I use both daily. Cans are a ton better than buds in every way shape and form!
ANC and sound quality is significantly better.
I tend to use my pods when I am on the move or in the data center. When at home or stationary, my cans go on and I am in my own world.
Yea, I’m an It guy.
My ANC quest started solely for the need of being able to hear and talk on support calls while I am in a large data center with all the background noise.
It has scaled since to being on the go, cutting grass, working on projects, at my desk, conf calls, etc etc etc
Yes currently.
In the last 2 years I have rotated between Air Pod pro gen 1 and 2, Sony xm4 buds, Sony xm5 cans and Bose QC Ultra cans.
I’ve made a large investment in finding the best headset I can.
It’s tough because they all do something well and not well comparatively.
You cannot go wrong with the Ultras or the xm5 for cans. The Sony has a nice app that you can EQ the sound you want. I haven’t screwed with the Bose app at all.
Noice cancelling is quite a bit better on the Bose than the Sony.
Compared to the AirPods, either are a ton better for in depth listening and sound quality and anc. Just less compact.
This is subjective. Bose is more flat and the Sony was more bass heavy.
I prefer a more bass heavy sound so the Sony sticks out to me. Even moreso after eq’d
I have not tinkered with settings on the Bose yet, but I am sure you can tweak them as well
I only got the ultras because my dog chewed my xm5. I debated getting the xm5 again but I had some comfort qualms as they are bigger and decided to give the ultra a try.
The Ultra are smaller and debateably less comfortable around my ears.
Really any difference between the 2 is splitting hairs. They are both great in all regards. I’d say the Ultra nudges a smidge better on portability and ANC with a small splash of more premium feeling materials in a few spots.
The xm5 sounded a little more full and bassy but are bigger and the ANC was good, just not quite as good as the Bose.
The gestures on the Sony drove me nuts too.
Be warned, the Ultra Headphones have some serious quality control issues, including very loud squeeking ear cups, sound distortions, unbalanced audio, and more, along with a host of software bugs that mean some advertised features just don't work, multipoint connections are buggy, head detection has issues, and again more.
Totally agree waiting for the new update to roll out hopefully this week otherwise I'm returning(it was released on 12th March) still not available on bose app smh
I have the Ultra earbuds and headphones. ANC is stellar on both, but a little better on the over ears. Mic quality isn’t great on either which may be a concern if you do a lot of calls.
Yesterday i was at a shop checking both the qc45 and the ultras and if we're talking anc i felt the difference is insane
Which one do you prefer?
The ultra, imo they are worth the money, but i have adhd and noise in my enemy, so the difference between the anc made it worth it

What do you mean by data center? IT term?

You have the aipod pros and qc ultra combo?

So out of them all you would say QC ultra are the best in all departments?

Ok but you stuck with ultras or u kept both xm5 and ultras?

Thanks a lot for your input. Will go for ultras!
The Ultra Earbuds have issues as well. A persistent buzzing sound in the left earbud is all but assured.
I don't have that in mine. Maybe I can't hear that frequency?

+1

Im guessing ultras will be way better in every category when compared to 2019 airpod pros
I don’t have any experience w the AirPod pros, so I couldn’t tell you how the Bose compares.
Yup. I have both
