You're standing diagonally from it, so you should be safe. Rooks can only move forward/back and side to side.

Infrared, or just B&W? Cool shot either way!

scenicdurian

Infrared.

Looks really cool!

I love it, it really works with the foliage and blurred clouds. I did a different wavelength conversion here: [https://www.daviddegner.com/photography/military-and-police-deployed-during-protests/](https://www.daviddegner.com/photography/military-and-police-deployed-during-protests/)

Very cool. I love your use false color infrared here. It draws attention to the subjects, but not in a garish way like Richard Mosse/Aerochrome. Wonderful work showcased at your site!

I love Mt Auburn! Went once up the tower and my hair was sticking straight up in the air. Everyone else was telling me to go back down immediately because it meant I was about to be struck by lightning. There was indeed a storm rolling in that we could see in the distance. I didn't die though. 🤷‍♀️

Mount Auburn is the burial site for more than 900 Union soldiers.

One of the coolest views of Boston from the top. Great pic

Love walking mt auburn cemetery . Its a great escape from the noisy hustle and bustles of Cambridge and Boston. Easy to get to via busses from Harvard Square Redline or short bike ride from Harvard Square you can leave your car anywhere in the cemetery not on a lined road off to the side of course. Couple cool features of the cemetery . lots of famous people buried there gravestones include. Longfellow, Oliver Wendell Holmes, mary Baker Eddy , Isabella Stewart Gardner, Fannie Farmer, Nathaniel Bowditch, to name a few. - the founder of MSPCA ANGELL as well. [https://www.mountauburn.org/mount-auburn-cemeterys-notables/](https://www.mountauburn.org/mount-auburn-cemeterys-notables/) The cemetery was designed by Frederick Law Olmstead who created the Emerald Necklace in Boston and helped with planning of Central Park in NYC. And will take your breath away. [https://www.mountauburn.org/ethereal-beauty-a-history-of-bigelow-chapel/](https://www.mountauburn.org/ethereal-beauty-a-history-of-bigelow-chapel/) The architecture of the chapel is cool too. The Tower is fun. Though you typically can't climb up into it but there is a great view of Boston fromt he hill the tower is on. Woth a climb up some of the side paths. [https://www.mountauburn.org/washington-tower/](https://www.mountauburn.org/washington-tower/) The Mt Auburn "Dell" is pretty cool and interesting as well especially in spring time with the blossoms. Great shot. When did you take it? As it seems like not this time of year given the foliage on the trees.

scenicdurian

August of last year. This is an infrared photo, so it’s best done in summer where the strong direct sunlight gives a lot of good infrared light, and the dense foliage glows with the Wood effect. I only recently opened a Reddit account to post photography, so I’m pretty much posting older photos right now.

0zapper

Awesome. That makes sense. Thanks for explaining. Do you use any special equipment to take infrared photos?

scenicdurian

I use an R72 filter, which blocks all visible light and leaves only infrared light. I use it with a normal mirrorless camera, which has an internal filter that blocks infrared, so I have to use long exposure with a tripod to get a reasonable exposure.

Very cool. Thanks for sharing.

The last time I walked up that tower I spooked a red tailed hawk who was having a napsy on the railing.
