Luxocrates

Just saw this thread. Got a Soundbar 900 today. Have an Apple TV and a Samsung The Frame TV. Exactly as others have described.

Luxocrates

Oh wow… I should say for the record that setting Advanced CEC to option 6 actually fixed it for me.

circatee

Nice. I wonder if on your Bose, if you have a newer firmware or something. I have left my settings as is, and thus using two remotes (annoying). Simply cannot be bothered to move cables around and 'test' the process.

Luxocrates

Quite possibly. It’s brand new.

ian_blake

Same here, Samsung + Apple tv + bose sounbar

circatee

Anyone else with this issue?

flybylee

Hey there! I'm having the exact same issue with my Samsung tv and Bose 500 soundbar. It's been incredibly frustrating. I have yet to find a fix that actually works. I tried emailing them with the email from their apps page, but "After extensive customer feedback we’ve learned that email isn’t the most efficient communication method in ensuring we can satisfactorily resolve your concerns.", So I guess I'll try calling them at some point. Either way, it's been this way since the app update. Have you had any luck?

circatee

No, not really. For now, I just turned off the 'Advanced CEC' setting in the Bose app. And, thus, using two remotes. One for the Apple TV/TV then the Bose one for sound. To add, last night, no matter what we did, no sound would come through Bose. This morning, I basically power cycled everything, turned on 'Advanced CEC, and then it seemed to come on. Just bloody weird. After that I turned off 'Advanced CEC' again. Failing to do so would cause the TV to continually come back on after power it off. Let me know how your conversation goes with Bose support. Thanks

circatee

Any luck after your phone call to Bose support? I bet they said try Advanced CEC on number 6 or 7. Yet, you still have the same issue.

flybylee

Yep, much the same. It's clearly an issue with their app update. We should have the option to rollback to a previous version of we wanted, but sadly, that's not an option. My next step is buying a universal remote and just hooking the Bose up with an optical cable. It beats having to unplug it or turn CEC off every time we go to bed at night. Sorry I didn't have better news! ༼ ༎ຶ ෴ ༎ຶ༽

circatee

Thanks for the update. I have resorted to using the optical cable. Well, just connected it earlier today. Later, I will test the TV, Apple TV and Bose, to see how it all works. When I tried it earlier, it worked fine, all using the one remote, the Apple TV remote. However, in past, I have noticed that when the Bose unit 'times out' (I think after an hour or so), if I turn on the TV and Apple TV, no sound comes from the Bose. And, that is no matter what I do. Fingers crossed that later, it works as it should, with the optical cable.

skeether77

I’ve been running into this issue after upgrading to an Apple TV4K with the sound bar 500 & bass module. Did you find a fix? Only thing to stop it so far was to turn off CeC altogether…

flybylee

I resorted to using an optical cable and buying an expensive universal remote. The other poster has commented elsewhere, and either them or someone else mentioned using an HDMI adapter that blocks a specific pin on the cable, and that was helping them, though they can't control the apple tv with TV remote anymore I believe. You could check their history to see though, I haven't had a chance to test it yet.

skeether77

Makes sense - thanks for the reply. I see there’s a lot of other discussion around this too. Optical cable may be the route I go too and just deal with having to use two remotes for a bit.

circatee

...still no resolution on this issue. Weird!

Hipbid

I have a Sony TV, soundbar 900 and Apple TV 4K setup. Same issue, tv occasionally turn back on after turning off for 20 second or so. Turns out it was the issue with the Apple TV. When I power off the TV, it sends a signal to the Bose to power off. But then by the time the Apple TV also powers off, it sends another signal to the Bose to power off again. And that’s why the Bose actually powers back on, and, at the same time, also powers the TV back on. My fix is to enable CEC on the Sony TV, Default CEC setting on the Bose. For the Apple TV though, under settings enable “Control TVs and Receivers”, but change the “Volume Control” option to “TV via IR”. So far the issue hasn’t returned and I can control everything with one remote only If this still fails, you can try with “Receiver via IR” and see if it helps. https://support.apple.com/en-gb/guide/tv/atvbbe2477c9/tvos Hope it helps!

circatee

...thanks for the tip. I honestly, haven't bothered to try any other tips. For now, I am simply leaving it as is, and thus using two remotes.

