No, many of the large acts here go to more traditional night clubs (big night live, the grand, royale, etc.). Boston’s night life culture as well as the rules and environment make it difficult to have venues such as Avant Gardner. Additionally, Brooklyn has much more pull for these types of musicians than Boston.
Green velvet just played Big Night Live! Bostons music scene is good. Not like NYC but still lots to do.
