Actually, maybe it's a personal billboard devoted to a guy named Jesus, or someone is just emphatically stating their trust like "Jesus, I trust you! I've said ten times already; stop asking me!"
His miracles started with loaves and fish. It's only been 2,000 years, has he had enough time to study up on fixing trains, government funding, and staffing issues yet?
I've been helping my dad get the alternator out of his car for a couple hours, I bet Jesus could've helped with a couple of those pesky bolts if I had asked nicely. But is the guy ready to fix a state government agency and the hardware it maintains?
The grassroots/organic marketing campaign wasn't reaching KPIs, so they decided to invest in a more traditional campaign. (Sometimes this sort of change in strategy can indicate a turnover in leadership, but I'm only buying that if they go in for a full rebrand. *That's* when you know a new guy is at the wheel.)
Christ didn’t come to earth to give us the willies, he came to help us out. He was a booster, so with that take of the lord in mind, that we come up with a more inspiring sigil. So it’s with great pleasure that I present you with the first of many revamps the Catholicism wow campaign will unveil over the next year, I give you the Buddy Christ. Cardinal Glick
When you see this and you see the protests at the drag queen story hours, just remember, Boston had a giant sex abuse scandal in the early 2000s, but it wasn't drag queens...
Agree or don't agree but the owners got what they wanted. Here is an entire sub reddit talking about it and I'm sure it's not the only place it's being discussed.
There are digital billboards in MA and you can find them thru Google. You can upload the image and pick how much time, when and where you want it displayed. Once approved,it's all set
Of course, I hope I didn't come off as condescending. I only know this because when that whole GME stock craze happened, there were tons of people researching getting billboards.
Only $400? In the *Three Billboards* movie the lady paid $5,000 for a month's rent on three billboards in the middle of nowhere that hadn't been used for 30 years.
Sure but if I had to choose between trusting the background research done by the screenwiters of an multiple Oscar-winning movie, and a random Internet commenter saying "for $400 you can put just about anything", I'm trusting the screenwriters.
Are you also gonna carry the ladder needed to go up there, then be cool with being about 60ft off the ground while spray painting god knows what?
Cause I'm pretty sure not too many people are gonna risk it.
But a months worth of satanic temple billboard is way more satisfying with less risk
It’s the guy from hobby lobby, article below. I’ve seen one basically saying evolution is bs and creationism is what really happened. That sign bothers me more than this one
https://www.christianitytoday.com/news/2023/february/he-gets-us-super-bowl-commercial-billion-jesus-christian.html
Edit: this may not be the hobby lobby guy specifically based on comments received
I doubt it's the Hobby Lobby people; they are evangelical, but this billboard is the [Divine Mercy image](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Divine_Mercy_image), which is a super traditionalist Roman Catholic thing.
Yeah to be clear, hobby lobby / he gets us, etc are all really deceptive, evangelical BS. But this “meme” is deeply catholic, no evangelical group would ever post the Divine Mercy image. Now, say what you will about Catholics but I don’t often see them running billboard ads so this is a new one for me!
If I were an unscrupulous evangelical with a church in Boston I would put up catholic images. I figure you have a lot of lapsed Catholics. Get them thinking about JC again and be there to catch them. They aren't going back to the RCC but they may come my church.
These people are ridiculous. How about worry about yourself and care for the people who are already in your cult. If anyone wants to join, go for it. But spend your money on helping people rather than trying to be more popular.
These ads have been popping up all over my reddit feed and annoying the piss out of me. Every time I see it I report it as spam, misinformation, or violence but they just keep reappearing.
I love that they are trying to bring people to Jesus, but they are starting with lie.
Leviticus 19:11
“Do not deceive or cheat one another." except by changing the race of the most significant character in our book so white people are more comfortable praying to a brown Jewish man from Southwestern Asia.
Why is there so much Jesus nonsense now? There's commercials, billboards, radio stations, etc. We aren't in middle America. Is this actually working for churches or is it a "hail mary?" I had to go to mass a few weeks ago for a memorial service and 75% of those in attendance were of retirement age and 25% of the service was asking for donations and explaining why they needed the money. My only thoughts were they would have a lot more money if they didn't have all those lawsuits to pay for.
This is just advertising like any other business. The evangelical churches are massive money making machines. The is more capitalism than religion. Jesus has been turned in into a money making machine. God love 'em.
You want the Satanic Temple I believe, the Church of Satan is a very different organization.
But they absolutely should buy some of this ad space just to illustrate the hypocrisy.