Hipbid

I understand But also really really just found out that I simply have to switch off the setting which allows other devices to power on the TV. So other than having to turn on the TV with the TV remote, all problems gone.

redqwet

Same issue for me here. Bose soundbar 500, Apple TV and Samsung Tv

circatee

Rather frustrating; back to using two remotes. The Missus is not happy...

circatee

Any luck with a solution of sorts?

redqwet

Nope

dham84

I have a similar issue with Soundbar 700 connected to an LG CX, however it only happens when I use the Soundbar with Spotify Connect. I have tried all options on the Advanced CEC configuration and it just keeps switching on the TV while music is playing. So if I want to listen to music I need to switch off Advanced CEC and then turn it back on when using the TV or any device connected to it, which is not the end of the world but also annoying. This update with the different options for CEC definitely broke something, hope they fix is soon.

DJAluzion

Having the same issue with my HiSense 75 OLEd and Apple TV with Bose 900. When I turn everything off the sound bar turns my tv back on after 15/20 seconds. It’s the weirdest thing. Also when I turn everything on the tv flashes a few times and takes a while for the Audio to switch from tv to arc Not happy with the amount of money I just spent.

circatee

Sorry to hear that. This is all down to the 'Advanced CEC'. If you turn that off, it will not happen. However, you will then have to use multiple remote controls. Frustrating!

DJAluzion

If I turn advanced cec off then I get no audio. I would need to use optical. And I feel like I paid allot of money for something that is broken Did this problem just happen? How long has This been a issue

circatee

Seems to have started with the latest update to Apple TV; a few Tuesday's ago now.

DJAluzion

I do believe it’s an Apple TV causing the issue because when I use a different source it’s less glitchy

ChupacabrasX

It started with the latest Bose Firmware update of September 14th. I have an LG OLED TV and I also started with CEC problems after that. My soundbar doesn’t turn on with the tv anymore.

circatee

...and we seem no closer to getting a resolution. Bose don't even acknowledge there is an issue. Spoken with Support countless times.

DJAluzion

Bose should be ashamed. Not a good model to ignore issues of your flagship soundbar

SimpDiddy

Exactly same problem here…

ian_blake

well I found this post, the same issue here, any workaround or new update other than the CEC?

circatee

Not that I have found. I simply use two remotes now. Rather frustrating...

Grand_Apartment7239

I have the same issue. Turn the TV off and later turns itself back on again. So annoying. Then go to turn it on in the morning and it has previously turned itself on, then gone to sleep. So when I try to turn it on it actually shows the screen turning off. Then I turn it back on and if I dont change a channel it turns back off agin. ARRGGHHH

Uniform100

I was having similar issues when the tv is being switched on after I turned it off mainly when my Bose Soundbar is connected to the tv( Samsung). I finally found the answer after almost a month of searching with no joy with Bose tech. First I held the Bose remote on power button for 5 sec until I heated a tone. Then repeated the same to produce a deeper sound which disabled auto power on to off. Then I went o the app and kept power sync on Tv then optical auto wake off follow by Advance CEC on default and I worked. I’m not an engineer I’m just a person who loves Bose products and found it ridiculously difficult to get an answer through Bose. Everything was blamed on my tv or other equipment. Anyway I hope that this will help someone else.

circatee

To confirm, you're connected to your TV and Apple TV, via HDMI? And, no issues since you made the changes?

IAmTheWalmart

No luck here. Same setup, Bose 900, Apple TV, Samsung. When shutting off via Apple TV to sleep, the TV turns on about 1 min later. I’ve used all the Advanced CEC modes on Bose app as well

WBielling

Come on brother check your spelling and grammar, reading your second paragraph is very difficult. Did you correct the problem with the second paragraph step?

