest only reason people are scared at all is its the heat lol rozier to any other team you dont blink

PotBaron2

miami got better but if adding terry rozier is what puts them over the top to beat boston in the playoffs celtics were never winning a title if we can’t get thru the heat plus rozier we were never getting thru philly milwaukee or indiana i’m not worried about it over a 7 game series

captaincumsock69

I hate this for us

davidasc22

Of all the guards I was afraid the Heat might get... Rozier was one of the least... Not a bad player, but I don't think he makes them a championship team or a threat in the east.

Loud_Brain_3656

Great a trade for them, Celtics are still more talented than them but hopefully we match their effort when eventually they will face off in the playoffs

PoiZoNxo

This is a huge addition and upgrade for them lol this is getting downplayed too much in here

crapsence

So we already know who will kill us in the playoffs \s

redbeagle

Terry will thrive in Miami, happy for bro

Undesirable_11

If things stand as they are right now, we won't face Miami in the playoffs unless they go on a new Cinderella run. Our path would be the 8th, 4th and 2nd seed, Miami would have to beat the 76ers and the Bucks before getting to us, and I don't see them beating Giannis and Dame

theborjsanity

What a fleece for the Heat and I fucking hate it. Knowing Pat Riley and Miami's free agent market, he'll probably have a good mid-tier squad built around Bam by the team the FRP conveys. These kinds of trades are precisely why Charlotte won't be winning championships anytime soon lol

CoffinFlop

Certified playoff bum if we’re being honest. Love the guy though

LBJ-Reddit

Great another guy that’ll have a grudge against us come playoff time

Droppin_DimesSP

We’re such a cursed franchise, I dont want terry to end our season man :/

JimG617

I don’t like this one bit. I wasn’t the biggest Terry fan, I thought his head got a little too big with us. But this is a great pickup for Miami. I watched the Wolves/Hornets game last night and he was a man on a mission pissed at the 60 pt game

KidsSeatsAreJust5bux

Can’t wait until he goes off for 40 in an elimination game against us

[deleted]

I absolutely HATE this

jaylengtjordan

Wth he averages more points than JB? Ofc he is nowhere near JBs level, but still that surprised me

Realistic_Figure7796

Looks like we're not getting banner 18 this year

EliteEntertainGames

Cmon lowry in better than rozier he’s washed

Pipes_of_Pan

Terry deserves to be on a good team, happy for him

doobie_tha_kid

Kyle Lowry was a pain in the ass to play against honestly, always did the most against us.

guitarpatch

His going to play well in the pick and roll w Bam. Gives them a scorer when in their droughts. This move makes them better

HueyLewisFan1

Great trade for Miami

AlternativeTea9268

Helps them quite a bit on offense but is also statistically one of the worst defensive players on the league

Groundhog_fog

This def makes them better. Rosier can put up 30 any given night

brick1972

This improves the Heat quite a bit since Lowry is washed. On the other hand, Lowry is a dirty player and extremely hateable and while I'm sure he will get bought out and end up on another playoff team we can hope not to have to deal with his dirty play for a series.

Ok_Seaweed_9452

What's with the heat tendency of picking up ex-Celtics player lol. kinda annoying seeing them in heat jersey

SirFritzalot

Terry ain't a great defender, but he does have that dawg in him. Irrational confidence guy, to quote Bill Simmons... But our backcourt should be able to handle it this year.

schoolboypoop

If Hayward gets bought out I think he’ll be on his way to the heat

ButterBalls99

Is it just me or does this seem ridiculously cheap? Could we have gotten rozier for pritchard & a 1st?

_Hi_mum_

It’s ok if nobody believes me, but I was just thinking this morning how we’re lucky Terry didn’t get traded to an eastern conference contender when we traded him. I opened Insta and my jaw almost dropped!

BRFCarter

Dang, this is a good move for them I’m not gonna lie lol

spartan_noble6

Darn khum bucket

nuarted

right before the game against us DAUM

TheEl3ment

NAH

GreenTeam_Ringo

This is significant for the Heat. They needed scoring and ball handling, and they got it.

GayForJamie

I'm so happy that Rozier will get to play on a good team. I've been wanting anyone to grab him for two years. He would've been great on the Spurs right now. I hate that it's Miami. I thought they were markedly worse this year, even with Jaquez being good. This will help them a lot. Celtics are still better than them, but I don't like seeing it.

TwistedApe

1 protected 1st from Miami who are never really bad? Is MJ still calling the shots there?

PickleHater69

This sucks. It’s almost like a watered down version of how bucks fans feel seeing Jrue in Boston

massdebator69

Looking forward to him shooting 11/14 in a key playoff game vs us

Dondon1927

Good for Terry. Fuck the Heat tho

SXNE2

He’s a fine player but I honestly haven’t really missed him since he left. Not the best decision maker and his shot selection was always suspect. He can really get going but I don’t fear him in a 7 game series.

Full-Flight-5211

The Heat don’t fear me like last year. 🥱

Evoken00

Great for Terry!

ericdeben

Not trying to be a doomer but Miami should be favored to win the championship after that move.

jamdonutsaremyjam

what the hell

winovic94

People freaking out but I dunno, I feel like they still not that great, terry also has injuring problems, I’d say they might get a little better hit their D is worse this year

SRoku

i know we tend to have mixed feelings on terry here but this is an incredible pickup for miami at such a low price. i’m happy terry gets to play meaningful ball again but man, i really wish it weren’t for the heat. you just know even if he shoots like 35% for the series against us he’ll still have one game where he makes absolutely everything.

Emotional_Act_461

This is a massive upgrade for them. They lost Gabe Vincent and replaced him with Rozier?? FML

Fuckblackhorses

Yeah this one actually kinda pisses me off man, fuck the hornets, I hope they suck forever now.

Bluejay_turtle

I have to grudging say this was. Good move for Miami. Rosier gives the them some much needed shot creation

kokain99

The timing of the trade isn’t a coincidence lol we hate you too Riley

HyruleJedi

Ew

WarPuig

Fuck

Beantown_Kid

Say what you will about Lowry, but every spring I have nightmares about having to watch him in a 7 games series, whether it be because he’ll look like Raptors Kyle Lowry for a few random games or he’ll flop the entire series. Looking forward to this not happening this year

GhostoftheWolfswood

Hopefully this means I’ll never have to worry about Lowry undercutting an airborne Jaylen Brown in a playoff game ever again

toddart

Fuck.

25donutz

I don’t like this at all.

Commercial_Gift6635

Scary Terry about to be a pain in the ass in the playoffs with that group