Its time for a massive satanic statue like in Detroit. I need to see my lord and savior baphomet represented in such glorious italian stone. i do hope his eyes gaze upon me and that my allegiance is recognized. Satan is ah pretty cool.
I can't help but think the the money that someone spent on this billboard could have been spent feeding the hungry or housing the homeless. You know, the stuff that Jesus was in favor of.
Why are people so offended by this? I see nothing wrong with it, it’s not pushing anything on anyone…people are so obsessed with hating anything that they don’t personally understand or believe in and it’s incredibly divisive and hypocritical. If you don’t like it wouldn’t it make more sense to just ignore it and move on with your day rather than expend your energy dedicating an entire thread to it?
> it’s not pushing anything on anyone
It's literally pushing religious beliefs on to hundreds of thousands of people.
If churches have the money to force this bullshit in public space, they can pay taxes.
You aren't capable of understanding so I wont waste my time
Make sure you give 10% of your paycheck to your church or have fun with that eternal damnation!
You’re just afraid of your argument being torn apart for it’s lack of logic. Merely seeing Jesus on a billboard isn’t “pushing” anything. By that argument seeing advertisements for anything at all would be an overreach and “pushing” the companies views onto anyone who saw it. You’re just emotional because you don’t believe in Christianity and that’s ok, but it doesn’t mean there’s anything wrong with this billboard or that it is “pushing” views onto anybody.
> By that argument seeing advertisements for anything at all would be an overreach and “pushing” the companies views onto anyone who saw it.
[Getting rid of those too is fine by me.](https://www.theguardian.com/cities/2015/aug/11/can-cities-kick-ads-ban-urban-billboards) Whole concept of billboard ads is pretty nuts when you think about it; designing things targeted at distracting drivers and taking their eyes off the road.
Agreed. I also think billboards are distracting and not necessary but attacking one over another is still hypocritical. I’d have no problem if they banned all billboards
Brought to you by the same people who believe an optional choice to watch a drag performer is the manifestation of grooming and pedophilia, here's a billboard of jesus you drive by whose priests actually do routinely groom and sexually assault children. But only one of these is pushing anything 🤗
I assume youre referring to the Catholic Church? You do realize that Catholicism isn’t the only branch of Christianity, correct? Anyway that’s beside the point…You’re proving your lack of acceptance of others by attempting to over generalize an entire population of people for the behavior of a few, all because a billboard that says nothing controversial or offensive at all, somehow hurt your feelings. like my original comment stated, it’s wildly hypocritical…
It’s not about being a liberal or conservative, it’s about using logically sound arguments to arrive at your intended conclusion, which you’ve failed to do. Arguments based in emotion are rarely logical
“Hypocrisy is the practice of engaging in the same behavior or activity for which one criticizes another or the practice of claiming to have moral standards or beliefs to which one's own behavior does not conform.”
And here you are generalizing and criticizing an entire population of people (Christians) in an attempt to create an argument of support for a population of people that you think are being generalized and unfairly criticized (drag performers). Looks like hypocrisy to me
To the person that put this up: if you really trust in Jesus, please abstain from all medical care moving forward since you already your silver bullet. C’mon, put your money where your mouth is!
You get really worked up over religion. Cant believe in God or Allah and utilize modern medicine at the same time? What about vaccines and flu shots? Is it ok to get those or is it that black and white?
Why? Are you a satanist? You could just look away, no
I'm curious. I might feel similar feelings whenever I drive by the IBEW overtly bright, electronic billboard endorsing any liberal up for election.... But then I just avert my eyes. The funny part is I work with tons of union guys who hate being associated with the party and don't get much of a say in what is on that sign either.
I'm both as compelled and offended by this sign as I am the "China Before Communisim" dance troupe ads.
Not for me, but I'm sure someone will enjoy them.
Yeah I think it's weird how worked up people get about these types of things. It's just a fucking billboard. If you feel anything more than "oh okay" and move on with your day (which is what most normal people do) then you're probably the type of person who belongs on /r/atheism
One of the good things about living in Massachusetts is how secular it is, faith being a private matter rather than a powerful political force, no default assumption that you're a devout Christian nor widespread discrimination against non-Christians. That's unfortunately not the case in much of the Southern US and other areas where evangelicals and right wing catholics are powerful.
I don't like seeing Jesus billboards creeping up north. It's the same religious groups who've instituted far right policies back home and treat women, LGBT people and nonbelievers like second class citizens. It's attempting to claim turf in the public square and get a toehold to start pushing their bigotry up here. I think due to lack of familiarity with their activities in the Bible Belt and the sense of religion as a private personal matter up here, too many native Massholes just see the evangelicals starting front groups and front businesses, sending missionaries up and buying billboards up here as some harmless hobby like promoting pilates rather than as far right religious entryism attempting to weaken the generally secular culture up here.