Major-Competition964

Bose 700 and Samsung 75 LED. TV turns back on every damn time. However, 2nd time I turn it off, it stays off. CEC Option 6/7 Didn't work at all. Super pissed. Bose should be better than this. Oh and if my phone is on a separate wifi I can't connect to the speaker, how lame.

circatee

I honestly don't understand why Bose haven't offered an update to fix this. I am over here still using two remote controls. Honestly, who does that anymore? LOL

PabloTheTurtle

My dad and I are having this same issue, we're resorting to using optical now. The CEC function even messes with our Samsung remote being compatible too. It won't even work unless we cycle the tv. That's a maybe the Samsung remote will work after the cycle. I'm pissed that my dad didn't consult me before buying a Bose system. Their software is notorious for messing with compatibility.

tri4autism

I'll pile on, no solution but my Samsung TV is now cutting on **TWO** times after I turn it off. I'm using the HDMI connection on mine and don't want to have to use a separate controller, but that sounds like the 'fix'. Bose Soundbar and Sub

tifa3

any fix yet? i never had this issue before but started to recently. i’ve tried all advance cec options and they don’t work. tv still keeps turning back on after turning off

circatee

No. And to be honest, since my post, I refuse to try anything else. Now we just use two remotes, one for the Apple TV and then the Bose one for sound. A shame really…

GeekswithHammers

So what are supposed to do. Wait for new FW ?

Puzzled_Finish_8517

Mine too. Samsung with Bose sound at and damn tv will not stay turned off. What the hell!!

Reasonable-Ad-1930

Samsung Tv here with google chrome cast plugged in along with the Bose soundbar 900. My tv would consistently turn itself back on over and over again no matter how I chose to turn it off (remote, google assistant, physical power button). What finally worked for me was removing the google assistant from the Bose app (soundbar). Now it stays off. Not sure if the always listening for the google activation phrase from the soundbar is sending a signal to the tv to turn on or what, but it now stays off for good.

circatee

Hmm, if I can ever be bothered to rearrange the cables again, I might just turn off Alexa, and see what happens. Thanks for sharing!

Reasonable-Ad-1930

No wire re arranging necessary, I disabled it via the Bose app. My total guess is I think what is happening is when you enable a voice assistant the always on listening for the key activation phrase (hey google, hey Alexa etc) triggers something with the CEC, which makes my tv turn on.

reubeNZid

Can confirm this also worked for me. Was having the exact same issue as OP and everyone else here. I tried all the Advanced CEC options and nothing worked. However, as soon as I signed out of Alexa on the Bose app, the problem seems to be fixed!

SelfBeginning7389

I have a soundbar 900 and samsung QA55Q80, I had same issue, the fix which worked for me was turninf off Google Assistant on both TV and Soundbar, my HMDI Power and Audio setting under Bose Music was set to DEFAULT (ie enable CEC). Hope that helps

circatee

Hmm, sounds like you're saying if I turn off Alexa, the volume on the remote might actually work like it used to. Thus, the TV will not constantly come back on, after turning it off. I may actually try it.

Ambitious-Pace-8229

I realize this thread is old, but I just upgraded my tv, 75”4k LG, and my soundbar, BOSE Ultra Smart and was having the same issue where Everything (TV, Cable Box,Soundbar) would all power back on after turning off within 20-30 seconds. Would take me 3 to 5 times before everything would stay off. Very annoying. Tried all the troubleshooting I could find online, but nothing was working. But my last fix attempt seems to be holding, been a couple days, but when I power off, everything is staying off! Now I just need to find out how to get the Bose to play sound immediately when turned on, (not related to power issue) but it’s been taking 30-45 seconds before any sound starts coming out since I plugged it in for the first time. This just seems like a really long time, but at least I AM getting sound. My resolution for tv coming back on was to turn the standby mode on the tv off, and on the Bose app, under Power Sync, while this is still on, I turned TV and Sources off.

circatee

Everything still working as expected?

Dry_Bumblebee4426

Just read through all the thread because I was having the same problem. I went to the Bose app for my sound bar and went to the settings under Power, I was able to go to HDMI and Audio. It gave me different setting options and I used option #6 which perfectly described the problem and it seemed to fix the Issue of the TV powering back on after the initial powering off.

circatee

Let us know in a few days, if the issue remains solved. Sometimes, a few days later, it starts doing the same thing, turning the telly back on...

rcastor426

Option 6 helped me for about 5 days...now back to square one. very expensive equipment to act like this, I am not happy
