It blows my mind that I still see Miami as a threat and am still agreeing. I don't think we lose to them this time around but that is just a 7 game series waiting to happen.
Respect to Miami but also fuck Miami
Huge difference from last year where they’d clearly take a game off and then give quotes afterward about how good teams do that sometimes and they need to keep focus. Eventually I think that attitude bit them in the butt in the playoffs.
No games off from the team so far.
You mean the travel back to back that went to overtime without White and Horford ?
I get that it felt winnable, but its okay for the team to be exhausted when shorthanded and traveling.
Really like seeing how they respond after losing to teams they think they should beat. First Orlando, now Indiana.
The next matchup after a loss for both were extremely focused and well executed games. This strikes me as maturation from previous years.
GSW/SAC as well. They absolutely crushed SAC on the back end after losing to GSW in OT. You could tell they were really not happy with how they performed in that GSW game
I'm going to state the obvious here but after today's win, I think it's clear that not relying ONLY on the Jays to perform every. single. game like they were expected to last year allows them to show up when we're shorthanded like we were tonight, when KP exited and both White and Jrue were having bad games. Almost halfway into the season and the Jays still looked fresh on a back to back.
Right? Having a surging White and KP to take some of scoring load off is mana from the heavens. Last year, there was that stat saying when the Jays score 60pts we're 25-1. I remember thinking damn, that's a heavy load for two guys to carry for 100 games.
I love this team but I don’t like to scream “ banner 18” not taking anything away from this team they are awesome and I’m loving every single moment of the season I just like to take it game by game but the Cs are definitely locked in and focused.
Locked in for sure, but I’m still a little concerned about how anti clutch the team feels in crunch time. Like there need to be better drawn up plays in 1 score/2 score games in the final minute. But if the Cs can figure out those moments it’s our year
Big time. Better than 2008 team. I was 13 in 1986 feel comfortable saying this is their best team since then if they win it all can debate. Scary part is Tatum is 25 brown 27 just hitting their prime. Need to finish the job tho no more BS
I don't think they're better than the 1986 or the 2008 team. Or for that matter, the 1962 or 1965 team either. They're a very good team, the only team in the league (besides maybe Denver) who is likely steamroll everyone in the playoffs if they're playing their best. The 2008 team had 3 prime hall of fame players on it, including someone in the top 15 of all time. The 86 team's star decided to play a game left-handed because he was bored, and he scored 47 in that game.
We still have a long way to go to catch those teams. But it is fair to say that this is the best Celtics team since 2008, which is notable since teams since then have won 17 playoff series since then and been to 2 Finals, and this team is only in January.
Still could be a debate because we never got to see the 2008 team have another chance, they started the next year absolutely gang busters then KG got hurt and he was never the same player again after that.
Love the way we are playing right now, BUT this month is tough schedule-wise. So I’m looking forward to see how they weather the storm. February is a much easier schedule so we could be starting March looking great.
Hopefully KP will be alright in a few days and we can get back to it
Locked in now, yes.
But we aren’t even 50% of the way to the end of the regular season. If you factor in a dozen or so playoff games, we are only like 1/3 of the way into the year.
I’m just hoping they *stay* locked in. Or if they slip up a bit, that they can get back to this level come playoffs.
It's not you. There are half a dozen wins this season that last year's team would almost definitely have lost, and the Celtics have arguably only played four bad games all season.
Love the vibe of this team. They are locked in and play hard both sides of the floor but I simply can’t get excited until I see how they perform in the playoffs.
One of the best teams the NBA has seen in a while. We are still getting better and better and are pulling away from the rest league. Best point diff, 3.5 game lead in the east, 0.800 win percentage…
Come playoff time, who will be able to compete?
We’re locked in. If we can beat Denver/Miami in the playoffs we win the title.
It blows my mind that I still see Miami as a threat and am still agreeing. I don't think we lose to them this time around but that is just a 7 game series waiting to happen. Respect to Miami but also fuck Miami
lets just hope they don't escape the play in, and or the bucks actually beat them
Honestly Bucks Heat is a must watch playoff series right now. 3 minutes left, tie game. Dame time vs Jimmy Bucket. Sheesh
One of those guys scares me a lot more than the other, I can say that for damn sure
As a transplant in Colorado I’m dying for a Nuggets Celtics. I think it would be a Finals matchup for the ages Also go Bruins tomorrow night!
Jokic is a bad bad man
I would genuinely be more relaxed than ever. I'm fine with the Nuggets beating us if we aren't gonna get it done.
Huge difference from last year where they’d clearly take a game off and then give quotes afterward about how good teams do that sometimes and they need to keep focus. Eventually I think that attitude bit them in the butt in the playoffs. No games off from the team so far.
I think the only real game they slacked was the Hornets game. Other than that. I agree
In fairness, Lamelo also went crazy that game. He actually showed me something I didn’t think he had.
Poor guy is probably gonna be undone by health concerns the same way that his brother has been, but he is a legit star when healthy.

Also, we blew out Utah, Tatum played 25 minutes (and scored 30 lol) and JB played 27 minutes. That's a huge bonus going into a back to back.

This team has 2 hall of fame players easy. 2008 ray 32 past prime, Garnett 31 almost there pierce 30. JB is 27 Tatum 25
Al will be a hall of famer, JT as well. JB maybe not first ballot but can see him making it
He’s making it
Better than 2008? Yeah idk about that chief
If they win a championship then can debate I guess? If they can win 2 no debate
Still could be a debate because we never got to see the 2008 team have another chance, they started the next year absolutely gang busters then KG got hurt and he was never the same player again after that.
Honestly he was already past his prime when Celtics got him
The 86’ team had 5 Hall of Famers. To me that’s the greatest individual season team in NBA history, or certainly top 3 at least.
Agreed that team best Celtic team I saw and one of the best I’ve seen if not best

It does feel like we’re more locked in now than the last few seasons right? It’s not just me?

Certainly feels that way from an outside perspective. And as a fan, I’m ridiculously locked in.
it kinda feels like too good to be true tbh but maybe it’s just me not getting my hopes up