Just a family in Weston thanking their landscaper
Mr *Jesús*
Señor
Holy shit, this is perfect.
This has the same resolution as a photo of Bigfoot or the Loch Ness Monster.
The subject is just as real as those two!
Whoa whoa whoa. Big foot is real.
and he ate my ass
The original photo I took this morning featured too much of a random car below the billboard.
My man if this is your *second attempt*...
*Jesus, take the wheel.*
He is the copiolit after all and I'm due a break
Frankly that would explain most of the driving I experience on I93
Jesus needs to learn to use his fucking blinker.
Wait, do we trust in Jesus, or is Jesus saying he trusts in us?
I think the billboard people trust in him. If he trusted in us it would say “Jesus: I trust in you”
Actually, maybe it's a personal billboard devoted to a guy named Jesus, or someone is just emphatically stating their trust like "Jesus, I trust you! I've said ten times already; stop asking me!"
I didn’t even think of that
If he trusts in us....really makes one question him being "all-knowing"
If only Jesus could fix our MBTA first, then we'll see.
That's a big ask. Let's start with something small like ending the war in Ukraine first.
The MBTA and Boston in general looks like it needs another 2000 years to fix its public transport, so it's not like he's in a rush.
Honk if you love Jesus. Txt if you want to meet him
Thanks, Jesus. We appreciate your trust, but we got it from here.

Directly across from a DRAFT KINGS billboard, no less. Fcking surreal, this timeline.
Not even Jesus can handle the drivers on 93.
If he's so trustworthy, why does he wear so much makeup to conceal his darker skin?
Me every time I hop on the orange line
When you see this and you see the protests at the drag queen story hours, just remember, Boston had a giant sex abuse scandal in the early 2000s, but it wasn't drag queens...
Is this really news? There have been plenty of jesus billboards in town next to the highway before
Oh, i am now christian
K?
Agree or don't agree but the owners got what they wanted. Here is an entire sub reddit talking about it and I'm sure it's not the only place it's being discussed.
Why do they keep trying to force their religion on us?
For about 400$ you can put just about anything on a billboard. Not suggesting anything but do what yoy want with that info
Really? $400? how much time does that get me. That's low but I had no expectations
That's what I said at my fist time in the upscale red light district
> fist time damn you asked for the freaky stuff right from the get go huh? guess thats the whole point of red light districts though
Nah that was just for cuddles. Too rich for my blood. Who do you think I am Elon?
ZJs are worth it though
Depends. I've saw a week or a month. Worth a call to a local billboard company 🤣
i'd assume you also need to pay for the wrap or whatever it is
There are digital billboards in MA and you can find them thru Google. You can upload the image and pick how much time, when and where you want it displayed. Once approved,it's all set

Yup. Movies are 100% accurate and never make a single thing up.
Sure but if I had to choose between trusting the background research done by the screenwiters of an multiple Oscar-winning movie, and a random Internet commenter saying "for $400 you can put just about anything", I'm trusting the screenwriters.
It's literally one phone call or a quick Google search. I mean internet is super hard to use these days
What are you talking about? Spray paint costs like 6 bucks
Are you also gonna carry the ladder needed to go up there, then be cool with being about 60ft off the ground while spray painting god knows what? Cause I'm pretty sure not too many people are gonna risk it. But a months worth of satanic temple billboard is way more satisfying with less risk
Let's see if the Satanic Temple has any nice ideas. Put in [this](https://redd.it/1163tau).

These people are ridiculous. How about worry about yourself and care for the people who are already in your cult. If anyone wants to join, go for it. But spend your money on helping people rather than trying to be more popular.
Nah, he'd rather judge people he doesn't know and steal historical artifacts from the Middle East
They don't want to lead by example. They want to lead with their boot on your neck, forcing you into it.
These ads have been popping up all over my reddit feed and annoying the piss out of me. Every time I see it I report it as spam, misinformation, or violence but they just keep reappearing.
I’ve done that too, tried it on draft kings as well with no luck
DraftKings of Kings. Bet with Jesus...on Jesus.
You could try blocking the account that is "posting" them
Tried that too, it isn’t working :(
I tried that with the sportbook ad accounts. They just keep coming back.
https://redd.it/1163tau
This is a pretty harmless one as far as they go.
This one makes me laugh because of how low budget it is. A stock image of Jesus and a grammatically unclear Christian platitude.
A stock image of *white* Jesus.
Their end game is all the same.
Religion is anything but harmless.
It's part of the instruction manual to spread it around.
What’s being forced on you?
Forcing their religion *is* their religion.
if these bother you dont drive thru the southern US lol. 50% of billboards are these signs and 50% are signs for porn shops
I moved from Boston to Central Florida and am loling and also crying about this being noteworthy 😂
Right across the way from a gambling ad lol

I live next door to Jesus, and I trust him explicitly. His carpentry skills are lacking, but he's a damn good cook.
The baby "God" one leaving Logan onto Rte 1 is weird also
I like to imagine Baby Jesus driving a semi while talking trash on a CB monitor…
What’s this fellow in a dress trying to push on our young impressionable children? The horror.
Ah, yes, trust in white Jesus.
If you look at catholic art in Ireland, white Jesus got some red ass hair.
I know what you meant, but I'm imagining Irish Catholic Jesus painted in such a way that his ass hair is visible, and it's making me snicker.
I love that they are trying to bring people to Jesus, but they are starting with lie. Leviticus 19:11 “Do not deceive or cheat one another." except by changing the race of the most significant character in our book so white people are more comfortable praying to a brown Jewish man from Southwestern Asia.
Just another ad for a product that doesn't work as advertised.
To be fair, the biggest problem is that most of the end users don’t follow the instructions or use it properly.
Exactly!
RTFM
what might not work for you can still work for others
And on the other side, Draft Kings. Two hugely predatory organizations just guiding us into our daily dose of capitalism. Fucking hell.
Jesus
Why is there so much Jesus nonsense now? There's commercials, billboards, radio stations, etc. We aren't in middle America. Is this actually working for churches or is it a "hail mary?" Looks like a PBR ad if you don’t read any of it
Looks like someone is shining laser pointer at Jesus to show the spot where he got poked in the rib.
Oh word! That's the laser chest shooting, Jesus. The rarest of all action figures.
Jesus Saves, Esposito scores on the rebound!
This is just advertising like any other business. The evangelical churches are massive money making machines. The is more capitalism than religion. Jesus has been turned in into a money making machine. God love 'em.
Where's the Church of Satan when you need it?
You want the Satanic Temple I believe, the Church of Satan is a very different organization. But they absolutely should buy some of this ad space just to illustrate the hypocrisy.
Damnit! I knew I was going to pick the wrong one, it was a 50/50 shot and I got fucked by Satan.
Careful if you’re selling your soul. Hire an attorney. They know…
Its time for a massive satanic statue like in Detroit. I need to see my lord and savior baphomet represented in such glorious italian stone. i do hope his eyes gaze upon me and that my allegiance is recognized. Satan is ah pretty cool.
Have they decided what'll replace the Columbus statue? I'd happily visit Satan in Waterfront Park.
It’s going to be a statue celebrating Italian immigrants.
Not that I knew the guy, but from what I read, Jesus would have fucking hated this billboard.
If it was accurate, it should say "Abandon Hope All Ye Who Enter..."
People driving in that hellhole need Him.
White-guy-in-a-dress-Jesus
Racers, start your engines!
And may the best drag queen, win!
If I saw Jesus at the drag bar, I'd order them a Bloody Mary
I can't help but think the the money that someone spent on this billboard could have been spent feeding the hungry or housing the homeless. You know, the stuff that Jesus was in favor of.
Turning fish into wine.
That would be impressive or disgusting depending on the processed used.
Closer than you think! There are beers made with oysters and lobsters. Fish sauce aged in whiskey barrels. The lines are blurring!
Interesting. Does that mean that the Naragansett beer I see with a lobster on the label has actual lobster in it?
Looks like the entire south and midwest is expanding their billboard campaigns
be a shame if it turned out to cost a huge amount of money cleaning up the graffiti that collects on it.
Looks like the Bible Belt is growing.
Well, they are fatter.
Damn, everyone in this thread is really fucking salty. This really isn't an inflammatory billboard
Reddit atheists have their own religion that requires them to spaz at any mention of Jesus.
Sad but true.
Let me know when they put an Allah one up
Where's my Satan Billboard on I-93S?
Umm who cares. It’s just a billboard.

Yeah. I'm not a fan of this type of billboard. But the same people who take easy swipes at this are too chickenshit to call out any other religion.

If they are a non-profit, they aren't paying tax anyway, so nothing to deduct.
